Nintendo DS or DSi...Will DS become obsolete?

Some great questions and answers on this thread!

I too was leaning against the DSi for DS-almost 6 just because the games are so much more expensive, and we have so many GameBoy Advance games laying around.

Just making sure, the DS lite CAN use old Gameboy Advance games, right?

Thanks for all your replies and info. I really appreicate it!

I do have another question that will completely show my lack of knowledge regarding games for the DS Lite......

Can someone give some examples of the cheap game boy games that you all keep talking about? I have no idea what they are or if she'd want them. She doesn't want terribly complicated games, so maybe she'd be happy with them. I don't know.

For what it's worth, I didn't realize there was a difference between the DS and DS Lite. I thought "Lite" was just a new term added to the DS to differentiate it from the DSi, but that it was still just the same old DS. I had no idea there was a DS, DS Lite and DSi. ACK!

here's a link to Amazon's GameBoy Advanced games. Keep in mind that you are looking at the used prices (which start at .01). If it doesn't do it in this link, make sure you change the "sort by" category to "from lowest to highest".
There are many, many pages of games for less than a dollar or two.

Let me also add that there are some Game Boy color games shown as well, just ignore those, because they won't work in the DS.

The DS lite can use Gameboy Advance games. You can not play the multiplayer modes of any of the GBA games on the DS or DS lite, though. For instance, you can play all the Pokemon GBA games on the DS, but only the single player part. Most games are still good even if you just play the single player mode, but some (like Pokemon games) might not be as fun if you can't play against other people. You can not play against another person using the DS (or the DS lite), you have to use a GBA for the multiplayer mode. There are lots of mutiplayer DS games if you want to play against other people, though, and some of them can be played online.

EMom - There isn't really much difference between the DS and DS Lite. They play the same games. The DS lite has a brighter and slightly larger screen, and I think it has a slightly longer battery life. I have a DS and for me there isn't enough difference to justify switching to a DS lite. If I didn't have one at all, I'd buy the Lite. Actually, unless you're buying a used one you can only buy the DS lite now - it replaced the original DS.
