Nick's Make-a-Wish Trip!! Day Two updated! 2/28/09!

We leave at 5:30 am Monday.. Our limo will be here at 3am! :scared1: Home sorts stinks.. we leave GKTW at 10am for a noon flight home, will arrive home at 5pm.

I hope we get an early flight too, the way home is what I worry about more cause Brannon will be flying out of Orlando to go back to CA, and I don't want him to sit at the airport for hours by himself. At least whenever we get him there, he can just take the bus over to GKTW when ever.

I hope we have our times in the next week, so that is what they say.

How are you going to get any sleep the night before??? If the limo came to our house that early, I would just stay up all night...:rotfl2: there would be NO way I could go to sleep...:rotfl:

I have no idea how anyone is going to sleep. I told the kids they need to go to bed at 7pm on Sunday, so far they are okay with that. Dh and I.. who knows, We really don't want to stay up because we will have a full day ahead of us.

wow I thought our flight at 7am was early :lmao:
we decided to spend the night closer to the airport the night before so we won't have to get up till 4 ;)

wow you are really leaving in a few days I can't wait to hear all about it popcorn::

Okay.. I am going to attempt this, I can tell you that it isn't going to be nice pretty pictures because, well.. I didn't edit any of them, so the red eye is still there. Dh took most of them, which means there aren't that many! GRRRR.. I told him to make sure to take lots and lots of pics. The thing there is the most of is the two activities that I had the camera and that is about 80% of all the pics taken.

Anyways.. The send off party was awesome! Our wish volunteers and wish coordinator was there for the first part. Of course, I realized after the fact, that I took no pics with them and Nick, I emailed her and she said.. well we will just have to have another get together when you get home! :lovestruc They are soo nice.

Nick's party was at the Air and Space museum here. Of course it was blizzard conditions when we were trying to get there (about 35 miles away) we were so afraid we were going to be late but we got there just about the same time everyone else did.

Here are a couple of pics I took the next morning when we were leaving... not much snow but the winds were 50+ mph.

We got a private tour of the museum..

And then an awesome pizza party! We got our final itinerary and our expense check, I wasn't expecting that since we were told we would get it 2 to 4 day before we left. We got a cool carryon MAW bag with lots of goodies in it. Two Disney books, one for kids and one for adults. 3 MAW water bottles, lots of MAW temporary tatooes (like probably 100 of them). coloring books and activites for the older kids.. cards, slinky, MAW beach balls. So much I am probably forgetting.

They also gave him a Flight suit.. like you would wear if you were a real fighter pilot. It was way too big for him but that is okay.. it will be a great memory keeper for when he is a little older.

Okay.. I am going to have to stop here because I just got called into work. I hope to be able to finish it soon.

Awesome!!!

I just love the looks on Nicks face, you can see the total and utter happiness in it!!!!

How awesome Amy....:cool1: Nick looks so happy sitting on that jet...how cool is that...and to think your going from that cold snowy weather to sunny warm FL in a matter of days:banana:

Hey did your MAW chapter give you those MAW shirts or did you have to ask for them? I would love to get one for Jake.

We got those shirts on our very first visit. Nick actually has two since the first one they gave him was pretty small and then they gave him the next size up. We all have one, Kayla's is orange.. which is awesome. Mine pink.. not my fav but I will live. I can't remember Dh's but then the boys are that grey.. Nick also has a blue one.

First off.. can I ask for some prayers for a co-worker? The reason I got called in yesterday was because a very sweet para, that has been there forever, got her foot caught in the blinds and fell down some stairs at work (just a couple, not like a flight) but she is in the hospital with a cracked pelvis and she will have to have surgery on her shoulder. Her and her dh were going to Cancun soon to celebrate their 40th anniversary. :( I hope she is able to still go.

Okay.. I will try to get some more of this up before heading into work. So the night at the museum is a thing they do for the girl and boy scouts.. we were there with a couple of boy scout troops and we were supposed to sleep in a plane, but I will explain that later.

Here are some pics of the flight simulator they all go to go in. The boy scouts were a little ticked that our group got to do this and they got to build planes out of lego. And.. of course, my boys were upset they didn't get to play with the legos. :lmao:

There really isn't a good pic of Kayla on this tho.

Then they built rockets and got to launch them in the hanger, Nick got to go first and he did really well considering he is so much younger than all those boy scouts! After than the kids went and built little model airplanes and flew them and Nick had a blast with that as well. We had to modify his a little since he can't have rubber bands because of his latex allergy and wouldn't you know it.. his flew better than so many of the other kids there.

The boy behind Nick in that one is my nephew. LOL.. in the pic above and below, those are both my nephews.. I didn't realize it until I saw the pics up together.

We had a shortened tour at that point because things were running so behind but honestly we were all so tired, we could have skipped that all together and I don't think they would have noticed at all. Nick was the "line leader" and he loved every minute of it. There was a snack after that and then they started the movie.

When they said that the lights were going to go out, we didn't fully understand that the lights were going to go OUT! Like total darkness. While the kids were watching the movie, Jeff actually had to go out to the van and get a flashlight and we had to go to the plane and make the decision to move all the stuff back to the carpeted atrium. There was no way those kids (or us) were going to sleep in a total dark hangar. I freaked myself out just going in there with the light of my cell phone to retrieve the sleeping bags that were already in the plane! We told the kids and they didn't even care, they are such a great group of kids.

Nick was the first child to sleep, he left the movie early and him and Jeff fell asleep immediately. Gradually everyone else was out and I was very shocked that in a room that size with that many kids that all the kids were just "out" just like that. I didn't get any sleep because it was so cold but I did take a nap the next day. :)

We had a quick breakfast of donuts and juice and then checked out the gift shop. All the kids conned the parents into getting them something (of course).

Not a good pic of Kayla and her friend but.. oh well.

Off we went home and Kayla went to sleep. LOL

We did get another Big Give package in the mail yesterday. I will update that later.

Awesome photos, I can see that Nick is really having a Ball. I love the photo where he is at the table resting his head in both his hands, that photo shows total contentment :)

I dont think I would have wanted to sleep in a total pitch black hanger either:scared1:

How much fun!!! So cool that you get a full blown spend the night party for a send off! That is fantastic!

I love the flight simulator deal. Looks like so much fun! That poor Boy Scout Troop... :)

The light saber (is that how you spell that!?) picture is SO cool!! :)

Great party! Great pics!!

I can't wait to hear all about your trip! :)

I am finally caught up on yours.. Can't wait to read more!!!

Hope you have a fabulous time!!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes

What a great send off party. Your son looks so happy. Only a few days left...Have a great trip.

I'm so glad the boys like their shirts!! Thanks for sharing pictures! The kids like to know where all this stuff ends up!!

Have a great trip!!

I tell you, the DISboutiquers have really spoiled my family. I want to give another thanks to everyone, I think that all the packages and clothes made especially for them has made this trip super spectacular!!! :flower3:

We got this package a few days ago but with working everyday I haven't had time to get pics up.

Awesome Wish Shirts for the whole family. I am sorry but I guess you are all going to have to wait until the trip to see pics of DH and I. :rotfl2: I hate having my pic taken. Now.. the kids can't decide if they want to wear these shirts on the plane or the actual MAW shirts. :confused3

I guess we will see when the morning comes.

Nice.. ignore the pic of my kid up there picking his nose! Gross!

I am almost packed.. clothes wise anyways. You know how hard it is to get three kids to do anything? I keep telling them to decide what DS games they are going to take and to get chargers and cells and everything else totally ready.

Went to Walmart for some last min items and ended up spending over $100! All I needed was two adult toothbrushes and contact solution. But.. everyone wanted a new book to read on the plane and since it is Kayla's bday I let her buy two new shirts (which I notice she didn't put in the laundry to go on the trip, figures) and a bunch of little things, cereal and travel sized antibacterial wipes.. so on. Oh I also decided I needed a new razor so I got this cute little Venus travel kit that comes in a bag already.

It is so hard to believe in omg.. 36 hours we will be heading to the airport.
