My aunt and uncle want to trade their time share for a week at Disney. They're going spring break 07 (*I* know - they should have thought of this sooner!). My only experiance with the time shares in the area are an awful and disgusting stay at Clarion near Old Town 4 years ago and a 'we'll give you free tickets to Medieval Times if you take our 90 min (4+hour) tour) at Orange Lake (grove?). We tend to stay onsite, we find it easier for our family.

They'll need at least a 1 bedroom, it will be aunt, uncle, cousin & his 2 kids. It has to be clean with a nice staff, must have interesting pool (doesn't have to be extravegant, but they'll b*tch if it's a plain pool) and be within 5-10 min drive (inc traffic issues) of one of the gates. So I'm asking for suggestions on your top picks to reccomend they look into. Hopefully one of them will have availability.

TIA.

DVC trades II and so does Sheraton Vistana. Sheraton has two; Villages and Vistana Resort. I think it the Villages that is the furthest down I-Drive, which is only a 10 minute drive with traffic.

We own a TS in Williamsburg and trade through RCI. We have been to WDW dozens of times and prefer to stay onsite, but we have stayed in several TSs in the area. I can tell you that their chances fo getting ANYTHING in or near Orlando at this time for Spring Break will be almost impossible. I would have them go to the II site and see if anything at all is available and THEN come back here and ask if anyone has stayed in any of them. The nicest one we stayed in was Hilton Grand Vacation club near SW, but they seem to always be full when I check. I don't think we have ever stayed in any TS that had a slide or anything at the pool, those must be rare. I am just happy when the place is clean! Good luck, I know on the RCI website you can check online for availability in any area for any timeframe, it is very quick and easy to check, and they also have reviews and detailed information.

I like the Marriott properties, too. Horizons is great pool area for smaller kids (like under 11 or 12).
I agree with the idea of seeing if there is ANYTHING available. Before my parents moved, we went through this process in September to plan for spring break. We looked at Marriott and II properties. At that point, a number of options were already closed out.

Cypress Point II is in the right location, and it has a Volcuna pool ... The 2 bed room units are good sized. The 3 bed room ones would be better. The staff has been nice the last 4 or 5 trips. We stay there at least 2 times each year. The TS is owned by Sunterra Corp. If you go in to the Intervial Internation site you can trade in to there. They did have a lot of units last week for Easter break. I was looking at that time also... .
Best of luck. The units are also close to Chilies, McDonalds, a Uno, and lots of other food places, and there is a grocery store one more street over.

Depending on when their spring break is the Marriott has some availability. Looks like they have 5, so they probably need a 2 BR as most resorts cap a 1BR at 4 occupants. Just checked the II site and not much there.

but I agree with everyone - the Marriott are some of the best!

Cypress Pointe and Sheraton are both available on II and RCI. II only take certain building in the Sheraton Vistana - so you probably won't get one with the complaints.

the DVC resorts are through II and can sometimes be available last minute. Lots of the DVC reservations are last minute.

but the likihood of finding a 2-bedroom thru II for a DVC unit are just about none.

Marriott Cypress Harbour is a very nice resort and one you will definitely enjoy.

Mystic Dunes is nice and only about 10 minutes from WDW. Sheraton Vistana trades with II.

Lots of good choices, but as another poster mentioned, at this point it's going to be a matter of taking what you can get. I've been dilly dallying about our March trip and very few two bedroom units are showing up. Quite a few 1 brs though.

They really want to stay onsite but can't afford the cost at this short notice. For some reason they thought that it would be under $1500 for the 5 of them for a week including travel. When the quotes came back double that they kind of paniced. trading the timeshare is plan B, but they just won't listen to anything I say, I've only been 8 times in the last 10 years so obviously I have *no* clue what I'm talking about. I'm trying to get them to move the trip to fall, but my aunt won't because she already told the kids they were going for spring break. I'll pass on your comments though.

disney advertises the $1,500 price - now I think it is $1,600 price - but it is for a family of 4 in the off season. (which is in tiny print)

that extra child and also traveling at one of the most expensive times is there big problem.

And that price they advertise is at a Value Resort.

Ok - an update- they decided to look into it over the holidays and much to their surprise (not mine) there was NOTHING they could trade into the week they wanted for Spring Break. So they looked at the week the kids get out of school which is Memorial Week. There were very few things.

They ended up trading into a Fantasy World Club Villas in Kissimmee. I found the website Does anyone have any reviews of it?

very strange I can't find anything on tug in the reviews? there is a vacation villa on fantasy world but it has a different address?

did a post on tug - so hopefully someone will reply.

they must have a bad trader

on the getaway they have Cypress Pointe and Fairfield Star

Bad Trader? You mean where their 'home' resort is? It's in New Orleans Garden District. Nice place, I've stayed there, (not outstanding, not slum, just nice) and according to the memos they recieved had very little damage in Katrina. I don't remember the name though.

What's TUG?

At this point I'm just hoping they have a decent vacation so that I don't have to listen to them complain forever about how they don't see why we keep going back blah blah blah. So really as long as the place is clean and the staff nice, all should be well. The traffic to/from Disney will kill them though, they're from a small town where 'rush hour' is bad when it's 15 minutes from one end of town to the other and you can't eat in a restaurant without recognizing at least 2 other people.

if you have a timeshare then you should join tug.

www.tug2.net

although it is not necessary to join to post on their BBS board - but to read the reviews you need to be a member.

yes that is a very nice timeshare. did they not want the Cypress Pointe one?

I don't have a timeshare. It's my aunt and uncle.

I don't know what came up for them when they looked - they're out of state. They've just been calling me since I'm the 'family expert'. They're getting there May 26 and staying over Memorial Weekend to June 2 so since it's Memorial weekend it's possible not a whole heck of a lot popped up. Thanks for your thoughts.
