I am having a debate with a guy at work about the Ninja Turtles. He insists that he saw the Ninja Turtles at Disney World back when he was 5 years old. I don't think they were ever at Disney and I think he is remembering Universal but he insists it was at Disney World. So do any of you have an answer? :confused3

Yes they were there. I have pics, just not on the computer. They were at MGM. They even had a van that they rode around in, and the van that the army guys from Toy Story ride in looks just like the old turtle van.

He is partially right...They were there in '93. They had just gotten there. I took DS(then 3) and DD(then 2). DS loved NT and we had to find them. We spent over an hour looking for them. ("They should be over there". "Not here, but I think they were going to be over there", etc....even the CMs didn't know where they would be.) When we finally found them, DS was sooo excited and we were walking up to get our picture made with them and DD was terrified of them!!! She was screaming even though she had seen them on tv several times a day!!! DS till got his pictures, but DD was only in one... crying!!!! I had some pictures of them, but I don't remember where they are right now or I would post them.

I know for a fact the Turtles were in MGM in November of 91. I stood in line to get autographs LOL. I think the pizza van became Army man transport. There may have been more than one van. I think I remember a co worker bidding on the Turtle van, it was not in driveable condition and needed to be picked up.:confused3

From Wikipedia:

On June 30, 1990 the TMNT arrived in the "New York Street" section of Disney-MGM Studios theme park in Orlando. Emerging from their Turtle Party Wagon, they would "ninja dance" across the stage while April performed the theme song to the show. After the main show was done they would pose for pictures and sign autographs.

The Turtles made appearances in Walt Disney's "Very Merry Christmas Parade" to sing their own rendition of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". They also appeared during the Easter parade dancing to their single "Pizza Power!" The Turtles' live shows and appearances ceased production in 1996.

I loved TMNT as a kid, and would play their arcade game for hours at the old family fun center at the Contemporary. If I remember correctly, during the peak of the TMNT fad, Disney bought the rights to the characters and they appeared at MGM shortly thereafter, in addition to their live action movies. Not sure what the dollars and cents were in the deal, but TMNT was a quick fading fad, so it could have been a loser for all I know....

It's funny how they are big again...wonder if they will show back up at MGM/DHS??? My son LOVES them!

I remember it distinctly. MGM backlot had a tenement building (just like the TV show) and a stage in front of it. As you waited in the crowd, all of a sudden you heard this loud thumping music. a flatbed truck arrived with the turtles on it. And, they did a stage show, after they were individually announced. The kids went wild.

As you can see in the video, we saw them in 1992. This was our first trip and we didn't understand the concept of what a line was, much to the indignation of the line holders. We quickly got into line!

I have pics also - of my now 22 yo DS back in 1993 and remember having to stand in line to get autographs of TMNT :)

I have pictures from when I was 5 with one of them at MGM. I was obsessed with them, and I'm a girl! Haha. I still remember my TMNT birthday party.. :rotfl:

Me too!! My DS's both love TMNT, and my DS9 would just freak if he could see them at DHS.

Now if they would just get the rights to somehow get Transformers in the park, I don't think I could get my DS's leave. :lmao:
