We are getting ready to book our October trip either to AKL or FWL within the next day or so. AKL gets us cheaper rate so its looking better and better. That said we are a family of 5 and stay at the parks from morning to close. What is the bus service like leaving the parks (mainly MK) to AKL? Last year we stayed at CR and the walk way between MK and CR totally spoiled me with the kids. It was so nice to be home within about 10 minutes from MK.

In general, AKL has (IMHO) the best bus service in WDW! Because the resort is tucked away from the other resorts and parks, it has the most dedicated buses of any of the hotels. Consequently, all of your bus trips are direct without stopping at other parks and resorts. WL (which I think is what you mean instead of Fort Wilderness Lodge... Fort Wilderness is the campground) actually has several other stops on it's bus routes, so it can take a while to get to and from the parks. If you are staying at WL, your best bet is the boat ride to MK. It's slow, but more direct.

Buses run long after the parks have closed by an hour or two, and while you can't beat just walking home to your room at CR from MK, the AKL buses are the next best thing to being on a monorail route. They depart from the MK (and all other parks) quite often, especially after park close, and you will have a short 10-15 min ride back to AKL. Go for it! :thumbsup2
