NJ Homeowners insurance

Ok firstly i know how dangerous trampolines can be, but we are looking in to getting one. Now i called my homeowners insurance to see if they would cover me, but could they told me they could not answer that until after i brought the trampoline!!!

I was wondering if you live in NJ and have a trampoline, who is your homeowners insurance is with?

That's crazy...seriously...that's like not being able to get a quote on a new car when replacing another vehicle until after you buy it.

Sounds like it's time to find a new insurance company.

Can you call them back and tell them you bought one?

Or, would they then cancel your insurance?

They probably need to know the make/model and safety features to give you an accurate quote.

I tried to get a straight answer out of my insurance, and I told her how backwards the whole thing was. I told her what size we were looking at, the fact that we have a fence and yes I would be outside supervising! But she still told me that they couldn't give me an answer until we buy the trampoline and then they would review the situation. It also seemed like if they didn't think that everything was acceptable, they would cancel my policy!

That is why I am asking about new insurance companies! We have had the same insurance since we brought our house and I have know idea where to start looking for a new company!

Do you have a local agent? You might be able to get more info that way. I don't know. I don't have a trampoline (or a pool or any other structures outside), but I do live within 5 miles of the ocean, so we have to deal with the insurance company from time to time.
