I'm just sitting here in the cold, miserable, who would know that Spring-has-just-started, Sydney weather, DD5 has just landed a huge cold, she's off school today and probably tomorrow, and has been lying in my lap. We've been talking about our trip starting in 3 weeks.

We were wondering what rides would extra fun at night???

Our fireworks night will be Fri 3 October and I'm thinking of arriving back at the park after our rest around 5.30/6pm.

I'd like to Junge Cruise at night, any other suggestions????

First off, I am so sorry about the cold. I am just getting over mine, which I had for over a week. It sucked.

For night time rides, my first and biggest vote goes to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The best at night!! Jungle Cruise is another great one. I fyou get the opportunity right as you are arriving to the park, I also recommend Storybookland Canal boats at dusk. That way, it is still light enough to see everything, it is dark enough to see it with the little bitty lights on, and you are not sitting on the boats in the blazing LA sun. Matterhorn is also good at night, and I could see Autopia being fun, but now that I think about it, I dont think I have ever ridden it in the dark. Sounds fun though.

HTH!!

I also vote for BTMRR! It is my all time favorite at night, you have a great view of the park and all of the lights. Ask to sit in the back, it adds a little extra excitement to the ride!

Nemo also has a different feel at night and is purdy before you go under the waterfall, Casey Jr. is also fun, and of course JC!

Don't forget about the Matterhorn. It's also a different experience at night. Storybook Land is something else at night. In fact I think it's the number 1 must do attraction at night. It's so cool with all the different areas lit up.

Hey, I already mentioned those!!:thumbsup2

Yeah, I managed to not see the word Matterhorn in your post. D'oh!! I did see Storybook Land, so I mentioned why I like it so much at night. I rarely do it during the day because it's so amazing at night.

It is a different experience. I do not ride it in day at all because of the sun though. I love sun, but not blazing straight down on me with all that water around, and nowhere to duck for shade!!

Thanks for the question, Kylie and the responses, everyone.

We never went to DL after dark when I went as a young 'un, so looking forward to the different experience this time. Actually, maybe the park wasn't open later when I was younger ? :confused3

I like the Jungle Cruise at night, it's alittle spooky:scared:
I LOVE the Matterhorn at night..all the lights are so beautiful each time you come out of the mountain!

This time I really want to try California Screamin at night..we always go in Sept during the week so it's never dark when we're there, closing at 6pm:headache:

Agreed with dizneekrazee and everyone else with Big Thunder!

One of my most cherished Disney memories was going with my entire family on Big Thunder (cousins, uncles, aunts, the lot), and RIGHT when we came out of one of the tunnels, a firework exploded in the shape of the trademark Mickey Head and filled the entire sky with light.

It was awesome :rotfl:

Almost all the rides in Fantasyland (Alice, dumbo, teacups, carosel, casey Junior) are great at night.....add in matterhorn and it is the place to be ! Then Take the back trail to BTMRR, and your night is complete !

I am a close the park down kind of girl......I love DL at night, and would rather plan my day to be rested at night, then to get there at EE.

I like Splash at night. What, you think I'm crazy? :confused3 Well, that's why I love it -- NO LINES! :thumbsup2

Teacups at night are a whole different experience. Especially if someone else spins and you spend the ride looking straight up. Wheeeee! :dance3:

I have to go with BTMRR during the fireworks is awesome and then Splash.

Jack

I agree Matterhorn and BTMRR are "must do's" at night and day.

Over at DCA it is ToT for us and then maybe CS.

Another vote for BTMRR as well as Splash. Autopia is fun at night, too.

has anyone else ever noticed that BTMRR seems faster at night? maybe it's only when it's cold, but we had AP's for a couple of years, and would go a couple of times a week, sometimes more. it always seemed to us (again, this was during months when it was getting pretty chilly at night), that BTMRR was noticeably faster at night than it had been earlier in the day. it got to the point where it actually made us a little nervous, so we stopped riding it at night, lol.
