Nick's Make-a-Wish Trip!! Day Two updated! 2/28/09!

So.. try as I might I could not convince Jeff to go to orientation. I kept telling him that I knew what was going to be said and that he should really go but I think he really wanted to go play with the kids. So off I went and he got to go play.. I was very thankful that they had one at 3:30 because I would not have been awake for a 7pm one :lmao: . There were about 5 people there as well, but again.. didn't learn too much that I didn't already know thanks to all you wonderful ladies!!

While I was gone they played in the arcade and played a round of putt putt golf. I told them no more ice cream until after dinner tho! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Here are some pics of them playing games and golf.

Next Nick went and made his star and the kids made their pillows. Those are so cool. Nick still has his on his bed and Kayla has been trying to convince Noah to switch with her since the moment they made them. He got Snoopy and she got puppies. Actually she wants Nick (batman) to give his to Noah and then she will give the puppy one to Nick so she can have the snoopy one. I am amazed that no one has given into her, she really isn't used to people telling her no. :rotfl2: As a matter of fact when I was putting some clothes away yesterday I noticed the GKTW Mickey on her bed.. hmmm wonder how that got there??? :scratchin

We had a very early night that first night.. you have to remember we had been up since 2am our time. We ate a yummy dinner there and had ice cream.. AGAIN! (considering we had lunch at like 2ish?? and then dinner at 6ish, I can't believe anyone was hungry, but they were) We rode the carousel a bunch of times. By the time we left the pig was Nicks favorite.. no clue why.

okay and this is the coolest thing since.. well, my name is Amy.. :goodvibes

100_1073.jpg

We went back to the villa (home) and seriously we were all asleep by probably 8pm.

Day 2 coming up.. Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney and a very cold night at Epcot.

OMG, I cried looking at the pictures...lol....I think because we "know" you makes it that much more touching for me. Ok so did you cry when we saw the GKTW volunteer when you got off the plane?

Yes, I cried when I saw the greeter! I cried when I said goodbye to him too. I cried a lot!

What a fun day! I love the kids by Amy's Way sign. I love it even more, because it is like it is your way or the highway!

The kids look like they had fun in the arcade too! Kayla sounds like one smart girl!

Oh I am so loving these pictures...:) I love the picture of the kids with the sign....lol...can't wait to see the rest!!!

This is a fabulous trip report!! Your pictures are great!! We are so close.... Just a few days and these pics are really getting me ready although I am not showing them to the kids!!

Wow.

Now you made me cry. Just looking at all of those places that we just were! I love the pictures! :)

I particularly enjoyed the one where DH was playing Pac Man! I did that!!! :) Like, forget the kids, I am playing some old school Pac Man! :rotfl2:

That is awesome that you had a 3:30 orientation. And that you were in bed so early. Great start to a wonderful vacation! And a great TR!! :)

Great start! (And congratulations on being further ahead than I am, and I am months behind you!)

Your story and pictures brought back wonderful memories and tears to my eyes, but all good, all good.

Looking forward to more!

Alison

WOW - totally awesome!!! I love the pillow thing! Does each kiddo get to make one?? How cool!

Whew.. sorry I haven't updated in... forever! We had a bad run of luck with illnesses, altho not as bad as some on the boards. We just picked up every single thing you can think of.. from bronchitis to the stomach flu to random fevers... to, get this.. I got fifths disease? hello, how old am I? I am wondering if Noah had it too now that it is all said and done, he had this rash on his face and neck the day we left Florida and we assumed it was a reaction to the sunscreen since he is allergic to that. But then I got something similar.. hmmmm? Having Fifth's as an adult is NO FUN. It is like have arthritis, I can't walk well and my knees are killing me, not to mention the rash just doesn't go away like it does in kids. It lingers forever.

Okay.. enough of my whining. Day two..

We got up, had a yummy breakfast, and some ice cream for the road.

It was really, really cold when we got to Animal Kingdom and Nick I don't think really understood yet what Disney is like. We are an amusement park family.. rollercoasters and so on. We got to AK and Nick was like.. ummm what is this?

First we did the Bugs Life 3D show and Nick loved that, Kayla not so much. lol.

100_1084.jpg

I had uploaded other pics of this but they didn't appear in photobucket and as slow as my computer is.. ugh.

next we rode Dinosaur, We really thought that Nick would not like this but he seemed love it. Of course, I spent the whole time worried about him and really didn't get to pay attention too much to the ride.

At this point, Nick was mad about something.. he wanted to go home and it would only be the first of many, many meltdowns for him.

We ended up leaving AK, it was so cold and the little kid area was shut down, atho they did play in the big maze, playground thing for awhile.

100_1095.jpg
Here is Nick running away from me trying to hide telling me it was HIS MAW and I was RUINING IT! :rotfl:

We did see.. rafiki (?) on the way out tho and got a quick pic.

100_1092.jpg

Next we went to Downtown Disney, we were meeting up with some friends for lunch and the boys HAD to go to the lego store. That was part of the problem in AK. They can't enjoy the moment when there in money in their pocket to spend.

I will admit that we did enjoy the lego store, even Kayla got into it. Altho we spent $150 :scared1:

We had lunch at Planet Hollywood and then went to Epcot.

Again.. it was FREEZING at this point.

100_1124.jpg

There are more pics on photopass which I have but they haven't been put on the computer yet.

The kids really, really enjoyed Epcot. I wish we had time to make it back to this park but it all the days that we were going to go back we just ran out of time.

We rode so many of the rides, the kids loved the test track and there is a cute pic on photopass I will have to put up sometime. We were the next car to go in and it broke down for like 15 mins.. so that was a little unnerving to go thru hoping that all was working like it should.

The kids also love turtle talk! The technology amazes me! Mission space was fun as well! What is the one that goes in the big ball? I can't remember now, but that was really fun too.

We ended the night by looking a little into the world showcase but it was just so cold that the kids couldn't stay out any longer, lot of tears. so we left before the fireworks. We did do the ride in Norway, it is okay.. not as fun as the kids were hoping it would be tho. The cm's tho were amazing.

100_1135.jpg
this is a pic of one of the activities in Mexico for kidcot, we were trying to buy time to see the fireworks at that point.

We made it back to GKTW and ordered Pizza, Nick was tired! The pizza wasn't bad.

Up next (hopefully sooner than later) Hollywood studios!

yeah!!! an update!

Awesome job! :)

I am sorry that you are sick. Fifths Disease! YUCK!! That really stinks! I hope you feel much better soon.

It sounds like you guys got a lot done. AK. DTD and Epcot! I bet you were so tired!

Sorry for the meltdowns. That is a total bummer, especially on a wish trip!

Can't wait to see more! I got a Test Track pic on Photopass, too! I can't wait to get that photopass back! :)

Sorry you'll have been sick! It is no fun being sick at all!

The pictures are really cute! We love the lego store at DTD too!

Looks like you all did so much that day! Being cold is not fun either! i have been surprised at how cold disney has been this past winter.

Your family is beautiful. I just started reading your report today and read it to the end. I understand where you are coming from with wanting recognition of your son's disease. My son's chromosome disorder is so rare that no one in the world has it. I have loved learning about your family and reading your report. I also understand the melt downs. We have quite a few of those. Thank you for sharing your trip and the pictures. I can't wait to read more! :wizard:

I love reading about your trip (even though it does make me sad, would love to be back there)! :woohoo:

This house in the background here was OUR house! :rotfl:

So funny! The pig was Lydia's favourite too and she kept yelling "the pig is doing it", although it was quite unclear what exactly the pig was doing... :rotfl2:

It was so cold several of the days we were there too and it certainly made it harder to enjoy it all. But I'm sure too hot is just as bad.

Too funny that he was telling you that you were runing HIS wish trip. :rotfl: Momma knows best!

I'm looking forward to reading more about your trip. :thumbsup2

The funny thing about the pig. The above pics were taken the first day we were there so Nick apparently hadn't discovered the pig yet. But by the time we left he sure had. There was a girl waiting on the bench and my kids were the only ones riding that turn and a lady said.. do you want to ride? The girl said.. no, I want the pig. LOL!! What is up with that pig? Apparently it talks to the kids or something.

You know, I think I might just have to DRIVE to Disney for every single trip...beccause otherwise I would have a hard time getting back to GKTW. And I think it just might have to be a permanent stop on my trips. I miss it, too...and I was just there on Tuesday. :yay:

Amy, the pictures are great...it did look cold there...wow, hard to believe that FL can get cold...lol...I can't wait to see more..:)

I am really enjoying your report- it does make me miss GKTW! What a magical place.

My boys were not too impressed with AK- it was a cranky morning there for us also. We too spent only 1/2 day at EPCOT and wished we had more time there ( we also left early for Christmas at GKTW).

I can't wait to read more!

the pig the chickens and the raindeers were the favorites with my kids too :thumbsup2
those pictures are so real now that we have seen them all up close
I miss my Villa already and it has only been 36 hours

Geesh.. I feel like such a slacker. Things have been so hectic here with illnesses and life. Nick has been pretty sick, just had a horrible illness that we don't even know what it was still. Now some of his labs apparently caused alarm and we had to run him back to the lab yesterday morning to draw a ton more blood work and he has to go back to the immuno next week for an emergency appt (even tho we just saw the guy on the 6th) so.. I am not really sure what is going on.

Anyways, I hope to have time to really sit down and work on this TR soon. Maybe when school gets out.. 28 more days! I am so bad, we seriously haven't even printed out our pictures, so sadly you all have seen more pics than even our family has.

Okay.. I did have a question. What did everyone do for a thank you for your wish granters? I was thinking of a nice framed picture? has anyone else done anything different?
