Hello everyone,

Just got back today from a three night stay at the Nick Hotel. Here's my trip report.

We (me, mom, three kids ages 8, 4 and 3) arrived around 11am. The hotel was NOT crowded this week. We checked in right away and we got upgraded to a SpongeBob room for free. I don't know if that was because the hotel was not busy or we were members of the Priority Club.

We were in building 5, on the first floor, facing the parking lot. It was not noisy at all. We were close to the Oasis pool (the smaller one). We hung out there for awhile until we realized there was an even BIGGER pool! We went over to the Lagoon pool (less than a 5 minute walk). That pool was awesome. I even had a lot of fun in it. If I go there again, I would want to stay near the Lagoon pool. They have plenty of life jackets at no charge for the kids that want them. There are fun games at the pools several times a day.

There is a food court- Pizza Hut, A&W, Salad and Sandwiches and a coffee house. The food at the court was fine. There is also a "convenience-like" store there. You can get Lunchables, crackers, chips, donuts, fresh fruit, etc. Also can get sunglasses, diapers, lotion, etc. there.

The food at the restaurant was actually good. I heard on the boards how horrible the food was so I was a little concerned. It's not gourmet, but definitely good. We ate there several times.

We did eat the Character breakfast. I do NOT recommend it. The cost for the 5 of us (no charge for the little one) with tip was $65. The same food was served in the non-character section and that would have only cost us $25. What did we get for $40? NOTHING. Yes, the characters came around but all the characters are not there at the same time. When we arrived, it was the Rugrats. Then they left and Dora came out. There is not much interaction with them. AND, you can meet them for free right outside the restaurant! The characters wonder the "Mall" from 1-3pm every day and in the lobby from 1-5pm every day.

The shows at night were great- my son got slimed! :rotfl2: If you want to be in the show, seach out the staff with the clipboard at 3pm by the Lagoon pool. If you don't get signed up there, they do ask for additional kids to come on stage during the show, too.

In the mall, there was face painting, balloon art, "spa"--all for a price. The kids loved it.

The staff was wonderful. Everyone of them couldn't do enough.

I definitely recommend a stay at the Nick Hotel. I would definitely do it again. The kids are bugging me to go again already.

Any questions???? Ask away. :teeth:

ADDITIONAL INFO......
The photographers are all over, but a lot of them are young (ie:still in high school). They take great pictures, but sometimes you have to tell them to take the picture. (We were at breakfast metting SpongeBob and the guy was just standing there. I had to go up to him and ask him to take a picture of my kids). Also, you can get a CD of every single picture that they take for $50 and then you can just bring it to the local photo place and get them developed. Great deal. One sheet is $25 so for the cost of just pictures, you can have every single one they took. I think our CD has at least 50 pictures.

The place is very clean. I saw so many housekeeping people on the grounds. One woman was washing the walls. Another guy was doing some touch up paint- it was such a minor "scratch" but he was out there painting it. We did have two bugs in our room (hey, it's Florida!) but they were there right away to clean it up and spray.

Great report LoveMyLAP-BAND thanks for sharing. Glad you got an upgrade.

Is it true that the charge is about $200.00 per night? Did you stay at the hotel & enjoy all the doings, or did you do the parks?

Thanks again for sharing.

Patricia

Hi,
I'm so gald you had a good time. You seemed to enjoy the Hotel as much as we did.
we had a Super Bowel party yesterday (were from Seattle) All the kids could talk about is when we are going back.
I had planned on going back and doing a big family trip in 2008.....I was out voted and now we will shoot for 2007.
Nick is of the must of our trip....

I'm so glad you posted this. We are going in less then 2 weeks and I was so nervous. We are just going 2 nights and I'm paying 250 a night for a 2 bedroom suite. i have never paid 250 a night even for a 5 bdrm house down there.. I am so cheap it is killing me. BUT the big But my kids deserve it and they asked. My 4 yr old had a liver transplant as an infant and gets poked and prodded all the time, as well as crappy hospital stays. And my 12 and 9 yr old always get pushed to the side due to the 4 yr olds medical problems. i figured this would be great for them since we all love all stuff Nick.
But I was getting a little nervous from other posts.

The reservations lady told me the same thing about the br. She said don't waste your money becasue the characters are all over the place anyway.

Thanks for the good report. I am getting excited!! :cool1:

Thanks for the info. We are also heading there towards the end of the month. Did your suite have a Nintendo64, PS2 or other gaming system?
We were only planning on staying there for 4 nights on Priority Club points, but just picked up a 5th night (Sunday) for $105= $117.08 with taxes. Got this rate on their website. FYI, Fri and Sat were over double that amt.

Thanks for the report--although we have cancelled our ressies, I am still considering going back in October and staying when the rates are cheaper! I hated to pay $200 a night (April 2-7)--WITH discounts!- for a room--we got a 3 bedroom condo for $89 a night. In October, the rates are only $125--that seems much more doable to me. After reading your report, I think October is doable. Thanks!

Purtypat1- I payed $125 for Thurs and $175 for Fri and Sat. MImom is right that weekend are soooo much more expensive. During the games, the counselors ask the kids where they are from and a lot said Florida. We did the things at the hotel. We just off a Disney Cruise so we were really tired. And I really wanted for the kids to do the things at the Nick Hotel since that is why we were there.

don8life- first, sorry to hear about your 4 year old. I know that can be a strain on everyone in the family. I am glad to hear that she was able to get a transplant and I hope all is well her. Second, the kids will have a blast. Try to get them in the shows if they want. Also, at night from 10pm to midnight, they have karaoke. The kids can sing their favorite Nick tunes as well as a bunch of other songs. The 5 of you can eat breakfast for $20 (plus tax and tip). Dinner would be $36 (plus tax and tip) for the buffet- which has a lot of food. Kids 12 and under eat free. ENJOY!

MImom- great deal. My son said the room had a PlayStation2. You can rent games at the hotel, too. Not sure of the price though.

3kidsmommy- I hope you go. The kids will have a fun time. I would go when it's cheaper, too. Not only do you save money, but I bet it would be less crowded.

Appreciate the info. Will tell DS about the PS2. Don't plan on using it much, but if it rains or other bad weather........one never knows ;)

Where is the karaoke? By the pool or a different location?

Great deal on the rate was just a fluke. Had been higher previously. My advice is to check the site often as I have found rates for the same dates to vary week to week.

Thanks for the info! We are going there in Nov. after a 4 night Disney Cruise. Do you think 3 nights is enough, if we will be going to Universal 2 days and Animal Kingdom for 1 day. I am wondering if it would be too rushed and wouldn't have time for activities in hotel. I was actually considering switching to 3 night cruise, so I would have 4 nights there.

To get everything done at the hotel, you would need at least a full day. It is really a destination in itself. :thumbsup2

michboro, JMHO but I would keep the 4 day cruise. Although we really enjoy the Nick, we LOVE the cruise. I agree the Nick can be a destination in and of itself. Whatever you decide, hope you have a great time.

Just an FYI - we are going for 8 nights at the beginning of March. When we booked originally, total cost was $1496 (avg nightly rate of $187) plus tax. I checked this week (three weeks after booking) and rates dropped to $1312 ($164 / night). Then just yesterday I checked and they dropped AGAIN to $1094 ($137/night). $400 savings is worth getting on their website and checking each day! Remember - 7+ nights gives you 25% discount (4-6 nights is 20%), so if you have the vacation time but were only planning on staying 6 nights, that extra night practically pays for itself!

I am so glad to hear a positive report, we are planning a trip there in June!! Can't wait to go back!

Cruz91 where did you see those rates? We are wanting to go the first of March but the only rates I am finding get higher and higher every week. I am trying to hold out for a late deal. We are looking for like 7 nights and even with the best flex or advanced purchase it is still so high. We are also looking at the kidsuite. Please let me know. Thanks

I was wondering about what shows they had. Do you remember the show schedule?
Thanks.

Hi Michboro,

Sorry for the delay in response. The shows were 6:15 and 7:30 (and 5:00 on the weekends) for the Nick Live show. There are two teams (3-4 people per team) in that show. You can sign up to be a team at 3pm at the pool- look for the employee with a clipboard. At that show, they also ask for people from the audience. It's a show like the Slime Time show on Nickelodeon. At the end, the losing team captain can either pie him/herself in the face or pie a team member. The winning team captain gets slimed. My son got slimed and loved it!

Then there is another show at 8:30 and 9:30 (or around that time). There are three teams made up of a parent and a child. The game is similar to the Newlywed Game. Kids go off stage and parents are asked questions about their kids. Then the kids are brought back to see if the answers match. The winner (which was us!!) got a Nick Hotel lunch box filled with goodies. You can sign up for that show at the same time as the other.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Enjoy! When are you going?

I was looking into this for a weekend trip in May. Do you think my DS will like it. They are 13 and10. I am afraid that they are(well they might feel like they are) too old. The love nick, but still I didn't know what age the hotel was geared to.

thanks
Deanna :bored: :cat:

Yeah- I think so. My cousin (age 13) joined us at the hotel for two days. Several times I asked her how she liked the Nick Hotel and she always responded "This is heaven on earth!".

She got to be in the shows with us and for one at the pool. She loved the water slides- they are geared toward "older" kids. (My 3 and 4 year olds were too small for it). They also have karaoke at 10pm where they can sing any song- including songs like SpongeBob and Fairly OddParents.

I saw lots of kids in their teens there. Stay away from the character breakfast though.....see my above post. I think your kids would feel foolish there anyway (the breakfast, not the hotel).

In a nutshell- I think they would have a blast. Go for it!
