Next round of Fastpass testing 9/18

I have no idea what you mean by "main" Fastpass system but the ability to schedule ride times after entering the park is not going anywhere. It WILL change and evolve in the near future. A paperless option is in the works which would allow guests to secure FP windows (just as they do now) without having to physically cross the park and insert their ticket in a kiosk.

Yes, Disney is spending a lot on this. They see paperless FP as an advantage to ALL guests (again, not having to retrieve paper tickets.) The PLUS part of it will most likely be offered only to Disney resort guests or will require an additional purchase.

Disney has no intention of making all guests schedule their park touring weeks in advance. This is about providing more options to the millions of guests who are obsessive planners and have been asking for more functionality.

You are reading too much into my comments. The intent was to be matter-of-fact. My response was no different than the "tone" I would use if someone said they didn't like to shop at Target ("then don't go there--go to WalMart instead") or told me they didn't like Ford vehicles ("then don't buy one--buy a Dodge.")

If you don't want to schedule ride times in advance....just don't do it.

Unlike you I would never say that to someone, unless I was asked for my advice.

I read the article that this post referred to and I understand that they want to eliminate the paper.
BUT what they are testing now includes one picking their times.
My reaction to that was that I believed it wasn't something I liked or would like and in prior posts I actually said that I probably wouldn't use it
So again your comment wasn't warranted, nor asked for.
But as I said prior to another poster your welcome to YOUR opinion

Well I have done my test, and I think this new system is a stinker. We had last min people come with and we were able to get them into the test, but not with us. So if you have last min people, good luck. I just think it is way to much planing, looking at your watch, and stressful. Vacation is not about stress. I know this is not going away due to the investment, and I hope it becomes a paid option. This way I know I won't be using it. Not a fan at all.

Thanks for your feed back. I do hope you had a magical time any way. Did you get a sense that paying for it may be the route they may be going? Even still, those super planners who save up for those every 2 to 3 year trips will probably do just that save up and plan for it.

I have no clue either way if it will go to a paid feature. All I know is the whole process setting it up is a pain and a headache that I don't want to do again. You can make charged same day as well. I have not been a fan of Fastpass and this has made me like it even less.

We got a chance to use our's today as well. It went fine I guess, just waved them in front of the Mickey scanner and walked in. I'm not sure if we would use them in the future but I am sure we wouldn't pay for the privilege.

I couldn't get any cast members to say too much about the future plans of the program.…so either they were tight lipped or were clueless, probably the latter.

Edit: thought I might give some insight as to why we probably won't use it. My wife and I go quite often and really enjoy park hopping and generally bouncing around the parks. As much as I am a planner, Disney is the one place I just relax and go with the flow.

So this madness is not going to stop until we are all required to figure out, 180 days in advance:
  • Which park we want to go to;
  • Where we want to eat;
  • Which rides we want to ride, and at what time;
  • Which car we want to sit in on Expedition Everest;
  • Which hitch-hiking ghost we want to accompany us home from the HM;
  • Which row we want to choose on Soarin';
  • and which spot along the parade route we would like to reserve for all the parades.

Sometimes, a new technology is implemented simply because is it possible, and not because it is truly needed. Me thinks this one fits that bill.

You forgot bathroom breaks, temper tantrums, and how many cream/ sugars you want in your coffee.
