Ok, my resale contract SHOULD be closing today. :cool1: So now how do I go about actually making a ressie? I know I will have to wait for them to enter my info first, but then who do I call? Im really clueless after the "closing point" and don't want to wait until I receive my paperwork in a month or so to call. :confused3

To make a DVC reservation, you call Member Services. DIS board rules do not allow us to post the toll free number. The regular number is 407-566-3800. I'm sure one of the CMs will give you the toll free number if you ask.

FWIW, if you google DVC Member Services 800, you can easily find the toll free number.

Best wishes -

FYI, you may need to wait a few weeks to get into the system with Member Services. I closed late June, and am still not in the system as of this morning.....

But congratulations!

Don't want to hijack the thread, but this question is related.

We "closed" on a private sale a week or so ago. The lawyer sent in the info to record the deed at that time. .

What should we expect to receive from DVC? Do we get booklets, cards, welcome letter......

We are waiting, but we don't know what we are waiting for.

Thanks

Looks like were in the same boat LoveMickey. So who was the first person to contact you when you closed, the resale agent or closing agent? Thanks to those that help about the number! At least it gives me a place to start! :teeth:

Based on the information I received from my agent related to the process, once the closing documenation is received from both the buyer and the seller, everything is then sent to DVC to process the change of ownership. That can take a couple of weeks. Once DVC receives the information it usually only takes a short amount of time to get your membership info created, but could take a little longer to get all of the points information manually entered. About 30 days after that you would get the DVC membership package, which I believe would include ALL the details about ownership, cards, etc. About 60 days after closing, you should get your deed with the raised seal from the court house and also the title insurance documents (if you got that).

If you purchased direct thru DVC it probably goes a bit faster than that.

You might not actually hear anything from anyone after closing... depending on how your resale agent handles things. However, once everything goes to DVC, you should be the new point of contact to receive information direct from them. So once you verify that everything has been sent to DVC, give it a week and then call to see if you are in the system.

Good luck!

We bought through a private sale. We "closed" with the lawyer and the seller 2 weeks ago.

The lawyer sent the document to change the deed to someone (can't remember who) in Florida. They were to change the deed send us the copies and contact DVC.

We have not heard from anyone at this point.

The Seller has contacted her agent (she only sold one of her contracts) and he said he would be handling our too. So we do have someone we can call, but we are still waiting patiently or not SO patiently. (wish there was a spell check on the sites) :earboy2:

If they are waiting to notify DVC after the deed is recorded with the clerks office, you could be waiting awhile. As long as all of the final closing documents have been signed by both parties and all of the money paid, they should be able to notify DVC before the deed is officially recorded with the county. At least that's what is supposed to happen with my transaction. The title company will send me (the buyer) and the seller the final documents. We sign them and send them back to the title company (along with all of the money due) and then they notify DVC to transfer everything and the info is sent to the clerk to be recorded.

Above is the quote from vascubaguy:

This is the stage that we are at. Buy and seller signed final docs and they went back to the title company - with their monies.

Thanks for the info

If that is the stage you are at from 2 weeks ago, the title company should have notified DVC by now, IMO. You could just give the title company a call and see if they have notified DVC yet because you need to get your membership number to book a reservation. If it has been done, start calling DVC to see if they have gotten you setup.

Good luck!

thanks we'll do that.

Just heard that DVC would not put through the title until all of the dues were paid for, for the year. This is 2 weeks after the info was sent to the title company. The title company called the lawyer, not us.

Just to let you know.

We'll be paying them today.
