We ate at Nine Dragons on 9/15 and were pleasantly surprised! We do have good Chinese food where we live, and we thought that the food at Nine Dragons was tasty!

We had a noon ADR and were seated by the window, a nice location. The restaurant was nearly empty (during free dining!) and the service was excellent. Two times we had managers come by and ask about our meal. Our server was friendly and took the time to talk about Chinese characters to us. She even gave us extra placemats to bring home so we could practice our writing.

We all enjoyed our entrees! The General Tso chicken I had was very good with just the right amount of spice. My only criticism is that there should have been some steamed or stir fried veggies on the side. That would have rounded out the meal nicely and have added color to the plate.

Ds had noodles and shrimp and cleaned his plate.

Ds enjoyed the honey chicken. I had a bite and it was good.

For dessert, the kids liked their ginger cake. I gave it a try and didn't care for it as much as they did. I had the caramel ginger ice cream, which was OK but not a favorite. Although the desserts didn't wow me (which is fine, as China isn't as big on sweets as Americans are), the entrees and service were good. I'm glad we gave Nine Dragons a try!

Thanks for the photos! We ate there on our trip in January 2009 and it was really good! I know a lot of people say they want to "try new things" with the dining pland and could "eat Chinese" at home. But, I thought it was a good choice. We will be back...

Glad you enjoyed it! The pictures have me wanting Chinese food so I think that is what's for dinner since today is packing for our trip.

We have been to Nine Dragons twice and both time we have loved it so I am glad to see it getting a good review. The service was also great both times.

ETA: Just wanted to say that we were not thrilled with the dessert offerings either but I really enjoyed the red bean/strawberry ice cream and I hate strawberry ice cream!

I'm glad you both enjoyed your meals there. Nine Dragons is a place that seems to get more mixed reviews than most restaurants in the World Showcase. Now that I've tried it, I consider it to be a hidden gem!

Thanks for your review. We avoided ND for years because of the reviews on this board. We tried it a couple of years ago and wondered why we had waited so long! My kids loved it! I agree about the vegetables, BTW!

Thank you so much for the fab review:thumbsup2. We had never considered eating here until a friends DF said it was his favourite meal on his last trip to WDW, now that you've confirmed how good it is Nine Dragons is a definate for our next visit (which is not until Aug'2012 but hey you can never plan to early can you ;):lmao: )
