OK, I just wanted to start this topic to get some opinions and feedback on a few things. Me and my dad stayed at the Holiday Inn Nikki Bird (before it became HSM) and enjoyed every stay we had there. The service was always good, the rooms weren't spectacular but were cleaned daily by maids and overall, the hotel was well kept and the facilities were of good standard.

When we stayed there back in 2000, 2001 and 2004, everything was great. The staff were friendly, the restaurant was good and the lobster meal always attracted many. The place had a bustling atmosphere and made out trips very enjoyable. My question is, what all went wrong for the place? I read reviews from after the HSM crossover and it seems like the place has gone to the pits.

I would just like to get some feedback from recent guests there. No plans for an immediate trip there, but when we go back to Orlando for our next trip, shall we rule the place out completely? Thanks guys :thumbsup2

we drove by to eat at Angel's this past march and the place is a dump!
in fact there were several police units there beating on a hotel door.

the lobby was filthy and the type of guests there were certainly not disney type of guests.

we stayed there when it was Nikki Bird in 2000 and no comparison.

That's not good to hear! In fact, I saw a parody of the place on youtube "The Dickie Bird Hotel" and it seems the place really has a bad reputation now :(

It makes me sad because the place holds a lot of memories for me, and it's such a shame to hear what's happened..

Amen, we rescued a woman from Iowa there last year who was staying for a couple of months and told horror stories. We helped her find a nice Windsor Palms condo for a month for just a little more that they were charging for a small motel room. It has become a place for many transient workers to stay. Most are good hard working folk...but there are enough very difficult situations to make staying there quite scary according to our friend.

WE STAYED THER IN 2000 AND IT WAS GREAT. WE STAYED THERE A FEW YEARS AGO AND IT WAS AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE. THEY TREATED US TERRIBLY . THEY HAD OUR RESERVATION WRONG. THE ROOM STUNK AND THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IT WAS SO BAD THAT WE ENDED OUR VACATION A COUPLE A DAYS EARLY. AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE WE NEVER GO TO DISNEY UNLESS WE CAN AFFORD TO STAY ON DISNEY PROPERTY!pirate: princess:

what a shame. stayed there around 2000 or so with my wife and daughter age 6. what a blast. i remember Angels for a great Burger. at night id run to the arcade and win sun-glasses. great time. great memories. your kid is only 6 once. would have been cool to reminisce on our next trip in a few months-

It is no longer "Nikki Bird", I think it's called Home Suite Home. It's now a cheap weekly rental place. It's run down and there is bullet proof glass in the lobby in front of the cashiers. Unfortunately I stayed there a few years ago, rented it for a week, left after 2 days.

I had never heard of this place so did a quick google search. I ended up reading some of the reviews on tripadvisor. Oh my. Why would anyone subject themselves to this on a vacation??

There are hundreds of very nice properties outside of Disney property. The Disboards are a great place to do your research to help find them.

Not sure what happened to this place (or why) but it turned from decent hotel to some sort of weekly rental place. Stay away - very scary place. We stayed here in 2002 when my DD was 1 and it was nice enough. Now we stay at WH for the same price and will never go back to a cramped hotel room in Kissimmee.

awww just seen this name and it brought back memories.... the Nikki Bird was one of the first places we stayed and loved it. This must have been way back in 2000 also or before we stayed 3 or 4 times. It was budget friendly and clean and had that great little pool out the back, very close to Disney too. So sad to hear its gone now. R I P Nikki Bird.
