I haven't read tooooo much about Nine Dragons. How is it? How is the atmosphere? Is it just "typical" chinese food that you can get locally or is it a step up? I don't want to waste time eating Chinese at Disney World if it's not exceptional but we do enjoy chinese food so I'm really tempted!

How about for kids, too? Our girls will be 4 and 2 1/2 when we go. Do kids like it ok there?

THANKS!

I know I am in the minority here on the boards, but I love 9 Dragons, it is one of my favorites. It is definitely American-ized Chinese food. But, I personally think it's a step above standard Chinese restaurants you'd find in your neighborhood. And the Honey Sesame Chicken is one of my favorite entrees anywhere.

However, it is kind of expensive for the type of food you get, but I think that is true for 90% of the restaurants in WDW.

It's fine. We have better Chinese restaurants here at home that are much cheaper, so we normally skip Nine Dragons. The food isn't bad or anything, it's just very ordinary for the price.

That's what I kind of figured..... Everything at Disney is overpriced. Still can't beleive we're going to fork out $30 per person for bkfst. (Akerhaus) But all in the name of keeping the girls happy, eh?

We're big fans of 9 Dragons also. The food is just as good as you will get at any of the other WS options. It is a bit americanized but I think most of the Chinese food we eat here in the US is.

The resturaunt itself is very nice. Dark woods and authentic looking artwork. The staff is very friendly and the server will show you how to write Chinese and tell you about their home if you ask.

Hi there. I have ADRs there for May because I love Chinese food, at least what we Americans know Chinese food as! I was worried because we haven't heard much about, but very recently I read reviews on it, and they were positive. Yes, it is more expensive then take out Chinese you can get at home, but as someone else mentioned, that can be said of most restaurants in the World.

When I was there the food was very good. I was amazed at the flavors of tea (iced and hot), so many to choose from. The Sesame Chicken was very good. It was a nice atmosphere and good service. While it's definately more expensive than home, it was very good and well everything is more pricey in WDW. I liked it and would definately go back.

My family really enjoys 9 Dragons. Great service and lots to select from. We have always loved the food there and even our 2 yr olds love it! We have always had great and fast service. It is usually a little quieter than other places.

We have had lunch at Nine Dragons several times, and its been very good everytime. Our whole family (7) of us had New Years Eve dinner last year also.
The service has always been top notch, the food although americanized has always been very good ( I love the Dim Sum). We cant wait to go back this Aug.

We love Nine Dragons! It is one the easier places to get last minute ADR's also. We went in Sept and thought it was wonderful. The service was the best we had all vacation.

Now I know this will be TMI: but they share the restroom with the counter service next door and there are only 3 stalls in the ladies room.

I hate to be the voice of dissent here, but I just ate at Nine Dragons last month, and I'm afraid that I can't give it a good review. We had never eaten there before, and DH wanted to try it, so we decided to give it a shot. The food was extremely bland and really overpriced. We actually thought that the food at Yak & Yeti CS in AK was better than Nine Dragons. We ate at the CS Chinese restaurant last year and enjoyed it, so I was really surprised at the poor quality of the food at Nine Dragons. As for ambiance, it really wasn't anything spectacular. It is very, very crowded in there. The tables are very close together, and it is very noisy. If you want Chinese food in Epcot, I recommend going to the CS restaurant and eating there.

Another :thumbsup2 for 9 Dragons! The food was tasty and the portions were large. I don't know about paying OOP, but it was worth it being on the dining plan.

9 Dragons is an absolute GEM!!! We discovered it this past trip and it was just amazing. I'm so glad that it isn't popular and we can just pop in when the mood hits!:goodvibes

Nice to hear so many positive reviews! I guess it's just to be expected that you'll pay a bit more simply b/c it's "Disney". But the idea that it may be a bit less hectic than some of the other places is a nice thought too!

Any idea how difficult it would be to walk in for early dinner? (We're unsure what we want to do on arrival day - but if we went it'd be around 430-5p)

What's the best dish you had??

I don't think they do walk-ups. We were in line to check in and a woman ahead of us asked if they would be able get a table and it sounded like the CM told her that she had to have reservations...don't know if it was for that night or if it is one of the resturants that you have to have reservations even if the place is empty.

Loved the sesame chicken! The fried rice looked yummt too.

We ate at Nine Dragons in January and enjoyed it! The staff was wonderful (it was Chinese New year!) We got....

Nine Dragons Lunch Box Set - $18.98/per person
Enjoy our handcrafted fresh-baked sesame bread with your choice of:
Canton Pepper Beef Brisket OR
Saucy Chicken OR
Xi'An Pulled Pork
Served with a light and tasty beef soup and Chinese coleslaw

I had the pork and DD had the chicken. I had iced and she had hot tea.

Prior to the remodel, we went with my parents and had the family lunch - we each had soup and then family style servings of several different entrees.

We were pleased both times. It is a step up from the strip mall Chinese take outs we usually frequent.

Very easy to do a walkup there! I had the 5 spiced fish, DD general tso chicken and husband steak and shrimp, all entrees were top notch!
