Do they have anything special going on New Years Day? or on New Year's Eve?.. We will be there and would like to know if maybe tickets to a party need to be purchased before hand? We will be staying right on Disney!... Thanks.. Sarah

We have been there the last 3 NYE. Each park has something special(except AK). We spent the first one at mgm in am and epcot in pm with dinner at Teppanyaki. They had alot of ourdoor events and they hand out noicemakers and hats. Last year we spent the whole day and night at MGM with dinner at BD. Lots of music and fun. If you plan on MK for the day get there early and plan on staying there with no park-hopping or you will not get back in. Make PS (ADR) at exactly 90 days which means to need to make the committment to that park when you do. There is also a party in epcot with dinner and live music at the old millenium village near canada but it is extra $$, but it has something for every age. Swan/Dolphin also has similar dinner and music party. It is very crowded at the parks, but alot of fun. They all hav eextra fireworks and MGM's are amazing!
Have FUN..we are leaving on the 31st this year so we will miss the fun.

we are going over news years too....Our first time over the holidays.

This is what I have been looking at:

La Nouba is going to have a special new years Eve performance however the tickets have NOT been released for sale yet. I have been told to try back in a month but this is frustrating as what if it sells out and you don't even know it?
We were going to try to do this for new years eve however decided against it as we didn't like to have to "wait". So...just today I booked tickets for Jan 3rd and got excellent seats!
We would have been extremely disappointed if the News Year pricing came out and it was just too expensive, not good seats, etc and if then we decided to book La Nouba for another date and couldn't get seats!! YIKES!

So...we will likely be in MK with all the other 4 million people for News Years Eve and we are just planning now what we would like to do for dinner that night.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I found some ideas on the website listed below

Good luck planning your trip and I look forward to seeing what you decide so maybe we can get some advice too!

We did NYE in the MK last year. DH and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary, and it was a fantastic way to spend the day. Yes, the crowds were outrageous, but it's definitely worth doing at least once. We made our ADR's at 90 days out. You would be surprised how many people don't do this and are then out of luck when the munchies arrive. The MK handed out noisemakers and hats, and there were amazing fireworks at midnight. We went with the attitude that we would be just hanging out for most of the day, but we ended up being able to ride everything we wanted to ride. Our longest wait was 60 minutes for Splash...everything else we FP'ed multiple times. The MK opened up behind Main Street to help people exit the park after closing. We watching the fireworks from in front of the Mickey & Minnie topiary and were actually back at the Wilderness Lodge before 1am. Can't wait until our kids are older so they can ring in the new year like this!

We just changed our trip dates and will now be there over New Years. I have no idea what we will be doing New Years Eve. I was thinking of just spending it relaxing at the resort or trying Epcot out.

I can not imagine my kids being able to hold out for a whole day at a park and from what I have heard/read if we leave the park we may not get back in. I am excited to be ending one year and brining in the next at WDW.

Sound so romantic.... I can't wait.

Where did you eat dinner and at what time?

We were there last New Years Eve, it was something really cool to experience. We went to Future World in the morning, then spent the afternoon at the Boardwalk pool and went back to the World Showcase at night. It was very crowded, but I still enjoyed myself, it was so weird for it to be warm on NYE since being from MA it's usually pretty cold on NYE. We actually were able to get PS's for Norway just a couple days before. We hadn't planned to be there for NYE, but our whole trip was shifted by two days when we couldn't get out of Boston due to snowstorms, so it was a nice surprise to get to be there for NYE. :goodvibes

It was romantic, even with 60000 of our closest friends all around us. Can't wait to do it again! Our anniversary celebration this year won't be able to come close...guess we'd have to do a vow renewal to top it. :)

We had dinner at the Plaza at 9pm. We'd never tried it before, and it's now one of our favorites.

Hope you have a good time! We'll be there about a week later! :)

We were at WDW last NYE! It was awesome! By far, the best NYE I've ever experienced! We decided to go to MGM just because the stories of MK kind of scared me. Plus, we have pre-teen daughters and it sounded like the music would be geared more toward the Radio Disney crowd. Well, it was!! All of us were dancing to music from the 80's and 90's, with performers and such. The fireworks were great! Here's a few pics of our time there..

We will have young children with us and do not plan to be in a park in the evening (DH and I hope to see some of the fireworks from our room). Does anyone think that AK would be a good place to spend the day since they do not have nighttime activities planned? Thanks!

ooohhhh...never thought of MGM....now that would be fun too......choices, choices.....looks like your family had a ball!
Were the fireworks at midnight or was it an early planned version?

I must agree with the other posters. Having experienced NYE for the first time at WDW this past year, my DH and I both agree that not only was it our funnest NYE, but the most spectacular evening we've ever spent together as a family. We're a family of 6 (4 teens). Being together, and spending quality uninterrupted (no phone, computer, etc...) time on NYE at EPCOT was an evening I'll never forget. :wizard:

No, it was at midnight. I'll warn you, though... the bus situation wasn't much fun. Oh, also, they had wine and champagne booths sitting around....helpful for the parents! :rotfl:

I am all for that champagne...bring it on... I won't be driving that night"!!! :drinking1

I would also be interested in anyones thoughts of AK for Dec 31.? We won't be arriving until around 1 pm at POP, therefore, by the time we unpack etc. we won't be able to get to a park until maybe 3 pm.

Would AK be a nice quiet choice for say maybe 3 pm - 8 pm then early to bed (two young kids)?
Thanks
Suzy V.
