I'm holding out for $200 from EWR to MCO in early March. So far lowest is $225. I have a headache from searching lower fares on the web. Anyone else having the same fun? Even tried LGA and PHL but no good. Getting close with the special fares through May but not right near my dates in March. I'm holding out for the last minute....i think.....I need 6 tix so that's a savings of $150 if I wait...or not.

Anyone know of any hidden deals not obvious on the normal sites?

Try JetBlue out of JFK or SW out of PHL. You should go to the airlines website.

SW does not fly out of PHL (not till May at least). I posted on another thread (I think to you) to check Spirit Air out of ACity or Airtran out of PHL they are about at $190-195. Good luck!

I wouldn't hold out too much hope that prices will drop for the beginning of March. That's Spring Break time for the college kids and they usually jack up airfare around that time. Personally, I'd buy the airfare now, and if fares do drop, get a voucher for your next trip. The longer you wait, the more full the plane will be and most likely you won't be able to get seat assignments together.

I've been watching fares for EWR-MCO for June and there awful! Continental is a little better, but Delta/Song flight times and prices are crazy!!! I can't believe all the connecting flights that Delta has listed, very few direct unless you want to fly at 7:00am(which I don't;) ).

TRY SPIRIT AIR, THEY LEAVE OUT OF LGA TO MCO THEY ARE USALLY CHEAPER THEN OTHER AIRLINES.

GOOD LUCK

I am in the same boat as you. One tip that might help: I called Cheap tickets and they said they would give me ten percent off my total ticket purchase (the base rate was $225 on Delta) if I agree to pay $1.00 to join their members' club which costs $89 yearly but I could cancel within 3mths and they claim they will not charge my card. Let me know if you try it. Carolyn from NJ

i'm with the person above to buy the 225 if you need to go from newark. . I havent seen lower than that out of newark in years. Especailly since Delta Express got canned. But like others point out if you are willing to go to JFK or LGA or someplace else you can get cheaper. Untill we get some low cost like jet blue or South west to force some price cuts, I think we are hosed out of EWR. THe prices from newark are constistantly higher than ewr and JFK. I was hoping Song would have had an impact but as stated above, they are pretty much keeping the status quo.

Well I gave in and took the 225 out of Newark. No matter which airport or airline I tried, I could not get lower without having a stop over. And the price difference was only a few bucks so it was not worth it.

I've waited it out before and got some good deals, 200 or less. Last year I got under 200 on Delta twice. I guess it depends on the dates. My issue this time was March 5th (departing). Just could not get anything good for that day.

Thanks everyone.

I got the $225 from EWR to MCO for Easter weekend. I watched the SONG site for about 4 weeks, then one day I saw the 2:30PM flt, and the 10:30AM return flt open up. I grabbed it because now the flights for easter weekend are $400+...

I wanted to go end of Feb/early March - USair is been $300 & $400. I think that is way too high. End of Jan is only $200 - can't go then. Does anyone know why prices are so high?

I'm in the same boat - April 21 to 25, PIT/MCO. For some reason, that Sunday return is very high even though most seats on USAir are empty. Currently $364. Return Monday the 26th it's around $200. Problem is, I have to return to work Monday.

AirTran has n/s flights 4/21 tp 4/25 for $232 right now if you are interested.

You just hit the popular flights/dates.
There may be just 4 to 6 of the cheapest seats (about $100. each way) and they go within minutes of the IPO (initial public offering!) 331 days out. Then the rest of the plane sits empty for weeks at higher fares, for example Delta's K instead of their everyday low U fare. There may be fare wars, or maybe Southwest has an IPO, then Delta offers some class T seats for $79. each way but none on your dates, and the remaining higher price seats go up and down by the same percent across tthe board fare cut, but never as low as the U fare 331 days out.

Eventually somebody buys the more expensive seats, for example nonrefundable Y class at say $299. each way (or maybe $254. each way during a fare war) and that is what Delta hoped for.

I saw that. I really wanted to get the USAir 7:15pm flight home, the Air Tran non-stop leaves around 2:30, kills that day. They have a later connection through Atlanta but it does not arrive in Pittsburgh until 12:30am. Considering USAir 7:15 has most of the seats empty, I'm going to wait it out for awhile.
