Nicki & Todd are at it again, F&W style, snacking & drinking oh my! LIVE Tonight!!

Wow I'm craving Greek food right now! :rotfl:

Let me know how the Pumpkin Chai Tea is, I LOVE Chai! :yay:

Is dinner still on in France or is Todd not feelin it?

I love a nice TS for dinner! Perfect end to the perfect day!

Well---that about does it, I'm booked at Il Mulino for dinner after La Nouba for the first night of our Disney trip. We start the Deluxe DDP the next day, so it'll be the perfect opportunity to try a non-DDP restaurant.

I'm not huge on Italian food (blasphemous, I know) but it was the only thing that seemed to be missing for our dining itinerary, so I'm glad I added it, even if I do end up order pizza. :rotfl:

Can't wait---only 2(ish) months now!! :hyper:

Am I seeing it wrong, or is the Puerto Rico menu showing that nothing is eligible for the snack credit other than water?

Great pics, Nicki; thanks again for sharing.

As for the ice wine ... I have three words for you: Ice Wine Martini. :thumbsup2

And I cannot thank you enough for that picture of the NOLA booth and the travesty they are serving for a cocktail. The original F&W guide posted by WDW on their website said that NOLA would be serving Sazerac, a traditional cocktail that originated in the city back in the 1840s and which is made with absinthe. It's terrifc and really packs a punch if made correctly.

What in the name of all that is good and boozy is a Sazzarazz cocktail? Just typing it makes me want to hurl on my keyboard. :lmao: I can't wait to tell Jay that I just saved him more money because there is no way we're ordering purple kool-aid spiked with bourbon.

Brenda, thanks for pointing that out about the Sazerac! I still can't believe what the heck they're serving.

When it comes to booze I'm an eagle eye! :lmao:

It was actually Nicki's review first because she described it as something fruity and as I was reading I was thinking, "Nick must have had one too many because there sure as heck ain't no fruit in sazerac!" :lmao:

And then I saw her picture.

And then I felt much outrage.

And if I didn't have to get up early tomorrow for work I'd go make a real sazerac to mourn Epcot's failures.

:lmao:

Yum....that Greek food looks really, really good.

Oh it was! I cannot wait to get seconds tomorrow!

I was just showing Cait the food....and she's HUNGRY NOW!!!!! (and thinks the GM slush looks good, little does she know, she can't have it! well maybe not all of it, but a sip would be okay. It's 90% water after all. LOL!) Can't wait to see more!

They are carding people like crazy....I mean come on take one look at Todd and I and you know we are over 21...at least the bags under my eyes are....

mmmmmm yummy! I love GM slushies  DH loves the GG Sorry to hear Ireland was such a bust :sad2:

Yeah it was pretty bad ick!

Aw I am sorry that you weren't feeling good for awhile there. At least you were able to enjoy Il Mulino. It looked awesome! Cool to see more of the F&W stuff. Thanks so much!

I love Il Mulino! It was great!

I had to catch up on a couple days of posts and I'm totally drooling :rotfl:

Me too, I keep thinking of that yummy Il Mulino and the F&W and I drool!

That Greek food did look mighty darn tasty and I love those slushie suckers too!;) Thanks once again for providing some awesome porn!:thumbsup2

Thank you for reading it!

We are def going back to Greece tomorrow! The Pumpkin Chai was great and Chefs is off the radar for a while, I will explain in a bit

Glad you got it! I would go just for the pizza and cocktails!

Great pics, Nicki; thanks again for sharing.

Happy to help you out there! I was all set to order it until he told me that it was very sweet and made with bourbon...BLECH! I hope you and Jay have a wonderful time at the F&W and eat and drink some wonderful stuff!

When it comes to booze I'm an eagle eye! :lmao: It was actually Nicki's review first because she described it as something fruity and as I was reading I was thinking, "Nick must have had one too many because there sure as heck ain't no fruit in sazerac!" :lmao:

:rotfl: I have to tell you we are a bit disappointed in this years F&W selections...we went back to Epcot around 5 tonight and stayed until closing and the booths were completely empty, no lines at all....I have heard alot of people complaining about the wine pours, they feel they are getting ripped off because the size is super small for the price....I see alot of beer flowing though.

We arrived at Epcot to see a huge line in front of Chefs de France. To be honest with your I was really wanting to cancel this reservation and just go to Beaches and Cream but DH was the one that wanted to keep it, hows that for role reversal??

The host was turning away non reservation parties of 2 but the head Host (bald guy super cute wearing a nice suit) told her not to send anyone away, they had plenty of openings.

We were seated in 20 minutes, right at our ADR time. We sat way in the back where they prep the desserts and our server was Vincent, who I had back in June for my solo lunch...he was great the last time but forgot us this time. He told me Remy is at lunch and 5:30 dinner but that is it and he is off on Sundays. As we were led through the entire dining room we saw alot of empty tables.

Here is the menu

We decided to get the Fix Menu so DH could have the french onion soup, I could have the short ribs and we would share the profiteroles. DH ordered the escargot for me and he had the filet.

The escargot were very rich and the garlic butter they were in was great for bread dipping but after 3 snails I was throwing in the towel, they are very earthy like mushrooms but super chewy like gummy bears....DH had one and said BLECH! These were served warm but not hot.

Dinner007-1.jpg

The french onion soup was excellent but served lukewarm so you can tell they have all the appies sitting around waiting for pickup.

Dinner008-1.jpg

The bread was served pipping hot and crusty on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. THe butter was as hard as a rock, frozen solid....why do places do this??

Dinner009-1.jpg

My short ribs...well another word to use is super fatty pot roast, wait thats more than one word huh? THe pasta was overcooked and blah, the sauce was very watery, the pot roast was tender but very fatty and I had to play "find the meat" with my entree...so I was not happy at all.

Dinner011-1.jpg

Todd had the filet, ordered medium, served well done. Very dry, very tough, very bad. THe potatoes tasted heavy on the nutmeg and were not good. The string beans were ok, a bit wilted though.

Dinner012-1.jpg

We split the profiteroles and they were good. Great pastry, excellent ice cream and killer chocolate sauce...we loved it!

Dinner015.jpg

This will be our last dinner at Chefs, until the menu is changed big time...I would not hesitate to go to lunch at Chefs but not dinner, for $92 (TIW card) I felt ripped off.

Next up was the NY Wine Adventure and DH wanted to try the Ice Wine. It was super small, so sweet I could not stand one sip but he are going to buy a bottle to bring it home when we go back to Epcot tomorrow.

 We were at Casa Larga today! Didn't have any ice wine, it's not really my style.

After dinner we made it to the En Vogue concert...that was a blast! As we made our way to Italy for a Rosa Regale and some chocolate

Dinner017.jpg

We came to a decision....from now on we are going to try and do signature dinners and maybe a few TS breakfast and lunches here and there but we are just not that thrilled with the TS dinners lately. Aside from the Wave, Tutto, Tonys in MK, Beirgarten, Cape May Clambake, 50's Prime Time, Le Cellier...we are not thrilled with the service, food or prices.

I would much rather pay a bit more for Jiko, FF, BlueZoo, Cali Grill, Fulton's etc..

No way could we do one every single night but we really enjoy some CS places like WPE, Capt Cooks, CHH and such.

Our Spring Trip is going to be a tough one to plan!

Tomorrow morning we are supposed to go to Fresh and then over to Epcot for the rest of the day and hit the rides and more F&W for lunch before heading home so I probably wont update until late tomorrow night or Tuesday sometime.

Thanks for reading you guys! I really appreciate all your kind comments and funny ones too!

I LOVE polish food...I hope they have it next year too! I would LOVE to try it!

From there it was on to China..it was so hot out I had to get my Peach Snap...it was much stronger than it usually is so it tasted even better!

Food029-2.jpg

I was SO sad! We were at Epcot for an Extra Magic night on our most recent trip but this stand was closed! I was SO looking forward to trying this! I'll have to catch it next year!!!

Loving your report! Glad you're having fun! You're like the Dining Diva! :thumbsup2

Brenda, thanks for pointing that out about the Sazerac! I still can't believe what the heck they're serving.

:confused3 What was that? and WHY would you put Maker's Mark in it? :confused3

My DH and I got Rosa Regale when we were there on our honeymoon and took a pic of the bottle because we liked it so much .. the bottle was expensive at WDW, but it was only about $28 back in Boston. We buy it every few years on our anniversary (the ONLY non-white wine I like!)

I am soo glad you said you would go back to Cape May...Yes I am compulsivlely already planning out my ADR's for our Dec 2010 trip that we have not yet even booked!!!! I was on the fence about Cape may...

Nicki, I am so going to read all of your reviews first thing in the morning. I'd read them now, but all I want right now is a nice long shower, to get all that yucky Florida water out of my hair.

It was so great meeting you, and I am so glad I got the chance to. I did finally manage to get over to China and try the peach Schnapps drink yesterday, was so refreshing in the heat. And Jiko was wonderful, but after leaving you and Todd at the Boardwalk, I actually ended up eating dinner at Wolfgang Puck Express too. :rolleyes1 But I had counter service credits I had to use.

Loving your straight to the point, yet detailed enough reviews! Wish you had a better experience at Chefs. I want to try the Mac and Cheese there!

Am I seeing it wrong, or is the Puerto Rico menu showing that nothing is eligible for the snack credit other than water?

I noticed that discrepancy on the Puerto Rico menu posted here, and I was assured by a friend who attended the first weekend that the menu boards at Puerto Rico have been changed/fixed.

And the ONLY item that she couldn't use a snack credit for was the Tuna Sensation at Japan.

Ok, on to Nicki's review of Chefs de France:

Wow. I'd be really disappointed if I had the dinner you had. I felt I had a mediocre meal at the French Regional Lunch last year at Bistro de Paris, but I'm given them a chance for dinner in a couple weeks.

At least they didn't muck up the most important part. Dessert! ;)

Glad I found this! It's so nice to have someone do all this hard work for us so we can make better decisions at Disney World.

MickeyNicki, you have seem to have confirmed that items that are geared towards the dining plan are pre-cooked and not presented very well. The main course at most high dollar restaraunts would have been sent back by the waiter before it reached the table. The manager would have probably apologized if something like that actually reached the table. For $40 a plate you deserved much better.

When you move away from those items it looks as if they are much better prepared and probably not started until you order it.

I hope you have a great last day and have a safe trip home. :goodvibes

Hi, Nicki!!! I haven't had a chance to catch up yet (we just got back last night, but I will definitely be doing that today)! I have to comment on Brenda's post though...

Great pics, Nicki; thanks again for sharing.

One of the things I wanted the most while perusing the menus was the Sazerac so even though it was a goofy name, I tried the Sazzarazz -- it was the VILEST thing I have ever had in my life -- I took two sips -- Charles wouldn't even try it -- and I ended up throwing it away. Nasty, nasty!
