Nice find for those of you into WDW history..

That's awesome video! I must say though that I'm glad Sonny Eclipse took over at Cosmic Ray's, haha.

Always amazes me how people used to dress when visiting WDW.

The Character Costumes sure have come a long way!

Thanks for sharing this one O'Mike! We all had fun watching it! ::yes::

It's so odd to see the MK and the resorts with all of those new growth trees. I am so used to seeing the big old trees that it's just a bit shocking to see such little trees and practically no shade. The advertising by the sponsers certainly stuck out too. Pepsi on the Country Bears sign.....oh, it just looks soooo wrong. Oh and Adventureland with no Splash or BTMRR, wow, really odd. The character costumes, thank God, have come a really long way. Oh and while we are thanking God, how about thanking the imagineer who came up with the Sonny Eclipse concept? :rotfl:

Thanks Mike for sharing this. It certainly shows how far we have come and how far we have let things go all at the same time.

Thanks for sharing! Not that i needed something to distract me from work!:goodvibes

Dumbo as a walkabout character?!

Crystal Palace without Pooh and Friends?!

Hall of Presidents without George Bush?! :rotfl:

The MK looks so...empty...it's eerie!

I think what's getting me here is that Dumbo costume...it's kinda creepy.

You find the BEST stuff Mike!!! Thank you for sharing!

Thanks Mike !

It was interesting to see all the main street performers that existed in the 70's.

I guess no one ski's anymore on Bay Lake?

I too was surprised at seeing a walking Dumbo Costume of the 70s.

The ice cream scene was making me want some, but make mine a waffle cone please.

It would be fun to go back in time and get a book of Tickets, I wonder what ticket the Sky Ride took to ride? What rides were E-Tickets?. I could do the entire park commando style, and repeat some rides in one Day. And I don't remember going to any restaurant that took reservations, it was all like counter service, or maybe I was just young, poorer, and thinner then? Deluxe accommodations for me were Fort Wilderness in a Tent. And transportation to Disney was a 24 hour almost non stop drive down I95, reading all the South of the Border Signs on the way, and stopping for Stuckey's Pecan Logs, driving in a Pinto Hatchback that got an amazing 17 MPG probably along the way.

Maybe now a days is good too, thank goodness for DVC, Splash Mountain, 3 New Parks, MCO airport, and Magical Express.

The old and the new, both a lot of fun !

My boyfriend thinks I know everything about Disney, he has no idea how many more Dizneedites are out there, and smarter about Disney than me.

When did Space Mountain open ?

Space Mountain (Magic Kingdom) (1975), at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida

Space Mountain (Disneyland) (1977), at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California

Space Mountain (Tokyo Disneyland) (1983), at Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan

Space Mountain: Mission 2 (1995), at Disneyland Paris in Marne-la-Vallée, France

Space Mountain (Hong Kong Disneyland) (2005), at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort in Hong Kong, China

I'll need to watch this when I get home from work today :)

Thanks Mike.

I remember Space Mountain at WDW being opened the first year I ever got to see any Disney park. It was around 1975 or later.

I had a chance to see Disneyland years earlier, but we were on a family visit and I almost cried every time we drove by Anaheim on the highway.

When did everyone get to have your first visit to a Disney Park?

My first visit was in 1983, I was 3 years old.

Seeing that video reminded me of eating at St Stephan's Banquet Hall. I got to eat there twice, in 1997 & 2002, before it switched to being Cinderella's Royal Table. I personally wish it hadn't changed to being a character meal, I loved that restaurant.

You were there before opening day? :)

You mean it wasn't open yet?

Nawwww! My parents would have never thrown me in the car, for a three day trip on minor highways with no A/C.....(The freeway wasn't built yet) with a promise of a trip to Disney well before they even opened?

Could they?

Nawww....nobody is that cruel! :rotfl2:

Yes its true, and I have the scar tissue to prove it! I think thats where I learned to swear, when we pulled up and all that was there was the Prieview Center! Boy was I pissed!

Mom said "But we saw it on TV and it was open!"

"You mean you saw DisneyLAND?"

"Well maybe...." :sad2:

BTW the building is still there, its the AAU building on Hotel Plaza Drive....
