Well another week has come and gone.... It got me to thinking... I met a lot of you over the last 2 years and it got me wondering how well I know you... And I don't know you all that well... My question this week is...

Were are you from? What do you do? What other interests besides Pin Collecting do you have (Disney or Non-Disney)?

I'm from New Hampshire... That is the NH in NHMickey... I sell RVs for a living and as far as other interests... Well I like to Golf and Read... In fact I love to read. I also have a love for landscaping in a small fashion.

Nat, I know Jeff set you up with this week's question of the week! He wants to see if I would answer & tell something about Beauford & me! What a name - Beauford - that's not his real name by the way! Let's see ... where are we from? we came from our mommies, but you already know that :) ... what do I do? ... I teach, sometimes, volunteer, other times ...interests? ... Disney, reading, photography, gardening, cooking, some needlepoint, ...

Judith... Jeff didn't set me up... Besides I already know everything about you guys:) But I won't tell Jeff :smooth:

Well, I was born a poor sharecroppers son....oops...wrong story....:D

Live in Connecticut (home of the famous Three Caballeros...and Dom). Married to my high school sweet heart Tim. I am a biochemist by trade, but have been a stay at home mommy for the last 11 years. We have three children and three dogs. In my spare time, I enjoy photography, gardening and needlework. I am also kind of into pin trading and collecting, but not on a serious basis...LOL!!!!! I am so happy to have found the DIS..you guys are the best!!!:D

Oh, and Nat, I could really use some landscaping help......I promise not to tell any more Red Sox jokes.....

well---I currently live in Central PA and I am an attorney with one of the top 25 largest law firms in the US (I practice Employment Law). I have been married for not quite 4 years to my DH Jeff who works in the grocery business (he is a food broker--if you know what that is...) . We met in what can only be described as a complete act of fate.... other than Disney and Jeff---my passions include skiing (DH and I try to take one ski trip and one Disney trip each year), reading, and I have recently joined the running ranks (and am preparing for the WDW 1/2 marathon!) I also took up scrapbooking about 2 years ago in a quest to organize all those Disney pictures (I am currenly working on our 1996 trip...) Jeff and I share our house with 3 cats (or I should say--they share their house with us). No kids YET but my baby sister gave birth yesterday to a bouncing baby boy making me an Aunt 8 times over...

I was born and raised in Bridgeport CT(home of the famous Three Caballeros and Dom). We did move away for a few years but wound up back here.
Single mother of 3 rotten kids. Only I can say that, to all of you they are wonderful. My boys are 25, 22, and 18, and yes, they all still live with me. Why move out when mom still does your laundry and cooks and cleans? I said they were rotten, not stupid.
I am a Registered nurse at Fairfield University. This is the bad week for me, the week before school starts and we are still waiting for 218 forms to come in. But I have a month off at Christmas and only work 2 weeks a month in the summer, so more time for WDW.
In my spare time I am working on my BSN, but the 3 courses I still need are never offered. So, I may graduate in 4 or 5 years.
I am also the conservator for my handicapped brother. I have live in care for him but I pay the bills, and do his shopping for him. So at least once a week I am there with him. I also drive his van when he has to get to the Dr or do some errands.
I do needlepoint and sew, love arts and crafts. I haven't done it in a long time, but I hope to start up my stained glass hobby again for Christmas gifts this year.
I like to garden, but all I ever do is pull weeds and mow, and I like to sit in the yard and enjoy the summer but I spent too much time in WDW this summer so I don't have time to sit.
It seems the only spare time I have lately is devoted to pins, and we all know how much time that takes.
But my favorite thing (other than Chocolate) is reading these boards and getting together with my wonderful pin friends. And of course running the pin swap. So send me your name and address. Peggie

Gosh I am not much of a story teller but here goes. I married my high school Paul sweetheart 21 years ago. We have three great kids. Our oldest Michelle will be 20 in two weeks, then there is Heather who is 16, and Anthony 7. The fourth child is very hairy and lovable, Roxy, our golden retriever. Paul works as a drywall finisher and I am a cook at a pizza shop. Our home is 1/2 hour east of Cleveland Ohio. Hobbies...oh my.....lets see, I love reading the most. Some of my favorite authors are James Patterson, and Nora Roberts. Also do alot of scrapbooking and now disney pins. Paul has taken up golf as his latest sporting hobby. We used to ski, play softball (5 teams between the two of us) and stay up late playing cards. Now we fish, read, he golfs and we do alot of relaxing with friends. Hey! we even took dance lessons last winter. What a great time that was. Paul is also an avid remodeler. My favorite line among friends is that I will eventually own a ranch style home as he keeps removing walls downstairs and soon the upstairs will just fall into the down and we will have a ranch. LOL!! Oh but he is a perfectionist and what he does around the house is wonderful.

This is a great post Nat.....its nice to find out about each other.

I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. I have been married for 29 years to Mike, who was a police officer for 20 years. He broke his back and was forced to retire, but now is the Vice President of Security for Allfirst Bank. I work presently in a Neurologist office. I owned a craft business and produced craft shows for about 10 years.

I have two great kids. Michael is an artist and has an art degree, and is starting back to school on Thursday to get his teaching credentials. He owns his own home, so this will be quite a challenge. Katie graduated from college last year and is working now. She is also going to Johns Hopkins to get her masters in Computer Engineering.

I love Disney and enjoy decorating my home with everything Mickey. I also love to dance, mostly Country Western. I also enjoy volunteering for the American Cancer Society and the Relay for life.

And I love collecting and trading pins.

I agree, Nat! This is a wonderful thread. It will be nice to put facts to names.....maybe someday I'll also put faces with them.

Let's see........I, too, married my high school sweetheart, 37 years ago, yesterday. We have three children, Kathy is 36 and an artist, Kevin is 34 and owns and operates a floor covering business and Kerin, my baby, is 28 and a teacher. Both Kevin and Kerin, along with Kevin's wife are as avid Disney people as my DH, Ralph, and I are. Kevin and his wife, Kim,( does anyone see a trend here? ) have five children, Samantha, 13, Eliza, 11, Tess, 7, Lily, 5, and Spencer, 3. Spencer was born on my birthday so he nows holds court on that day and I never have to have another one.

My passions are my children, grandchildren, Disney (of course), reading, sewing and antiques...also my DH. We like to travel and get to WDW at least twice a year, along with a trip to a warm spot in January each year.

That's about it, except.....I love pin trading!! and reading and occasionally posting on this board.

I live in Northern VA--arrived here via NE, CA, KS, and was born and raised in Port Jervis, NY, so you could say I've "been around". I'm in a life transition, as I recently sold my own business (8yrs)a country antiques/home/gift shop, and have a new job in the Admissions Office of our community college. Enjoying it, as I try to figure out what I want to do when I grow up. I'm a single Mom of 3 rotten kids, only I can say that, to all of you they are wonderful....oops! That's Peggie's story! But mine, too, as pin adventure partners we found we had some things in common! I have 2 boys, 1 girl, 25,22,16, and yes, they all live at home as well! Those of you in chat late last Thurs. learned more than you wanted to about DD! I "addict" easily--started with dolls when DD was small, then on to LE collectible "mice", then my biggest passion, antiques (which led to the business), but I literally have a house full(country primitive, not formal)and almost no more room, so moved on to silver jewelry, but have been saved by PINS! In my non-existent spare time I love, love, love to read--a huge passion since I was a very young girl. I also absolutely love going to the movies--in my "extra" non-existent spare time! Still antique, even though I don't have the business, and also have always loved to sing, so started taking singing lessons last year, and also joined the community choir. Finally, after living in the DC metro area for 13 years, and never doing anything, have started attending the theater and ballet at the Kennedy Center with a good friend--we figured we weren't getting any younger! Last, but definitely not least, I have 2 "kitties" who love me with no "sass" back--Cairo, and Bogart; they are a breed called "Cornish Rex", and made a "non-cat-lover" fall head over heels!

That's about it; love being on the boards, and getting to know everyone; great thread, Nat!:)

It was a dark and stormy night, then a shot rang out…. Err sorry

I was born on sunny banks of Australia while my father was diving the Great Barrier Reef…. No no wait wrong dream.

Oh yea-real life I am a Florida boy, love the heat hate the cold, had a life until I got married to a Canadian boy do they have a temper.

I had a career until I discovered pins… well actually I'm Vice President of a company called Rauland Borg. We loot and pillage little villages on th….. Err sorry lost track.

We do technical stuff like networks, intercom phones, nuclear reactors for the home ect.

I'm thirty-five minutes away from WDW, and spend mostly every weekend there (itsnotazoo).

I love pins, but there is nothing to compare to a good tractor pull, god I'm a redneck oh no y'all gotta help me.

I was a comedian for a while but decided I wanted to eat from time to time, but in my heyday I was good.

What do men and parking spaces have in common… all the good ones are taken, and the ones left are either handicapped or too small. Brrrump tisjhhhhhhh.

See I told you I was good.

I was an Imagineer for awhile, my claims to fame are the sound systems and TV networks inside the Grand-Floridian my first design I was a snot nosed kid then, then came Beach and Yacht club, Fort Wilderness (were I created the phrase everything you hear is sound… long story), Then I left cause minimum wage was just not cutting it, but made a cameo appearance when they called me back for the Coronado Resort then that was it I went away.

I'm a really nice guy have lots of cast member friends now thanks to pintrading. And love everybody I have met from the boards you all are great.

I'm 38, an Aries, and not afraid to cry especially after changing the sparkplugs on my AstroVan I cried like a baby, and you would too. Top bottom twist bend NEVER AGAIN I'll sell the thing before the next tune up.

I have taken the name Raul cause everybody calls me that now, my sidekick is pinboy who now wants to be Pinbad the Pirate.

And that's pretty much it.

Hi John and I have been married for 34 years. I am a disney store cast member at King of Prussia. Come in and see some time.
I have two children My daughter is a severe diabetic and just had her second baby. She was All American gymnist. She is a stay at home Mom now.
My son went to Penn Charter Private School where he excelled Computors and Track and Field.
He took second place in the Penn Relays in the Long Jump while in high school. He now is a Manger and Architect of computers
Some years ago I was the director of a Cheerleading Program. I had 102 girls. I coached a team for competition along with my daughter.
I did the cheerleading part and pyramids and Michelle did the dance.
Our girls ranged in age from 7 to 11.
The appeared on the Steve Levy Show National TV. They also did Temple's halftimes during Basketball season. You know John Chaney's team.
I could not even begin to tell you how many competitions they had won. At one time they were teaching High School teams and even one time St Joseph University Cheerleaders.
This was one of the highlights of my life I cherish most.
I collect Hummels and have so for many years. Also Baseball, football, basketball and hockey cards.
Now I do pins which I am thinking of getting out of.

I am a 43 yrs old native New Yorker, born in Manhattan and lived in Staten Island for 25 yrs. I have been married for 16 yrs to hubby Jerry (a Jerry Garcia lookalike). We have two daughters,Kathryn, almost 14 and Bridget 6.
Ten years ago my hubby hurt his knee as a surveyor so now he's Mr.Mom. We took his settlement(from Workers Comp) and moved to Palm Springs CA 6 yrs ago.
I worked at Kinkos for 3 yrs and now at a plumbing contractor doing Accounts Payable answering phones and whatever else needs done.
11 yrs ago I was on Jeopardy, came in 2nd place, so I'm a trivia queen. I can knit, cross stitch and do needlework but haven't in awhile.
My obsession is pins and going to DL to buy them.
We just bought our 1st house to house us , my 86 yrs old mother in law and her 89 yr old brother.

Let's see - I was born, yep pretty sure of that. According to my paper work I was born in Boston and lived there for 36 years, 3 years ago I moved to a small town on the South Shore of Boston.

I currently am in charge of civilian operations for the State Police in Mass, I work 11pm to 7am which means I get to surf those late night ebay auction bargains. I have been here for 17 years and am looking forward to retiring as soon as my son graduates college or finds a rich girl to keep him in the style he is accustomed to .

I live with 2 very handsome men in my dream home on the beach front - which is perpetually under construction. One guy makes the money and the younger one spends it so it works out quite well. They both tolerate my Disney obsession although they both have the eyeroll down to a science  .

Hobbies - well Disney , of course. Then the Red Sox, I would also say I am sports addicted. How do you know - well if you wake up at 3am just to catch the live broadcast of Australian football - you can be pretty sure your addicted. My next hobby lately has been going to DIS meets even when I tell the famaily they are somewhere they aren't;). I also love to go to th range to practice my shooting/waving skills.

I am 37 (38 this weekend) and married to David (also 38), the boy next door. We've known each other since we were 2 years old, but never dated. Then we went to my 10-year high school reunion and it was love at first sight! We are married 8 years and have a 4.5 year-old trouble maker named Megan. She's my little sugar-pop!

I am a full-time Mom since she was born, but before that I was executive assistant to the CEO of a large university medical center. I have a bachelors degree in math, so I am able to count my pins and remember lots of PinPics numbers, lol.

I am also a former competitive figure skating, but gave that up to go to college so I could get a math degree to be able to count pins real good.

I have a part-time business selling collectible toys on eBay (haven't branched out to selling pins yet, though). This helps fund my pin addiction. My DH runs the family business which supplies dry cleaners and tailors with their items (bags, tags, zippers, chemicals, thread, hangers, etc.). This helps fund my travel addiction. (4 trips to WDW this year and Tokyo in 2003 - woohoo!!)

We are DVC members since last year and own at the Boardwalk. We just had to buy near a pin cart so we could have Leighton give us our pin fix regularly, lol.

~Nancy~

Great idea, Nat. Some really interesting reading here!
I'm 43 (since I'm male, that's about 12 in female years, maturity-wise), born and raised in the Boston area, went to college/lived in Cleveland for 17years, then moved back to Beantown. Got married 17 years ago, have the two greatest kids in the world - 10 year old girl, 8 yr old boy, both pin traders - and have been an at-home dad for 10 years. Before that I was a high school biology teacher. I work ocassionally teaching SAT review classes to insecure high school students, just to earn money for pins. My DW, while extremely tolerant, hasn't been bitten by the pin bug, so I try to fund my addiction myself.
I read everything I can get my hands on, I love sports, and play tennis as often as possible. During the school year I volunteer at my kids' elementary school at least 3 days a week. I can't garden to save my life. I'm also really bad at wrapping presents. I like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain. I'm not into health food, I am into champagne. (Oops, sorry. Temporary flashback!) I've met some great people through this board, and I hope to meet many more. I've also seen the results of Nat's landscaping prowess firsthand!
Fortunately, my whole family is really into Disney (DVC since 1995), so I'll be back as often as possible, usually chasing lanyard-wearing cast members just about anywhere they go.

The name "Goober" is an endearment my husband has given to the kids, so that's the name I chose. I'm 41 and was born on Christmas day. Half Irish, half Danish. We're from Wyoming and were transferred down to Texas because of my husbands job. He is a Project Leader in the gas field down here. My husband and I will be married 15 years in 2 weeks. We met in college, but didn't get back together until 5 years later. I was working in Nebraska as a Veterinary Technician and we specialized in small and exotic animals, along with running the sale barn. We married and moved back to Wyoming. I hope someday to move back to Wyoming or Colorado (where my family lives). I have two great kids, Christopher 13 and Caitlin 9. They keep me pretty busy between sports and car pooling. I've been a stay at home mom for quite a few years now and I'm glad we're lucky enough that I have that option. I also volunteer at school in a reading program to help children to succeed in reading. The last 2 1/2 years I've been on the Parent Teacher Committee as 1st and 2nd vice-president. No one else is interested in pins, except for me. My husband kind of rolls his eyes when I show him a new one. I love antiques, but don't seem to ever get a chance to search them out. I love to tole paint and stencil. Along with any kind of crafts. I had been attending some craft shows, but they are not as popular in south Texas as they are up north. And I also like to garden, which is pretty much a full time job down here. March was the first time we had ever been to WDW and I hope we'll be able to go back sometime soon.

Hi, I'm Dar, 27. :D Husband's name is Robert, 30. We live in Tampa, but are originally Midwesterners (I'm from St. Louis, he's from Indy). Actually, I was born in Clearwater, so the folks down here call me a native, even though I only lived here for about the first 3 weeks of life.

I'm a civil engineer, he's a veterinary assistant. We both love all sports, but are particularly fond of St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Purdue Univ., Indy Colts, Indy Pacers, IRL, etc.

In addition to sports, we have an interest in biking, reading, travelling, and we tend to move alot (I've lived in FL, TX, MI, IN, MO, VA). We are currently building a house, and hope to settle down a bit. He likes to golf, I just watch. We also love animals, and have two cats who are babied terribly. We hope to get a dog when we get the house, but argue daily over what breed (he wants an Aussie, I want a Golden). I also scrapbook when I get the chance, but pin trading has sucked all my scrapbooking funds!

Hubby and his family are certified Disney freaks. They introduced me to the joy of staying on property, and I've enjoyed our trips to WDW. Hubby and I now consider ourselves 'day-trippers', though.. and I see WDW in a totally different light.

Umm... that's pretty much it. Pretty boring otherwise. I consider myself a pretty calm person, but I can blow up if the occasion warrants it! ;) Other than that, I just take life as it is.

Dar :bounce:
