Nicest Hotel You Ever Stayed At

Wow, I stayed at Coco Palms in 1972, glad it is still there.
Sadly, it isn't. Hurricane Iniki 1992 destroyed it. It remained a very sad sight until recently. It's being rebuilt under new ownership https://www.travelweekly.com/Travel-News/Hotel-News/Redeveloped-Coco-Palms-a-Kimpton-resort ...a far cry from it's original intent. In between it was occupied by some of the people native to the area who still consider parts of it sacred ground. There is a FB group filled with info & memories from the decades.

I've always believed Coco Palms was Walt's/Imagineers inspiration for the Poly...🌺

Hotel The Mitsui in Kyoto. We stayed 2 years ago and it blew our minds.
Recently the Michellin Guide gave it their highest rating of 3 keys. Well deserves.
We knew it was gonna be special when the butler cleaned out shows and placed them on our shoe rack during our in room check in. Especially since we had booked the lowest level of room.
The restaurant has also since won a Michellin star.

Masco Cottage at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.

Service and accomodations were amazing. Especially loved the cocktails and hors d’oeuvres that were provided fresh each day in the Cottage before dinner.

Although...the horse facility on the opposite side of the hedge of the private yard did prove to provide a unique odor. 😆

Still a wonderful place to stay, and would jump at the opportunity again.

Best lobby… Bellagio
Best room… Venetian
Best service… Hyatt Regency Orlando (formally the Peabody)

[ETA] I have fond memories of staying at the Hyatt after a busy day at the parks, snuggled up in a towelling robe, on a huge bed, watching cartoons and munching my way through a room service pizza with cokes and chocolate ice cream!

Several in the top for various reasons. Including location , amenities, nearby attractions/options.
Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach California.
Hotel Del Coronado ( now a Hilton property)
The late Mirage in Las Vegas
Just got back from the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake in Maryland . It is up on the list now.

Shanghai Disneyland hotel. The service there is amazing! We got a room with the park view and was able to watch the fireworks from the room at night.

Mauna Kea in Hawaii was the poshest we ever stayed.

The View in Monument Valley, Utah had the best view.

The Grand Wailea as other have mentioned was really nice.

To add (and probably forgetting some really nice places):
  • Mandarin Oriental in Geneva was beautiful with amazing service (and a really excellent breakfast)
  • Love the Conrad St. James in London
  • Hayman Island (though I see that this is now a Marriott property - not sure how much that might have changed things, I was there something like 30 years ago)
  • Enashipai on Lake Naivasha - only place I've been for work where I could feed hippos at lunch

Kindred spirit. I was gonna post about two of your picks: Conrad St. James in London and Grand Wailea. It stinks, though, that Grand Wailea started selling memberships to use the facilities, so now the pools and all are a zoo. Not at all like it used to be, Oh well. Things change.

Monwana Game Lodge - one-in-a-lifetime trip. Incredible service and environment, saw elephants from the deck.

Favorite regular type of hotel is the Savoy in London.
