So it was with a loose plan, and a giant woooosa that we started out that Friday morning.
Knowing the pace with which my in-laws go through life, and their own special time pieces that tell them they are on time regardless of the rest of the worlds clocks, DH and I decided to suggest leaving at 7:30. That should have had us out the door by 8. And remarkably, it did.
We rode in tandem.
I led the way.
Which meant I set the pace.
Which meant I could DRIVE.
Until I looked in my rear-view mirror and didnt see my father in law.
Allow me to explain.
My F-I-L, (well call him Bobo, well, because thats what we call him), has a GPS in his car. We call it Lola. Lola didnt like the route I was taking and was telling him to turn around at the next possible intersection. Lolas incessant demands to turn the car around were apparently impacting the pressure his foot was applying to the gas. Nana is not allowed to touch Lola, so she simply looked out the window while Bobo was futilely pushing buttons in an effort to get Lola to shut up.
This is why I prefer maps.
Well, that and the fact that the fine art of cartography is disappearing.
I digress.
I had to pull over to wait for Bobo.
A body in motion
until Lola reared her head.
Eventually he caught up and we were back on our way.
We stopped at Costco in Jacksonville for lunch and to grab some grub for the week. I waited at the counter for lunch while DH made the run for coffee, oatmeal, trail mix, and the like. By the time he got the few items we needed, I was through the line and we could sit to eat. Precision.
So we gobbled up lunch and started to leave when Bobo struck up a conversation with a couple sitting near us. What started as a smile and a have a nice day turned into my three grandsons
going to Disney World
.been many times
..from upstate New York
.love the snow
. You get the picture. Our bodies were no longer in motion. We had stopped to talk to strangers. And we were a mere two hours from WDW.
I dont get it either.
Up next....pulling up to AKV
