Lovin the pictures. Emma is a cutie and I love her shirt

:goodvibes

Looks like you guys had a great DIS meet in NYC! And how funny that you not only ran into a brazilian tour group, but that you got a picture with the lady!

Wasn't that so funny! She was a good sport.

Looks like you had a blast at your Dismeet, look like lots of fun :) Loving all the photos from Emma and your Dad's birthday party, she has gotten so big, it wasn't long ago you were posting little baby pictures of her :cutie:

I know, I can't even believe how big she is. Time flies!

I am waaaaaaaay behind but catching up... have to say congrats on the camera! You really can't go wrong with anything Nikon makes... they also make little "cheat cards", which are laminated cardstock that has all the functions and features on it, which is great when you don't want to lug around a manual with you. You're going to love the shots you get!:thumbsup2

Glad you're here! I would LOVE to hear more about these cheat cards! I've been reading my book and keep thinking I should be taking notes!

Just catching up and saying:wave2:. Your pictures look great.:thumbsup2 I am sure that you will be a "pro" by the time September rolls around. I recently signed up for the Wine and Dine 5K also so maybe I will see you there!:yay:

Kelly

Hi Kelly! That's so great that you signed up for the 5K! Hopefully, we will "run" into each other. :lmao:

It was so much fun. I also wish we had more time to spend together. It felt like we were used to hanging out lol

Do you have a Penn Camera store near you? They always carry them, and I've seen a few online at Amazon, but they are multiple cards, and the ones I see at the store are just a single sheet that folds out.

I'll see if I can't find one online for you!:thumbsup2

I don't think so. I'll look online. Thanks!

Another Fun Night in NYC!

So last night, Tom and I drove into the city again, this time to meet my sister and DBIL for dinner at McGees and the Addams Family Musical!!

First of all, driving into the city, I had Tom snap this pic because EVERY time I pass it, it reminds me of a certain memorable landmark.....anyone think they know what I mean??

ry%3D480

Spaceship Earth, right?? Even my just-turn-3-year-old niece screamed, "It's Disney World" the last time she passed it! Actually, it's the IMAX theater at Liberty Science Center.

We luckily found a parking spot pretty quickly again, practically IN Times Square, on 48th st, which was good because the restaurant was on 55th and the show on 46th.

Our restaurant of choice? McGees again! Remember we ate there first when we saw the Radio City Christmas Show and again recently when we saw Mary Poppins. There reason we like this restaurant is because a) it's on restaurant.com so I got a $25 gift cert for $3 and b) it's the restaurant/bar that MacLaren's from How I Met Your Mother was based off of...and we LOVE that show! You'll see there is a picture of the cast on the wall right behind us.

ry%3D480

We left the restaurant and exactly the WRONG time, which we came to realize in 2 minutes after I took this picture of my sister with the Ed Sullivan theater....

ry%3D480

So we're weaving in and out of people on the busy street headed toward the theater, when all of a sudden, we started feeling a little spritz, then a little drizzle.....then the skies opened up and before we knew it, it was a massive downpour!!! I pulled out my very light cardigan and used it primarily to cover my shoulder and my Dooney bag!!! Now those of you who remember, I spent an unheard of (almost) $300 on that bag!!! I swear, that must be more than all the bags I ever bought in my life combined!! So I was not going to let it get wet. I also had a small umbrella in my bag for such emergencies so I whipped that out but it really did nothing. I was also concerned because I had my new Reefs on, and those of you who followed my last TR know that new Reefs + rain is a no-no!! Remember, I carried a pair of "rain reefs" in my bag so that when it rained, I would switch my new ones for my old ones so they wouldn't get ruined? Well, that was on my mind too....it was a stressful few minutes!! So the four of us went through periods of running, turning to each other with bewildered looks like, "What are we doing?!" At one point, I remember trying to find shelter in a phone booth before we just decided to keep running again. Finally we made it to the theater, completely drenched!

ry%3D480

And I kid you not, as soon as we got there, it stopped raining. If we had left 5 minutes earlier or 5 minutes later, we would've been fine. We just left at the exact wrong time!

Now I know from WDW experience that when you are wet from rain, the LAST thing you want to do is go into any building that has air conditioning....but we couldn't avoid that. So in we went. Now we don't normally buy merch when we see musicals, especially clothes but Tom immediately bought a long-sleeve shirt, I think before we even found our seats! He said when he went in the bathroom to change his shirt, there was BIL with his shirt OFF, trying to dry it under the hand drier! I had a jeans skirt on that was dripping wet but my shirt was loose and light so I was just hoping it would dry. All I really wanted was a cup of coffee, and I'd be good......except Tom came back with the bad news that they don't sell coffee!!! Grrrr! Eventually, a few minutes before the show, Tom and the woman sitting behind us, convinced me I should buy a shirt too so my sister and I bought them too and changed in the bathroom!

I was a little uncomfortable sitting for the show but it really wasn't too bad. The show was great!! It starred Brook Shields as Morticia and Roger Rees as Gomez. (I know Roger Rees from Robin Hood: Men In Tights, he plays the Sheriff of Rottingham!) They were both really good. The girl who played Wednesday was absolutely fantastic! And in her bio, I found out she played Ariel, Belle and Nemo in WDW. (I'm assuming in the shows because her singing voice was amazing!)

The show overall was fun...not the BEST musical I've seen but I'm so glad we went! AND we had amazing seats....5th row.

So after the show, we decided to hang around to meet the cast. I've never done that before so it was certainly an experience!

My sister spotted this girl in the theater. Apparently she is from Modern Family. After the show, she was also waiting outside but was soon sent inside. (Later she came out with Brook and when I looked it up, I found out they did a show together so I'm assuming they are friends.)

ry%3D480

This woman played Wednesday's BF's mother and she was fantastic!!

ry%3D480

This guy played the father. Also very good.

ry%3D480

Here is Rachel Potter, the girl who played Wednesday and is a WDW alumni!

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

This guy played Fester...obviously!

ry%3D480

And then out came Roger Rees!

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

He even posed for a pic with us! Although my point and shoot camera has such a horrible delay on it, he was bored with the picture and turned away by the time it actually took.

ry%3D480

And then out came Brook Shields!

ry%3D480

They made it clear before she came out that you could take her picture but she was not stopping to pose. Unlike everyone else, she also wouldn't sign anything BUT the playbill or program. Even one person next to me had everyone signing the back of the poster (that was plain white) and she told them to turn it over so she could sign the picture. I guess they don't want people just selling her autograph.

ry%3D480

This would have been a great picture of her signing my book by my sister's hand/camera is in the way!!

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

Here we all are in our matching shirts! Haha!

ry%3D480

And the signed playbill!!

ry%3D480

I'm so glad we decided to stay. It was really hectic and people were pushy but it was really fun!!

Hi Nikki!

Yes, Lipstick Jungle with Brook Shields, right?

What a fun evening. I didn't even know there was an Addams Family musicale.

Great update. I would love to be able to go into NYC to catch a show like that from time to time. I went with my oldest daughter on her Senior trip to NYC this past April and I loved it. We saw Wicked which was awesome. So, now I can't wait for my youngest daughter to be a Sr. in three more years so I can go again!

Looks like you had a great night out and awesome that you got to meet the cast :) That girl is from Modern Family and she is quite funny in it, she also reminds me of Mila Kunis for some reason too, like her younger sister :)

Great pictures of the cast! My sister and I had a similar experience years ago before we went to see Aida - it downpoured and we were absolutely drenched and had to sit in the theatre sopping wet! We went your DBIL's route and tried to dry off in the bathrooms, but it was pretty unsuccessful!!! :rotfl:

Looks like you guys had a great time in the city! I'm originally from southern CT and going into New York was always one of my favorite things to do. I miss it!

Hey Nikki!!!

I am a long time lurker and have read all of your trip reports and finally got caught up with this one!

I first started reading your honeymoon/wedding trip report when I was busy researching my own Disneymoon! :goodvibes I too am having an at-home Disney wedding and a Disneymoon! I am a teacher also, elementary ( but currently at wal-mart, while I am looking for a job) AND to top it off my soon to be DH is named Tom! :lmao:

I can't wait to read all about this trip! I plan on making my own TR for my Disneymoon! :)

I am obsessed with Dooney Disney bags! I too am very thrifty and haven't bought one YET! I am hoping I will get one for my bridal shower! :rolleyes1

I am trying to get into jogging! Any tips for a beginner?

Hope the job market looks up for Tom! And much congrats on being a DisneyTravel Agent!! Dream come true!! I love planning trips! I might have to use you to book our anniversary trip next year! :goodvibes

great updates. Love the musical update too! so sorry you got soaked, you guys were just sopping wet! what a fun DIS meet too! i have her TR actually saved/subscribed to, but just haven't gotten around to reading it all yet- i actually started it this am, and when i saw you post her pic (and her son's), i recognized them from reading their TR this am! too funny! ;)

and LOL at the Brazilian tour group, now that was a funny coincidence!:rotfl:

WOW!! Two excellent trips into NYC! I'm so happy you got to have a DISmeet- they are always so much fun. :goodvibes And I love that you stayed at the backstage door to meet the cast- that's always cool. I met Hugh Jackman after Boy from Oz that way- he was a great guy to all the fans. :thumbsup2

Love the gift you gave your Dad- you really are ALL Disney geeks, aren't ya? :rotfl:

What a fun evening. I didn't even know there was an Addams Family musicale.

Haha! It's fairly new. I think it came out in the Winter.

We saw Wicked which was awesome. So, now I can't wait for my youngest daughter to be a Sr. in three more years so I can go again!

How far is it for you? I really do love how close we are to NYC to be able to just go for a few hours. :thumbsup2 I never saw Wicked! I read the book and didn't love it...mostly because I'm a purist and I kept saying, NO, that's not how it happened! Haha!

Looks like you had a great night out and awesome that you got to meet the cast :) That girl is from Modern Family and she is quite funny in it, she also reminds me of Mila Kunis for some reason too, like her younger sister :)

Yes, she does sort of look like Mila Kinus! I love her!

Hahaha! Glad we aren't the only ones. Unfortunately, I didn't see anyone else in the theater with our problem, it was like it just rained on US! Haha!

Looks like you guys had a great time in the city! I'm originally from southern CT and going into New York was always one of my favorite things to do. I miss it!

It really is great to be able to do it. We go in more now that Tom doesn't work there anymore. When he was going into the city 5 days a week for work, the last thin he wanted to do on the weekend was go back!

So glad you're caught up!! I did join your PTR a while ago and was reading....I have to catch up! Sounds like we have a lot in common! Hopefully, you will find something on the job front soon. It's so hard for teachers!

Have you dropped any hints to your bridesdmaids about the dooney?? Haha! I hope you get it! Which one do you have your eye on?

I have NO jogging advice! I am the worst at it! I only do it a few months out of the year, I am very slow and I probably look like a fool! My only advice is to not go too far on the first few days. Start slow and it'll only take a few days to be able to go farther but if you push it on the first day, I always wind up with a wicked ear headache from lack of oxygen because I'm not used to breathing like that!

Thanks for the congrats on becoming an agent!! I'm loving it!! Definitely keep me in mind for you anniversary trip! ;)

Oh you should definitely read Brook's TRs! They are great, loaded with pictures, which I love! Wasn't that so funny about the tour group?! :lmao:

Hahaha! Yes, we really are all Disney geeks! I blame them, although their lack of internet savvy allowed me to far surpass the family's Disney obsession! I am so fortunately that they took me to WDW so many times growing up. It's too bad our trips only overlap for one day.

Hugh Jackman seems like the type that would be so nice! I've never done that before and it was pretty cool!

Well, it is a long way for us. We live in Iowa. Right smack dab in the middle of the country. So, when we were out there we rode a charter bus, ughhhhh. It was around a 24 hour drive. As we left NYC at 4:00 pm and got home the next day around 5:00. But that included lots of rest stops and food breaks.

As for Wicked, I have never read the book but would love to. Seeing it though, really put a different spin on the thinking of the Wizard of Oz. The singing was just outstanding. Me and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to see many more theater productions.

Your trip into NY looks like a lot of fun and your new camera is awesome. I am still trying to catch up after being away so much this summer. Your pictures with your new camera look great though. I can't wait to invest in a better camera.
