We are currently accepting air reservations through August 10, 2012. On January 22, 2012, we will open our schedule for sale through September 28, 2012. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently.

I am kind of surprised that the next round of fares will be getting released on a Sunday

For the past two years Southwest has released through the end of October on 3-23-10 & 3-22-11. I am not sure when they start November but I think it won't be until April.

That's close, but doesn't quite match my info (see thread of Historical SWA Release Dates). SWA opened through 11/4/11 on 3/14/11 and through 11/5/2010 on 3/23/10.

The rest of November has been a little iffy. They opened through 1/6/12 on 5/24/11 but the prior year opened through 1/7/11 on 6/15/10.

Since they seem to be releasing a little farther out now than inthe past, I would look for rest of November to open for booking no sooner than March, but possibly in April or May. We'll know in a couple of weeks regardless.

Thanks for posting this....I came over to the transportation board to find this out myself as I'm planning a mid October trip....I just wanted some idea and this at least tells me I should have another payday (paid once a month) before then, maybe 2. That helps the budget a lot...

Now that's the big question. They released their last dates on a Sunday and booking wasn't available until late morning CT (around 10 a.m., IIRC). For the last several releases before that, however, booking opened as early as 5:30 a.m. CT.

My best advice would be to get up early and start trying as soon as you are up, but don't be surprised if it's a few hours before you are able to book. Also, be prepared for the new dates to appear and disappear from the display of available dates one or more times, which can complicate booking and be very frustrating.

Why would one wake up early to check the prices? Are they often the lowest when they first become available???

I am debating on waiting on SW for JB to open up their booking window for the week I need.
