NHL Playoffs: Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins

YES!!!!!! The Leafs are in it to win it!!!!
But that 3rd period power play by the Bruins nearly gave me a heart attack!!!

I said if I was attached to a blood pressure monitor, I'm not sure what would have happened. Very intense game! Go Leafs!!!

You know what that reminded me of? Game 5 against the Flyers 3 years ago.
The Bruins came into that game with a 3-1 lead, having just lost a tough Game 4, with all expectations of finishing things off on home ice-and played the most lethargic game I have ever seen. This one was almost as bad, the team showed NO energy, No desire. Rask was the only reason the score was as close as it was.

Now we have to get into those back-to-back games the team needed to avoid.

That noise will haunt me until the game tomorrow night. And I'm not referring to the little pixie that many people on these boards are fond of. I'm talking about the noise of a puck ringing off the iron with 2 sec remaining in the game. But even though I almost broke my thumb off of the bar, it still never should've come to that point.

The Bruins as a team didn't even really show up until 10 min into the 2nd period. The 1st period looked more like a morning skate rather than a playoff game. And even though they were down a man, I still have no idea why Ferrence was out there on that pp. And we saw the result.

My stomach is going to be in knots for the next 25.5 hours. Then for the 3 hours after that, I will be even worse

2 periods down and zeros on the board. This is the type of game that'll give you an ulcer. Now, it's one bad bounce, one missed defensive assignment and that's it.
It seems to me that, while both teams have come to play, the Leafs are winning most of the races while the battles are split along the boards.
I think the Bruins must shoot faster. Don't wait for someone to get in front to deflect the shot and go..to..the..net!

Game 7 tomorrow and with the recent inability of the Bruins to win in the Garden. I'm not confident. Also the third game in four nights have not been good for them this year.

What are they thinking? A drop pass with a Leaf standing RIGHT THERE!! WHY WON'T THEY SHOOT!! And then..Kessel!

If they are going to have a chance tomorrow they MUST score first and fast! Stop making Reimer look better than he is like they did Holtby last year.(That is not to say Reimer isn't a good goalie, he is, but not that good.)

I didn't want to have to look at this thread today. The thread that I started and enjoy doing. But, I am a grown-up and I have to take my medicine. Much like hearing the "THANK YOU SEGUIN" chant through the TV. But you have to take as good as you give.

All that being said, both the B's and Leafs' season comes down to 60 minutes. No excuses will be accepted. No "Ferrence is sick", nor "They were tired because their plane was broke." None of it. This is a true test. When you squeeze them, will they rise or will they sink? The 2nd line has to step up now that the Leafs have redistributed their defense to stifle the Krejci line.

Should the Bruins lose tonight, do not be surprised to see a lot of new names and faces next year. Claude's name is 1 that is often up in the air. Jagr will be gone. Horton and Ferrence may be salary cap casualties (and if the team doesn't look like they're on the upswing, they won't take a home team discount). And you may see Kelly and/or Peverley bundled in a trade in the offseason. These players, and others, may be writing their resume' tonight. That is the 1 edge that the B's have.

Come on Bruins. Give at least 2 more weeks, where we have a choice between sports and not just baseball.

I have to admit that, though I live in Toronto, I'm not generally a Leafs fan, but (like many others) have joined the bandwagon over the past few days. Friday was their first "at home" play off win to the Bruins since 1959! How can you can not get excited by that (unless, of course, you are a Bruins fan)? Admittedly, I don't actually know how often the Leafs have played the Bruins in Toronto during a play off.

Walking to work this mornings, there were quite a few jersey wearers - and one guy wearing a full uniform (including helmet, but not including skates).

Whichever way it goes, there have been some good games during this series.

Just imagine that Reimer left a juicy, gravy covered rebound in front of the net, and there isn't a spoked B to be seen before Phaneuf can clear it out... AGAIN!!!!!

A little over 200 minutes until faceoff. Game 7's are coronary episodes personified. Every drop of the puck, every shot, every check, every line change, every save and every penalty call carries 10 times the weight. It will be brutal. I was hoping I wouldn't have to break out my last ditch good luck charm so early, but it's come to this.

2 years ago, a group of us were watching 1 of the playoff games at a local watering hole (John Brewer's in Waltham). My sister-in-law noticed that I had the nervous habit of picking apart my (and everyone else's) beer coasters. I didn't even realize I was doing it myself. The B's made it to the next round. Before the Stanley Cup round, she gave me a pack of beer coasters to pick apart. We all know how that ended. I still have a few of those coasters left. I may have to dust them off. Get my Budweiser cooled down and I may have to prep my good luck drink... a white russian. It all goes down at 7pm tonight.

PS: I have a theory about why the Leafs have stepped up their game. And it all goes back to the Cuthbert/Mrs. Reimer video. Do you think the ladies went back to their men and threatened them that they would "withhold affection" if they EVER put them in an awkward position like that again?

Classic. I'm laughing like crazy picturing you going through rocks and chewing paper.

Mazz keeps saying the Bruins need to be uncomfortable to play well. He even want the Leafs to get the early lead to get them desperate. I would think they should be PLENTY desperate right now.

Here's hoping the bounces go our way tonight. I'd like to keep watching another couple of weeks.
