Nintendo DS Lite thread. Let's find a deal!

Count me in too! DD 16 wants one for Christmas. She wants the learn to speak french and Brain age. The bundles I have seen don't include these! :sad2:

Not sure if any of you know this...you can buy a mod chip for the DS, and download the games from the internet. You need the mod chip plus a micro sd chip. You can also watch movies and play mp3's on the mod.

what is this? I am interested!

It's a CycloDS Evolution card. Along with it, you will need a small memory card. Both can be ordered from electrobee.com After you install them, you can download almost ALL games to the unit. The little memory card can hold many, many games.

DD got a DS for her birthday. She also has a Gameboy SP that she doesn't use now. Can you trade the Gameboy in at Game Stop for credit towards games? Anyone know what the going rate is? Thanks!

How much does it cost to download the games? My kids have had their Nintendo DS for a couple of years now. I have never heard of this. IT SOUNDS VERY COOL! :thumbsup2

I bought the TRU deal yesterday for DD ( actually it is from her grandparents) but I went to the store and got it. It was a metallic pink rose ds , a tri fold case, and the tinkerbell game for 157.00. Not the deal of the century but a deal non the less. The only thing that sucked was the only case was the lego Indiana Jones Lego case:confused3 . That case does not exactly match a pink DS but whatever! I also got the extra 2 year coverage for 24.99 because if it is electronic my kids WILL break it!

It is free. An R4 does the same thing. Just google it.

I use romulation.net to download the games. It's very easy, and free.

Also, I just purchased an R4 and found it harder to load the software on it, as it didn't come with software.

I buy my mod chips from www.gamersection.com, however it's in Canada where I live. There must be some places in the US that sell the same things.

I would recommend a M3 Simply, just google it.

I bought 2 at the Limited Too store and got the Too Bucks back to use later. Total (for 2 DS Lites) was $259.98, I received $125 in Too Bucks to use after Thanksgiving, and $50 in Too Bucks to use after Christmas. I didn't think it was a bad deal, I shop at Limited Too pretty often so I will definitely use the Too Bucks! They only have pink though.

Can we use our Too Bucks on a DS? :woohoo:

There was a thread on slickdeals last night that said some of the Walmarts have the pink and blue DS Lites in clearance for $65. YMMV.

Thanks - i checked slickdeals and they had a code for 15% off of ds's at Dell (expires tomorrow). I got the cobalt DS my DS4 wants for $110.49 and they shipped for free! My total with tax was $119.61. Not the greatest deal in the world but not too shabby.

I figure the DS lite will come out super cheap right before Christmas as a new version is supposed to come out early next year but I didn't want to risk it.

I did not read all of the replies but I think the best price for just the DS is on Amazon. It is the same price as Walmart or most anywhere($129.99) but you don't pay tax and it has free shipping. That can save you at least $10 in most states and save your sanity shopping in stores for the "perfect" color!:thumbsup2

I don't like the bundles because you end up with games your kids don't usually want and accessories they don't need.:)

I agree....so far, it's looking like Amazon has the best deal. From what I've heard, the deals are not going to be that great for the DS. The good news is, I've seen them in stock everywhere.....so hopefully, I can take my time and think this through and see how many deals (if any) I can find.

I agree the Amazon deal is fine. I just checked Dell and the DS isn't even showing up there anymore. They had metallic pink and cobalt blue a few hours ago and now nada.

I went from ignoring this thread because I didn't think we were getting this for anyone this year, to needing this thread because that is all DS7 wants for Christmas. He does have a Game Boy Advance we could trade in at Gamestop. Does anyone know the details about that offer. What exactly you need to trade in and do you get a new Nintendo for it? Also looked on Amazon and their Nintendo's are all listed at $129. Any Black Friday deals out there? Although I may have to work that day.

OK, ds has been saving for his DS for a long time. He finally got enough yesterday (wonderful report card all A's and one very high B) So anyway since it dosen't seem like any "great" deals, where would you buy a DS? My main concern is a warranty. I know that Walmart and TRU have warrantys but I have no idea about their prices and what they cover...

Any tips?

The Walmart bundle that was previously posted is no longer available..but they currently have a choice of three different bundles that contains your choice of color for the main ds unit, your choice of game(s) from a list of non premium games and an accessory pack.

The differences between the bundles are number of games included (the two less expensive ones have one game and the other two), and level of accessory kit.

I was a bit frustrated by some bundles as the games weren't all that appropriate (or interesting) for my 7yo dd...but the Walmart bundles are appealing!

Just wanted to share the info!

my DS10 wants the Guitar Hero - On Tour for the DS. Has anyone seen any deals on this.

This week Best Buy is running a deal that if you buy GH - On Tour $49.99, you get a $10 Best Buy gift card, to use on a later purchase.

Do you think this might be the best deal I can get?
