Last time we camped at FW was nine years ago. Then we were family of 6 - 4 kids, mom and dad. Now only one kid at home - still mom and dad. Can anyone tell me about any chnages in the last nine years that would impact my planning.

They have added archery, Segway tours and people decorate year round.. So you might want to add some time for Fort exploration.

And welcome back.

Plan Man,

I would say you are due for a visit! :cool1:

One big change was that they widened a couple hundred sites, made them all concrete, and (naturally) increased the prices. These are the Premium sites.

They were made "big rig" friendly. The original sites (and current Partials, Preferreds, and Fulls) have 12' wide concrete with a sand pad at the back. The Premiums are 18' wide concrete sites with no sand pad (paved over) and flare out wide at the road to make backing in easy.

Oh, and they expanded loop 600 almost up to the front door of the Meadow Trading Post (a travesty IMO).

What kind of trailer/rv do you have?

We have a large tent trailer - experienced campers - have been back to WDW several times in last nine years but not camping

I have a reservation for a "full hook up site" Any loops you would recommend - my preference is to have as much tree cover as possible and as close to the lake as possible. We are going in July and I dont have air conditioning (although I do have a window unit I use which provides some comfort) THanks for your help

1600 and 1800 loops have sites by the canal. Our favorites. :thumbsup2 You can request there on your reservation.

But if you want to be near Bay Lake, you will want 100 or 200. 1600-1800 are pretty far from the lake. 100 and 200 are preferred sited. 300 is pretty close and is also a pet loop. 400 and 700 are across the road from the 100-200 entrance and would be the closext premium loops to the lake.
