I'm having trouble getting anyone at Disneyland to answer this over the phone - will they embroider nicknames on mouse ears for you, or is it real names only? I know they won't put nicknames on the customized badges...

Thanks!

Everything I have read in the past 5+ years on different fan sites has indicated that they won't embroider nicknames on the ears.

I am not sure why they wouldn't let you use nicknames, as long as they weren't obscene or otherwise offensive. But, I also wouldn't have expected they wouldn't let you use nicknames on badges, either. What kind of nicknames are we talking about here?

(FWIW, my husband and I had Mr. Last Name and Mrs. Last Name embroidered on the Mickey ears we got on our honeymoon.)

my sons first name is way to long on regular ears we were told we could put any of his nick names on it. (we will next time this time we decied to use the 7dollers some where else after buying the 30doller hat

I know it's probably hard to tell but on my mouse ears I had "Ayden's Mommy" put on it..then my son had Ayden on his. I guess that's not really a nickname but I do think if they can't do nicknames they shouldn't do anything BUT names, meaning they shouldn't have done mine the way they did. :confused3
I can see there being a "at your discretion" issue, no profanity, etc etc...but does that mean if your name is Nicole they won't do Niki?

If your name is Nicole, it's pretty mean if they won't let you put Nicki or something similar. I've seen hats with stuff like Grampa Joe or just Grandma, but it can go south really easily too.

So yes, my name isn't common, and yes, my mom picked it by putting her finger down in a baby book, but is a name like Julina really hard to believe? There was a older CM that gave me a really hard time about it, and I wish I was exaggerating. I told him my name, he asked if it was a nick name. I told him no sir, it's not. He said, "Are you sure??" I got a little tiffed, but answered yes.

He then MADE ME SHOW HIM MY DRIVERS LICENSE. I wanted to :scared1:  :darth: RARW!

The next to Mad Hatter on Main St. will do embordering for $7 on almost anything. I haven't dealt with them before, but I imagine that if you're shelling some money out, they won't deny you a nickname.. You might want to mention it's for... your dog or something, just to be safe. :rotfl:

We didn't have to pay for embroidery on the hats we bought. When did they start charging a fee? (We were just there right before Thanksgiving.)

The fee based embroidery is the specialized machines. They have several fonts and thread colors to choose from. Most hat shops will do the basic for free.

I wanted black thread for my Halloween Mickey ears so I went to the special shop.

Now, I have a unique name, but I was PAYING extra. She didn't believe me when I told her my name is Silence (yes, this is my given name).

I had to show my drivers license in order to get it done. It was such a pain, the parade was getting to start and I had left it with hubby in another bag.

Wow, your given name is Silence? That is the coolest name I have heard in a long, long while.

Ah, that makes sense. I had no idea you could do fancier stuff for a fee.

Why thank you :)

Yep, my given name. My full name is native american : Silence Nan-ook-too-wa. (it means little princess)

I have yet to meet another and it certainly is a conversation starter!

Artimiss might fit, but still they tyold me we could use his nick name.. but it was micky sorcery hat we bought at a cart not a shop

I was told that you could buy a hat anywhere in the park and as long as you had the receipt you could take it into any of the stores that did the embroidery and have it done for free.

Oh boy. I'm going to be irate if they won't do my little boy's nickname when we go to DL. It's nothing offbeat or tawdry, but it is one that I have to spell any time I give his name. And (being that he's so little) he answers only to his nickname...he has no clue what his given name is. (His nickname is a derivative of his given name.)

Hopefully it will help that the children likely will be dressed in custom Disney clothes with their names (ahem, nicknames...) embroidered on them.

All I know is Mad Hatters....where is the special shop?

At least with little kids they can't ask for their drivers licenses, but it would be horrid of them if they asked for their birth certificates. I know it will never happen.......hopefully.

Has anyone ever heard a reason why they don't allow nicknames? I really don't get the big deal, especially with the Nicoles who go by Nikki and so on.

I would hope this wouldn't happen and Disney would be happy to embroider anything a guest wanted unless it was obscene or offensive.

Every time I go to a school or any place I bring the staff back something. I am going to Dinseyland and wanted to get ear's for the staff and was going to get 911 put on them. I hope that they can do this for me.
