Nice, but not like the first time

We just returned from our 7-night stay at the Dolphin. We had a very positive experience, but "the magic" just wasn't quite the same as our debut trip just a year ago. I found myself missing the thrill of seeing my kids see all the Disney magic for the first time. This time they weren't scrambling with wild excitement to get character autographs; the walk down MK Main Street was still impressive, but again not the same awe as a year ago.

Having said that, we still enjoyed our Disney experience very much. In fact, my 10-year-old daughter has a full-blown case of PDS (Post Disney Syndrome). She shed quite a few tears our first day back home. She wants to save money to go back--even offering to pay for everything if I just call to make the reservations, because she can't do that. Talk about breaking her dad's heart!

We expect it will be four years before we visit Disney again. Hopefully my 10-year-old can bear the wait.

Also, two thumbs up to the Dolphin. Yes, the carpeting needs updating and the color scheme is out of whack, but everyone treated us very well and most of all--it WAS NICE AND QUIET!

I also enjoyed dealing with a manager (or GM?) at Dolphin who cleared up my Starwood points controversy with ease. (AT&T had promised 2,000 points for enrolling in online billing, but never delivered. Those points would have given me club privileges for my entire stay.) I explained the dead ends I had reached in dealing with both AT&T and Starwood, and he calmly responded by awarding me club level status--no more questions asked! Finally, someone in management who understands how to play the customer relations game.

Also, it appeared to me that crowds are down from a year ago at this time. With the exception to our MK visit on Sunday, we found crowds and waits quite manageable at all of the parks. I remember it being much more crowded a year ago.

Anyway, I'm still a big Disney fan. But for the next four years, I'll just have to live vicariously through all of your visits to the World.

21 days.....I know that knowing what we did on our first trip is different that seeing and knowing it on our second thru twelveth trip....some how I know where the ladies rooms are and all the fast foods and which side tinker bell comes down.....thanks so much for your report.....tell you ten year old that my ten year old grandson was delighted with the Dolphin pool too......
