Nice AP discounts for the 45th anniversary!

Ok so AP here... was on the fence about renewing because this year I have to add my 3 year old so that adds another $400+ to the total. But then I see the new benefits and I'm 99% sure I will renew. The only question is, are we going to see price hikes tomorrow? It seems too good to be true and I'm so skeptical of Disney. Has anyone heard any rumors of price increases for pass holders?

The only difference is the 13 months, if you renew your AP between now and the deadline you get the extra month, otherwise you still get the other discounts.

I too would love to know if the 13 month applies for renewal that isn't activated till spring, since my current AP expires the end of May.....
Renewals cannot be done more than 60 days prior to your anniversary date. For you, that would be somewhere around the end of March. That's after the "purchase by" date for this offer.

I'm wondering if Disney might be willing to give the extra month to those who renewed their APs prior to Oct. 1, 2016 (assuming that this offer applies to renewals as well as new APs). Just to use my own situation as an example - My AP was due to expire on Sept. 25 of this year. According to Disney's website, I could have waited up to 30 days after the AP expired to decide to renew (with the expiration date backdated to Sept. 25, 2017). That would have brought me well into October if I had not decided to renew while I was in Disney in early September. Had I waited, and this offer applies to renewals, I could have had an extra month on my pass.

Or, if I wanted to "upgrade" my AP from DVC Gold to DVC Platinum when I visit in December, would I get the additional month added to my expiration date at that time?

Hmmm. So much to speculate about.

I know a year or so back when they added Photopass/MemoryMaker to the AP (and raised prices a bit) I was able to pay the difference to upgrade my AP to the new rate in order to get the Photopass option added.

Thanks to everyone for this helpful discussion. We are DVC members and have had APs for a couple of years in the past. We'll be at WDW next week. We are all set for tickets for this trip, but will be returning in early March 2017. From what I am reading it appears that we may be able to purchase APs but not activate them until March. Is this correct? If so we will go ahead and purchase them.
Concerning the dining discount...would that just apply to the AP holders or everyone in their party assuming that the AP holder will be paying for the meal. I am also assuming that unlike TiW, adult beverages will not be included in the 20% AP discount. If that is the case we will probably go ahead and get the TiW again, especially since the discount will end on Sept. 30, 2017 and our APs will presumably be active until April 2018 if we do not activate until March 2017. Am I thinking correctly?

AP prices were unceremoniously raised on October 4th of last year. It was a Sunday.

It would not surprise me if the same happens tomorrow. Nothing Disney does anymore surprises me.

Exactly, that's why I'm afraid they will raise prices tomorrow. That would be really crummy PR though, right? "Here's some awesome new benefits starting tomorrow! Oh, now you have to pay more too!" Would make more sense to announce the new benefits at the same time as a price increase. But this is Disney so all bets are off.

Thanks! I have a Platinum plus pass. I currently have a reservation at Rose & Crown on New Year's Eve. So I'm assuming I'll get the 20% off discount?
That's a good question. TiW is blocked through the 2nd, but if your pass isn't blocked-- which Platinum never is-- then I wouldn't think they would block your benefits. It will be interesting to see.

Q: From what I am reading it appears that we may be able to purchase APs but not activate them until March. Is this correct?
A: Nobody knows. It's too early to say.
Q: Concerning the dining discount...would that just apply to the AP holders or everyone in their party assuming that the AP holder will be paying for the meal.
A: When it comes to other AP dining discounts, the only thing that matters is that the AP holder actually pays the bill.
Q: I am also assuming that unlike TiW, adult beverages will not be included in the 20% AP discount.
A: It's unclear. Looking at the description here, there is no specific exclusion of alcoholic beverages for the 20% discount BUT if you notice, the usual 10% Passholder discount is "off the regular price of food and nonalcoholic beverages (excluding applicable tax and gratuity)". The wording is different for the two discounts.

ETA: But when I looked at my email, it says this, which definitely excluded alcoholic beverages from the discount.

Argh - this cancels my renewal out then, too. I was on the fence about mine, with a renewal date of April 5, 2017. The extra month made me think I would since that would give me this Spring Break and the one in 2018 for sure, and as long distance AP holders, that makes a huge difference since we're not always guaranteed many extra trips during the year. And the 20% off select restaurants was nice, too, even though they don't cover all of the TIW. The way I see it, the TIW covers most of my TS, and this AP deal covers a good amount of the QS we've never had a discount for before.

But if I can't renew until February 5, we're out. :/

You just scared me so I pulled the trigger and bought them. When DH sees that $3200 charge on the credit card I will blame you:rotfl:

Do any of you know how much the rate increases have run, percentage-wise, over the past few years?

They aren't going to raise prices. In effect, this was a way for them to lower prices with the one month extra.

My bet is they are worried about crowd levels which are not rising at the rate they were hoping.

Just got off of the phone with a CM. And I have never been more dissatisfied with a call to Disney. :/

While he confirmed the promotion and was well aware of it, he told me that my only option was to talk to Guest Services in the parks. I shared with him that I would not be back to Disney until next April, and said there surely must be someone I can talk to, and he advised I send an email to guest.services@disneyworld.com, after which he laughed and said it would probably be some time before I heard back.

Guess that seals it - no AP for me. And his attitude pretty much slammed the door on that one.

That's goofy, that's the only type of restaurant H&V is. I was racking my brain trying to think of what it could mean. I wonder why that's the only one that says that? Typo?

All of them had their codes and I erased them so it wouldn't confuse people but this one slipped

so is it 10% off all Disney owned restaurants and 20% off those on the list?
