Next trip I'm booking a resort w/out a pool! *Pg 25 Final DxDP numbers & last update!

You all ready for this??? Finally I have my DxDP number crunch all ready, so here’s a recap…

Total for Day 1: 83.51
Total for Day 2: 174.64
Total for day 3: 110.22
Total for Day 4: 341.22
Total for Day 5: 426.42
Total for Day 6: 200.56
Total for Day 7: 187.73

That’s a GRAND TOTAL of: $1524.30 that we would have spent on our food and snacks for the week had we paid OOP.

So, what was the cost of the DxDP?

To figure out our total bill for the DxDP I took the daily cost x 6 nights

Anyone super good at math-in-their-head figure it out yet??? popcorn::

That comes to a total cost of $1212 for the DxDP which means that not only did we actually break even, but we saved $312.30!

:cheer2: :woohoo: :yay: :banana:

Can you tell how excited I am? We missed 2 big meals so I thought our DxDP savings had gone down the toilet. And we even left a few credits unused. Imagine our savings had we actually used them!

I am mostly just relieved that we at least didn’t lose money--I was so certain we had!

I guess this means for our next trip, I won’t hesitate to do a dining plan again (as long as DH can learn to control himself at Ohana! :laughing:)--the only decision left is, which one?!? :rolleyes:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, folks, stick a fork in me 'cause I'm done!
I never thought I'd say it, but I've run out of things to say for this trip.
:sad1:
But wait. Don't jerk a big one yet...or if you already have, dry those eyes!
What, do you ask, could possibly be good about finishing a TR and not having any more Disney to write about??
A new PTR, that's what!!! :laughing:
I can officially start the PTR for my upcoming trip!! :woohoo: I've been itching to start one, but I told myself, "Bad Melissa! You CANNOT be a negligent DISer and start a PTR before your current TR is finished!" So I managed to hold out. In the mean time, I've been toying around with a couple of PTR names and I've come up with a couple of good ones. I'm having such a hard time choosing...a good PTR title can really make or break a PTR, don't you think?? Now to just make a decision and start a thread!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for following along--a great following really helps a TR out! ;) I hope you all will follow along with our next adventure!
(Pardon me if this sounds corny but...I can't resist...)
See you real soon :wave2:
I loved reading along with your TR, and that's great to see the numbers all broken down and your savings. That's great that you saved that much even without using all the credits!
i have been awol a lot lately but have really enjoyed your TR and especially your fuzzy math!
looking forward to your next ptr---are you really going solo:love::woohoo: i am looking forward to a grown-ups only trip!
see ya on the next chapter!! (now i have to read back a few pages)
So glad to hear about your savings! That's awesome!!!!!
Where's that new PTR at? I can't wait to follow along! popcorn::
Glad they finally got that lady off the plane. I would have been so mad if I missed my connecting flight. I haved taken a connecting flight in 10 years or so, I don't think I could handle with kids. I really want to go to CA but don't love that we can't fly directly from around here.
I'm am anxiously awaiting your totals. Good job getting the snacks and using the $52 that would have gone to waste. I think we are just done with the dining plan in the future, but we'll see.
Diane -- jetblue flies nonstop from jfk to burbank nonstop. DH flew for $229 one way this summer
Melissa I just read back to catch up. i love your mickey mug -- well worth potentially missing ME! i love my glass minnie mug i bought in 2009 and will wash it out in the am to use it if its dirty -- never mind the stack of big mugs we have!
wonder what was the deal with coughing lady? sheesh!!
thanks AGAIN FOR A FUN TRIP!!
I really enjoyed your trip report! I was al ittle worried (and stressed with you when your plans changed) But happy to see it all worked out with the DxDP!
Looking forward to following along as you plan you upcoming trip!!
Thanks for the tip! I hate driving to JFK and try to avoid it, but it is much better than dealing with connecting flights.
:banana::banana: for DXDP savings! I am very surprised you saved that much. It wasn't looking good. I still love the dxdp but need to travel with people who actually eat for it to be worth it.
Looking forward to the Pretrip report. I can't wait to see where you are going to stay.
Good work on beating the system! When I did our math on the last trip it turned out it would have been nearly exactly even for what we spent vs. a regular dining plan. (plus ~$500 in alcohol :rolleyes1)
Kudos also on getting your TR done so you can start your PTR :goodvibes. Joyce took the easy way and had me do this last TR so she could do a PTR without feeling guilty. She's going to be extra busy now because she's got to fit in a bonus (Benless) trip in May! (:woohoo: for J, :sad1: for B).
WOW, well glad to here it was worth it in the end, makes you feel a lot better knowing you made out well!
YAY for another PTR underway!:cool1:
Does it still count as a solo trip if you are going with a group of really good girlfriends?? Then yes, I am. I guess you could say that I am going solo...from my family! ;)
I hope to get it up and running this weekend. I will post a link here once I have.
Great saving on the dining plan. Thanks for a great trip report :goodvibes
Can you believe that we saved that much? You're right--it wasn't looking good for us! I had to look at my calculator app twice to make sure that I had done all of the math correctly! :eek:
I wish my DH would write a TR for me. That way I could just follow along and make witty comebacks/comments. ;) But alas, he thinks the DIS boards are lame. *sigh*
I can't believe that she is going to go without you! :guilty: Sorry for you but good for her!
WOW, well glad to here it was worth it in the end, makes you feel a lot better knowing you made out well!
Thank you joining in and reading! :goodvibes
Hi there! I know this TR is over, but I wanted to tell you that I just found it today and read it all in one sitting. It's fantastic!
I'm a high school teacher, and I'm home sick today with the "crud" that's been flying around campus the last week or so. I basically had to spend all day in bed with my laptop for company, so I figured what better way to recuperate than hang out on the Dis?
I love the coffee mug that you got right before ME took you back to the airport. I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for it when I'm back in the World this coming summer. It looks like it's resort-specific, themed to AKL, which makes be quite happy -- I've never been a huge fan of generic souvenirs that you can buy anywhere and everywhere.
Can't wait to read your next PTR!
Take care,
Dave
Thanks for reading and for the compliments! I didn't see that mug anywhere but at Jambo house and Kidani, so I'm thinking it probably was resort specific. Hope they still have it when you go next summer! :thumbsup2
Shameless plug alert!!! I've started a new PTR. If you'd like to follow along, click here.
Hope to see some of you over there--a good PTR needs good readers!! :goodvibes
