Nick's Make-a-Wish Trip!! Day Two updated! 2/28/09!

Welcome home!!! I can't wait to see pictures and hear all about the trip. I am sure it was a trip of a lifetime.

Welcome home! I can't wait to hear about your trip! How fun that Kayla and Becca finally got to meet! :cheer2:

I would love to tell you all about it, but without pics.. it would be rather boring! Lets just say... it was COLD for the first few days we were there. 2am came mighty early! LOL.. The limo showed up at 2:40am and we were so not ready. Nick did amazing on all the flights especially considering he had to wear the dreaded mask and there was a 1hr delay going there and a two hr delay coming home.

I wish we could go back already. I miss the two a day ice creams.

Oh, but I'm not very good at waiting!:sad2: I will try to be patient!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who ate ice cream twice a day!

Man.. this stinks! I am due to go back to work tomorrow, Nick back to school and we both have horrible colds now. Jeff is in bed with the stomach flu. Noah missed Monday because of a staph infection on his face but he did go back today altho I just looked at his throat and it is horrible, plus he either reacted to the sunscreen or something else because his cheeks are covered in a rash.

Kayla seems to be the only one that came thru this trip healthy.

Gosh, sorry about Jeff that stinks Amy. I have read a couple of end trip reports and it seems that there quite a few that come home sick....hmmm, I hope it is nothing and he is feeling better. I guess if your gonna be sick, better it come at the end of the trip and not during the trip. It was so good to talk to you the other day...however I did forget to ask you one question, do you plan your days at which parks? Or does GKTW/MAW do that for you?

sorry you guys are sick
that is a worry of mine I plan to pump the vitamins into the kids while we are down there :thumbsup2

Gosh...sorry you guys are all sick!!

I think the stress gets to everyone's immune system. At least it waited till you got home! :)

That is a good idea! :)

We planned our own days. We didn't have to do any parks at all if we didn't want to. Also our MAW organization reccomends spending one day at the beach but it was so cold we didn't do that.

Okay.. I am just going to jump into this with or without photobuckets help.. :confused3 So, there might not be as many pics as I was hoping to post but I will upload as I am going instead of uploading them all at once and trying to get a lot of days done at once.

Day one! Started with the alarm going off at 2am and Jeff and I going to bed at 11pm thinking that we would finish packing when we got up. :lmao: Duh.. The kids had all gone to be pretty early, I would say they were all asleep by 8:30. All the kids got right up and out of bed... all except for Nick! He wasn't getting up for anything. Finally he was up around 2:30 and slightly dressed and walked downstairs just in time to look out the window and say.. mom the limo is here! WHAT?? :crazy2: we aren't ready? literally, at all. So we loaded up what we had and left knowing that we were going to be going to Walmart that night for what we hadn't packed. :rotfl:

In the limo (couldn't get a pic of the limo outside at 2am.. too dark)

The kids did really well on the airplanes considering none of them have ever flown before. Nick was not exactly pleased about having to wear a mask the entire time in the airport but once he had something to occupy his time he seemed not to notice it.

We sat on the runway in Atlanta for an hour and that was a little boring but once we got going, we were in Orlando in no time. We arrive in Orlando and Nick had to use the restroom.. which was a theme.. we have see the inside of every bathroom on every plane and in every airport but Orlando had something we had never seen before. I ran Nick in and came back out and Jeff is standing there saying look! Look right there on the wall. I am like what?? what?? I turn and look and there is a poster for Primary immune deficiency awareness. This is what Nick has.. it was like they "knew" :p

So of course, We had to get a picture of it with Nick. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Head out and see out greater! What an awesome sight!!

Made our way to the rental car and saw a few other wish families also getting their cars. Drove to GKTW and had a quick bite to eat.. some yummy sandwiches, chips, pickels and our first taste of ice cream heaven! Of course, I left my camera in the van.. I am an idiot, I know!

They were having an orientation at 3:30 and it was now around 2:30 so we had just enough time to be shown to our villa and get back for that.

The kids hitched a ride..

Okay, that is all I have uploaded from the first day for now. A cold front was just moving in so this is more skin then you will see for a long while. I am very sad to say that while everyone's outfits did get worn (minus the skirts) you may not see them all because they are hidden under coats and jackets. I will try to upload the right pics to make sure all the clothes get shown.

So excited for the first installment, i'll be checking back for the next.
Bummer it was so cold. But hey you were in Disney:)

Yeah!!! It started! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Great job! I totally understand the "forgot the camera" deal! That happened several times for us. :grouphug:

Your kids look bright eyed for that early in the morning.

I can't believe they had a PID billboard! Who would have thought?! :confused3

Awesome job! :) More, More, More!

What a great start! It's amazing how seeing others' pictures just takes me right back! Such happy memories!

Something about the picture of Nick in front of the PID poster brought tears to my eyes.

I can't wait to read more!

Carol

OMG, I cried looking at the pictures...lol....I think because we "know" you makes it that much more touching for me. Ok so did you cry when we saw the GKTW volunteer when you got off the plane?

Gosh, I can already tell what the rest of your 600 pictures will do to me....lo...I know I am sap...I can't wait to see the rest.

Off to a great start. I'm glad to see that someone is propmoting awareness of little known disorders like PID. The more awareness there is the better the chance of finding a cure. Reading about MAW kids like Nick is inspiration for me to work harder. (I'm working on my PhD in Chemistry) Thank you for sharing your story.
