Am planning to go up for a few days and am looking for recommendations for a hotel up there.

Let me first say that at Niagara Falls the Canadian side is much much nicer in our opinion. We stayed at the Sheraton on the Canadian side.

I have stayed on both sides of the Falls and think both are just as nice. Here are a couple of tourist sites to get an idea of what you want to do.

You might want to split your stay to take full advantage of the Falls and take in the fact that the border crossings are even longer now. Make sure to have lots of change for those tolls--roads in NY and bridges. I think the US side offers more for families and easier on the budget. If that doesn't apply to you, I say the Sheraton or on the US the Hyatt. There are nice budget hotels on both sides. Good luck and happy travels.:)

Oh, I forgot to say where I stayed---Kings Inn Near the Falls---very limited parking. I don't really recommend it despite it was a good price for the Canadian holiday in 1997. It is a 44 room hotel with limited free parking that tourists going to Clifton Hill section would fill up. I alsostayed at a Super 8 on the US that was okay back in 1991.

Thanks for all the great info!!!
Its going to be just me and gf and just for a few days so we can splurge on the hotel room.
I was wondering about the border crossing. I go to Detroit alot and see the lines crossing into Canada there always seem to be long.
Are there any documents that we need to take so we can get back into the US?

We took our Birth Certificates just in case but we weren't asked to show them. Our waits were not long either going into or coming from Canada.

Passports should work because it is an acceptable residency proof. Check out the offical tourism sites for back up info.

We went to the Falls 7/03... all we were asked at the border was how long are you are staying our names and our address and carrying any fireams/. On the way back to the USA.. they just ask did you buy anything for more 250 dollars... we said no.. unless you are asking about the box of Cuban cigars that were in with our dirty laundry. ,,,lol

Another vote for Marriott Fallsview! Every room has a fall's view (hence the name, I guess). Their tours are a bit pricey but well worth the money - they bring you to the front of some very long lines. The tour operators are in the lobby when you check in. They also had activities for the kids like a magician and puppet show. Very fun. Gotta love that exchange rate!
