Why wouldn't they give him UT head coach? I think he would kill it. He would run the offense, obviously, and all he would have to do is get him a good defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator.

I hope he does become the UT coach, since he never could beat the Gators...

I can't see Peyton becoming a coach. It just doesn't seem like something he'd be inclined to do. Not a lot of QB's become coaches - not sure why, but it just doesn't seem to happen.

GM or VP of Player Personnel somewhere, maybe, along the lines of what Elway did. Or like others have said, go the Troy Aikman route and become a commentator.

Other than the great Jim Harbaugh of course.

GO BLUE!

Sorry...this whole conversation reminded me of the complete circus surrounding Harbaugh coming back to UM last year. Not that I wasn't thrilled myself, but seriously....the entire state of MI acted like it was either the Messiah or the "other" guy below coming - depending if you were a Michigan fan or State fan, of course. ;)

And I like Manning! And love his commercials - better than 90% of the commercials on nowadays. I'd love to see him become a college coach so he can run the youth and high school summer football camps, to be honest, although I cannot get the SNL skit out of my mind. So funny!

I tend to fall into this camp. For some reason I really don't see him on the sidelines with a head set and a play sheet in his hand. I really don't see him in a booth or studio except for "guest appearances" either. If anything, I see him as a (partial) owner. Heck, the Bronco's will need to be sold soon...Elway and Manning partners?

I adore Peyton and I hope he does go into broadcasting or something he loves but his voice actually grates on me. I'm not sure what it is as I like southern accents so it's not that. I can't pin down what it is but I just don't care for his voice. Eli doesn't sound like Peyton at all and I'm not sure I have heard their oldest brother Cooper speak.
[sung to the tune of "Nationwide is on your siiiiide...."]

".....don't you like his voice at alllllll.....?"

Cooper sounds more like Eli.

A story showed up on my Facebook newsfeed yesterday that made me think of this post. It said that Peyton was born with a cleft palate but not a cleft lip. I wonder if that could have affected his voice. According to that story he had several surgeries and wore braces for an extended time. I have never heard this before so I don't know if it is accurate.

Congrats Cam! If Newton and the Panthers win Sunday, it would make Newton the first quarterback ever to win a Heisman Trophy, college football national championship, NFL MVP and Super Bowl.

Newton was a landslide choice for MVP, with 48 votes from a nationwide panel of 50 sportswriters and broadcasters who regularly cover the NFL. Fellow QBs Tom Brady and Carson Palmer each received one vote.

Ron Rivera has won The NFL Coach of the Year award for the second time in three years.
Rivera led the Carolina Panthers to an unprecedented third straight NFC South title and two playoff victories. He has the Panthers in the Super Bowl with a 17-1 record.

Most analysts wrote the Panthers off as a legitimate Super Bowl contender when No. 1 receiver Kelvin Benjamin went down with a torn ACL in August. Instead, Rivera's outfit became just the fourth team in NFL history to win 14 consecutive games to start the season.

If they come out on the winning end of Super Bowl, the 2015 Panthers will be the first team since Rivera's celebrated 1985 Super Bowl Shuffle Bears to hoist the Lombardi Trophy with 18 wins versus just one loss. Going back to December of 2014, Rivera has led Carolina to 22 wins in 24 games.

I think Peyton needs to go into broadcasting. Not coaching IMHO!

Both my husband and daughter have this, their's is called a "sub-mucous cleft palate" and does impact their speech. My daughter really should have her adenoids removed, but doing so would drastically change her speech and the ENT says it's not worth doing so. (She would get super nasally, like if you talk with your nose pinched together.)

Well, the die has been cast. DW has decided to root for the Broncos, saddling me with the oh-so-humble Newton and the kittens. At stake is a frozen yogurt.

Oh how I wish the Hawks had started playing in the 2nd quarter instead of the third.

I'm going to have to go with Carolina ...I just can't bring myself to root for a cheater.

Rooting for Cam because I am so tired of boring quarterbacks winning. If Peyton wins, I'll skip his presser for a piece of wheat toast with margarine.

Oh, and let's be real. Of course Peyton used HGH. So did a bunch of guys. Notice that they started testing for it and a bunch of high profile injuries have happened the past two seasons? If you were getting blasted by 300 lb dudes weekly, you'd want something to keep you going too.
