I realize that I am in the minority here. I really like Nicholas Cage. I always enjoy his movies. To me, he's like a modern day Jimmy Stewart. He's the slow talking, gangly leading man.

Unfortunately, Nick is in big trouble. I'm not talking about his recent arrest for being drunk and disorderly. I'm talking about taxes. It seems that he owes an incredible amount of back taxes. He has a lawsuit against his business manager, but I don't know that it will make amends with the IRS.

He may find himself rooming with Wesley Snipes in the big house. I can just see them collaborating on a new film..."Blade vs. Ghost Rider"!

Why is it that all these rich Hollywood types have these tax issues? I just dont get it. How can you be that detached from your finances?

Love him! And some of his movies are my favorites: Peggy Sue Got Married, Moonstruck, Family Man. I'm sorry he is having all this trouble.

They hire people to take care of that and stop paying attention to what's happening.
It's not an excuse but I can see it happening. Your're literally make millions per film and you think you have enough money to do whatever you want. It happens to a lot of them. Remind me to have a monthly meeting with my financial manager when I get rich, ok?

Steven Speilberg lost money in the Madoff thing. Not sure about Nick.

Not sure about Nic, but Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick got hurt big time. As for Nic, I have always loved his work since Valley Girl . . . that's how far I go back.

I love Nic Cage. He has a another Ghost Rider and National Treasure in the works, hopefully, these will pay off his back taxes.

I like him too! I met him 6-7 years ago on the Intrepid when he was filming National Treasure. It was a 5th grade class trip and he was such a nice guy. He gave the kids and their goo goo eyed moms time and attention when he didnt have to.

I love him too, as a matter of fact, I just shared Gone in 60 Seconds with my dd this weekend. I really hope he can get things together. It seems his career choices lately, have not been so great.

I'm guessing his career choices and his tax issues are related. I would also agree to work vs. not work if I were in his shoes.

He's not alone, though. A lot of people have the same issue. I re-read Garry Marshall's autobiography once and again, and the same thing happened to him. He worked very hard to become a respected TV writer and producer, and did the same in Features. At one point, he figured that using a respected accountant was the way people in his shoes worked (and they do). He also got burned and wrote about what a great lesson he learned. He now admittedly keeps an eye on his money better than he did when he first earned it.

I don't think in either case it was a matter of not paying taxes; it was a poor choice in accountants.

While I LOVE some of his movies, I think he's a nutter. He won't live( or at one time wouldn't) in the same house as his wife.

Cage had a house in the French Quarter but has lost it because of taxes owed the IRS. It was the most haunted house in New Orleans and was once owned by Dr. and Madame Lalaurie. They did transplant surgeries on their slaves attaching female parts to men and men parts to females. They would also cut off limbs from one slave and try to attach them to other slaves. Of course they died. There was a horrible fire and the firemen saw the slaves chained in the attic. They released those they could. When the people watching the fireman saw those poor people, they tried to chase the Lalauries. However, once the Lalauries saw the anger when the first fireman came down, they ran off. They escaped in a boat on Bayou St. John and ended up in France.
