niagara falls ontario trip?

Hey there! I was thinking about a trip to Niagara Falls (where I have not been since I was about 8 or 9) with my family and was wondering if any DISers had suggestions for things to do and nice places to stay.

I am thinking about the new Embassy Suites Fallsview as well as the new Doubletree Suites (just opened the end of June) as I have some Hilton points to use. I have checked trip advisor and travelocity review but would love to hear from any of you guys if you have any info. I remember the Maid of the Mist being a lot of fun as well as a trip behind the falls. Any suggestions?

clifton hill is street of fun on falls. i also enjoy walking accross rainbow bridge back to us.

The Maid of the Mist is a lot of fun. It's neat being that close to the falls, it's very wet and there's not much room to move around if your boat happens to be full. I would also walk along the river and rapids area and also the gorge is really cool.

Just came back from a great weekend in Niagara Falls-stayed at the Marriott-the view was awesome-right over Horseshoe Falls-it was great-Definitely buy the Adventure Pass-gives you transportation and admission to a variety of venues- a couple of tips-take some"small cash" with you-it's hard to obtain-also the only ATM's that work with US cards are in the casinos-the other ones around the hotels and such don't work with our cards.If you smoke-take some with you-they don't sell US brands up there-for the most part.Any questions just PM me-be happy to help-the Embassy Suites is in a great location-it's a pretty tall place-if you want a good falls view-ask for an upper floor.Hope this helps.

As far as transportation, is there like a trolley or some kind of local shuttle that goes around all the major sites?

Yes! There are double decker buses that run from Niagara Falls to beautiful Niagara-on-the-lake. It stops at all the major sites. You may want to post on the Canadian board as well. Have a great trip! Niagara Falls is an annual destination for us!
