I wanted to post this here too in case not everyone reads the thread I originally chose. Thank you.

Hi everyone. I am new here and I am really hoping this is the right forum and thread to get help. From what I have been reading, I believe it is a good place to start!

I am looking for some help for Disney's Night Of Joy 2004, September 9th, 10th, and 11th at the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, FL.

I understand that's it's still early and that's why more info isn't available at the web sites for just this event, but I have some generic questions as I need to let work know if it's going to work out for us.

I have been reading and reading on the net trying to find out past info/reviews to see if I can get answers. I have even joined in live chats and everyone has a different thought.

So, if you will, here's what I need to know and what I think I have figured out.

It's at the Magic Kingdom and it's private event? So the park is open during the day as usual?, until the event takes place? Then those who aren't going are let out, and those who have tickets for the Night Of Joy are let in?

This is where the confusion came in. People were saying that you can't go early to the stage you want because it's a seperate admission. That I understand. It's like paying to go to a concert. I realize it's not inclusive like paying for a fare, using the rides and seeing whatever concert you want.

Here's my thing. What if I am going to ALREADY be in the Magic Kingdom doing everything it has to offer. So I have paid for my ticket to that, PLUS I hold and have paid for a ticket ALSO for the Night Of Joy?

I have been receiving various answers-mostly guesses. Please help! I am so confused. I thougth it would be best to ask those who went, but those who only went to the concert, not the park prior, had all sorts of answers.

Basically, am I correct that the park IS open as normal PRIOR to the Night Of Joy. How does it work if I have a ticket for the park AND the conert. I was told I couldn't stay? Would have to leave with the rest, then join the concert goers on another train ride?

I hope this is making some sense. Sorry it's so long!

I am not at all concerned about hours or ticket prices or anything like that. I am just one of those folks that needs to know things!

I'm just wondering how the whole transition works and what the rules are.

I guess I will leave it at that for now. I am sure I will think of more questions as answers come in!

Thanks anyone ahead of time.

From what I gather here... http://allearsnet.com/tp/mk/noj.htm the official closing time of MK will be an hour before the concert will begin. It sounds similar to other ticketed events I have been to, you can go get a wrist band and stay for the concert and other activities, otherwise you will be "ushered" out. I hope that all made sense... so in short MK will be open until an hour before and either you can stay with a wrist band for the concert or you'll have to leave. Enjoy going and welcome to the DIS!!! :)

Thank you for the info, link and reply. This is the info I have been looking for. Looking forward to more info from anyone who has done this too. I just started looking for info yesterday, and came across this play. Cool forum/website. Thank you.

Hi, and thank you so much. See, I'm glad I came here because these other people that I asked told me a completely different start time than what I have been reading about as I find the past Joy Of Night events. The 7:30 PM-12:30 am makes a whole lot more sense for so many reasons.

That's the way I started to figure it would have to be if this was a private event, yet the Kingdom was still open during the day. What I think they misunderstood was that I was going to have a tikcet and paid to be in the Kingdom those days as a normal day, plus have and paid for my Joy Of Night ticket too. Why would they make me leave the Kingdom when it closes for Joy Of Night when I already have a ticket for Joy Of Night. They kept telling me I would have to leave because it was a seperate admission.

That sounds so interesting to me how they shut down the Kingdom and wisk everyone off to get ready for this.

Has anyone ever been at the Magic Kingdom for the day then be told that was closed now to get ready for a special event.

My basic question in all this was really just if we would be allowed to stay at the Kingdom since we already were there from that day and too/plus had tickets for NOJ. I think the confusion was coming because they thougth I was saying I only had tickets for either the Kingdom that day OR the NOJ, not both.

From the link you gave me for last year, I see that there is maybe a deal for tickets to the park during the day when you have an admission ticket for NOJ.

Say, since I actually have someone here who worked it. So how does this work as far as the acts playing? Guess it's not one stage one after another. That would be cool though. Sounds more like various acts at different stages througout the park at different times?

Hi Marie, and welcome to the DIS. :wave2:

Pretty well explained above. I di NoJ in 2000, and that is the way it worked. It is a nice evening, lots of fun, nice music.

Oh I wish I could go to Night of Joy. :(

I loove Jars of Clay, Supertones, and Switchfoot. In fact I'm listening to Switchfoot right now. ::yes::

I would love to to experience this!

What a wonderful world this would be if people listened to this music and actually applied the words to their lives.

What a wonderful vessel. :D

Night of Joy to Showcase 24 Acts Over Three Nights As Disney Plans Its Biggest Christian Music Event Yet

Thursday March 11, 11:22 am ET
Star-Filled Lineup Has Won 165 Dove Awards and 21 Grammy Awards

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Walt Disney World Resort has unveiled plans for an unprecedented Night of Joy in September 2004 that will showcase the biggest, most-decorated lineup of contemporary Christian music talent in the event's 22-year history.

The marquee includes 24 acts spread across three consecutive evenings

Sept. 9-11 -- including a first-ever Thursday evening Night of Joy. The
expansion to a third night follows early sellouts in recent years.
"The demand for wholesome family entertainment like that provided by Night of Joy increases every year," said Walt Disney World President Al Weiss. "So we are expanding our offerings -- and we hope our guests will enjoy the result."

The result is 24 acts that have amassed 165 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards and 21 Grammy Awards. The star-studded lineup features three-time and reigning artist-of-the-year Michael W. Smith, six-time artist-of-the-year Steven Curtis Chapman, two-time female vocalist-of-the-year winners CeCe Winans and Jaci Velasquez, king of contemporary gospel Kirk Franklin, three- time and reigning group-of-the-year Third Day, three-time group-of-the-year 4Him, and two-time group-of-the-year winners Jars of Clay and Point of Grace.

But that's not the half of this year's Night of Joy lineup. They are joined by Avalon, Rebecca St. James, Salvador, FFH, Mark Schultz, Skillet, Jeremy Camp, Joy Williams, Stryper, 12 Stones, SONICFLOOd, downhere, Across the Sky, Jump 5 and Warren Barfield.

Here's how they will line up in the Magic Kingdom at Night of Joy:

Thursday, Sept. 9 Friday, Sept. 10 Saturday, Sept. 11
Michael W. Smith Steven Curtis Chapman Kirk Franklin
Avalon Third Day Jaci Velasquez
Jars of Clay Rebecca St. James CeCe Winans
Point of Grace Skillet 12 Stones
4HIM Stryper Salvador
FFH SONICFLOOd Jeremy Camp
Mark Schultz downhere Joy Williams
Across the Sky Warren Barfield Jump 5

Performances will take place at several stage locations between 7:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. each evening (following regular Magic Kingdom closing). Popular attractions will also be available for guests to enjoy during Night of Joy hours.

One-, two-, and three-night tickets will be available beginning April 21 by calling 407/W DISNEY or by visiting www.disneyworld.com/nightofjoy on the Internet. Advance tickets are $36.95 (plus tax) for one night, $59.95 (plus tax) for two nights and $79.95 (plus tax) for three nights. Tickets will also be available at Florida locations of Family Christian Stores. One-day tickets on event days -- if available -- are $41.95. The event has been sold out in advance in recent years.

In addition, a special Disney's Dream Maker package will also be available starting April 21. The package combines admission to all three evenings of Night of Joy, hotel accommodations, and Ultimate Park Hopper ticket for admission to all four Walt Disney World theme parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon water parks, and more. Information and reservations will be available by calling 407/W-DISNEY.

Seventeen of the 24 Night of Joy acts are nominated for a total of 41 Doves in 2004 -- including nearly half of the nominations for the prestigious vocalist-, group-, and artist-of-the-year honors. The 35th annual Dove Awards will be presented on April 28 in Nashville.

Michael W. Smith is nominated for artist-of-the-year. Third Day and Jars of Clay are up for group-of-the-year, while Steven Curtis Chapman, Mark Schultz and Jeremy Camp are among the five nominees for male vocalist-of-the- year. Night of Joy songbirds CeCe Winans, Rebecca St. James and Joy Williams are vying for female vocalist-of-the-year.

Jeremy Camp and Across the Sky are new-artist-of-the-year nominees.

Jeremy Camp and Across the Sky are also new to Night of Joy -- as are Mark Schultz, FFH, Skillet, SONICFLOOd, Warren Barfield and 12 Stones. On the other side, Michael W. Smith is making his ninth appearance (equaling Petra for most Night of Joy appearances).

A total of 96 different acts have been showcased at Night of Joy since the event's inception in 1983. A hallmark of the event has been the musical diversity, and 2004 is no exception with Rock, Pop, Alternative, Gospel, Urban and Latin styles showcased. A combined audience of nearly 800,000 people has enjoyed the musical variety over the years.

Say, ANYONE want to give me advice on buying tickets for the parks during the day? We are going to experience some of the parks during the day before Night Of Joy now that we have learned that we can just stay for Night Of Joy with prove of a ticket and at night when they reopen the park for Night Of Joy-we are only going to that for the concerts, not the park. I'm only going to need tickets for three days and won't be going to the waterparks. I've been reading all the info on all the different tickets packages and head is spinning. Just Magic Kingom, MGM, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom. Am I correct here. Those are the four parks that are included in a basic, if you will, ticket? Then I have read there is a difference between a ticket that gives you a pass for a certain amount of DAYS, and another that is the same but allows you to HOP?? I have been searching and have come across only 4 day passes anyway. I think one time I might have seen a site for a 3 day pass, but then someone mentioned that's it's cheaper to buy tickets for three days right at the park window because if you ask, the second and third day you get a break like of five or 10 dollars. Am I making and sense here!? LOL. Anyone want to throw there two cents in on any of this or link some online tickets sites? I guess I should actually be calling it a PASS. Most of my searches are only showing a four day pass. Thank you.
Any tips or suggestions are most welcome and appreciated.
Oh, we are AAA members. I am not thinking since I only need tickets for three days, and there doesn't seem to be many packages for this. Maybe I am better of to by single tickets from them before leaving home?

I just found this info below. I believe this is right up my ally?

Also, if anyone, including maybe someone who works at the park, would PLEASE help me out to confirm. We are getting further and further along here. I'm now at the point of just about knowing everything I need to know. Between two different forums, and my own searching it's great, but....just one more thing.

I totally understand that if I want to to a park, like the Magic Kindom during the day, before Night Of Joy, that I need a day pass, plus a hard ticket for Night Of Joy. I am too now convinced about being able to stay in the park for NOJ if I am already in there from my day pass. And I am reading about just making sure I get a wristband. I was just told on another forum that that to make all this work, I would have to go to city hall and get my wristband there. Can I please from anyone get another confirmation on this or understanding of this?

Also, in all my searching, I am not seeing anywhere officail to email some at Disney Customer Relations, if such a thing exist?

Thank you agian. Hope I am not becoming a pain!
