Since this is not a brand I normally shop I thought I'd ask the savviest shoppers I know!

There are normally sales/deals around this time for Northface. I got mine at Backcountry.com a couple years ago. I got DH's at macy's friends and family sale last year.

See if your niece can fit into a child's size Large/X-large. That is a money saver too, if she can do that.

moosejaw started there sale on the north face products in july so pickings are slim in size style and color but they do have plenty over all to choose from.

DD asked for a North Face but we found a Columbia jacket very similar to the NF she wanted and got it on sale at Kohls last weekend for around $35. She's worn it every day since. :) Luckily she is all for saving money. So, you might think about looking for Columbia jackets too.

I saw some gorgeous Columbia at Nordstrom Rack last night. Unfortunately she doesn't live close and I am having a hard time determining exactly what it is she wants.

She is thrifty too - went to the sporting goods store and left saying "well maybe I can get a north face scarf," but if she can just tell me what it is she wants I'm sure we can find a deal!

Find the specific jacket and size you want then go to ebay and search for that particular jacket and put NWT in your search... you can usually get the same jacket new with tag still on for 25-50% less than a store price... take a little more time but if its a christmas present you have enough time.

Please don't buy it off of ebay! 99% of them are fake! They've gotten really good at making the knock offs and the majority of the buyers don't know they aren't real. But when you put them side by side you can definitely tell! The weight of the fabric, quality of the stitching, zipper, etc. is significant! Coach is the #1 knock off seller on ebay right now, North Face is #2. :sad2: And they go for over $100....that's alot of money to pay for a knock off!!

6pm.com regularly has good deals for North Face. Got a denali for $90 with free shipping. :woohoo:

North Face has a handful of stores at outlet malls. I know there is one in Orlando at the I-Drive outlets (not sure about where you are located).

Even at the outlet stores look for the sales racks, just because they are a store in an outlet mall doesn't mean you automatically get a killer deal!

Sports Authority carries The North Face and this week has 2 coupons in their ad - $10 off a $50 purchase and $25 off a $100+ purchase. You could look there...

Keep an eye on Sierra Trading Post for great deals on Columbia. I just bought my husband a Columbia Ballistic fleece (like the Denali) in his school color and paid $42 shipped (MSRP was $150). If you sign up for their emails, you get some excellent coupons (which is how I got the jacket so cheaply). I'm having it monogrammed with his school name and logo (he's the principal) for Christmas. It will be great for him to wear to school. I was very pleased with it when it arrived.

Just for reference, I also bought him a North Face Denali a few months ago (can't remember where I bought it online but paid in the $80's). It's nice, but the Columbia seems like a nicer jacket.

If it's a kid, then North Face is a status symbol and I wouldn't try to replace it with something like Columbia. Some kids might not care but I wouldn't risk it.

6pm.com has a pretty good selection...or had not sure. we got the kids coats in july for this year...they are last years models but who is to know? Good luck. :D

I agree that with most kids it is about the status, so you want a true North Face. Also, most kids/teens want the Denali which is much harder to find on sale. My college age kids have been wearing theirs for years, so we have definitely gottn our money's worth out of them. Good Luck!

Usually the North Face products are excluded on their coupons. But I didn't read the fine print of the most recent one. So check it out before you try to use it and get disappointed.

Just wanted to let people know that if you purchase any TNF products from their outlet store, the lifetime warranty is null and void.

There are huge signs when you enter the store, and warranty cards on each product, are crossed out in marker.

Just an FYI should warranty be important to people. I find their products are top notch...way better than Columbia, so warranty might not be an issue, but I thought I'd let people know just in case.

Now if I buy a North Face jacket from someone located in China I might consider it a likely fake... but if I see a seller in the US that has no bad feedback I'll take the chance. And if the item happens to be a knock-off that is so good that I can't tell the difference well I've saved money so I wont care. I've traveled enough in foreign countries where counterfeits are common to know that their are counterfeits of nearly anything you could imagine. But I also know that on something silly like a fleece jacket that I'm not going to be depending on for my life... well I could care less if its fake or not. Most of the so called counterfeit clothes you find are made in the same factories as the real deal, made by the same workers and are only considered counterfeit because they were slipped out the back door to a different supply channel that bypasses the company that licensed the clothes... so in a way yes it would be counterfeit, but it would also be impossible for you or anyone else to tell the difference.... Now when it comes to things like a Rolex, well that is a different matter... those counterfeits are not made in the same factories and are clearly different than the real thing.... Your entire post causes me to imagine you working for Macy's trying to scare people away from good deals so they can be over charged by a big department store.

If you have a Hibbetts Sports around you I just received a $25 off of $75 purchase that they will let you use. It states can't be used on Northface, etc....but they have always let me use it for Northface. The manager said they didn't care they just want business. This has been at 2 separate store locations :).
