I don't know if they would continue to call it "Star Wars Weekends", but I would not be surprised if they continue to have some sort of special Star Wars events surround DHS (or whatever they name the park). Either at the current time of year, or possibly in Jan-March timeframe. Maybe continue to call it "Seasons of the Force". Basically I think they would want to host some sort of events to drive attendance at off-peak times. This may take a few years after the reimagined park opens, though.

As for the Wreck-it-Ralph lawsuit... Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that as soon as you pitch your idea to a big studio it becomes their property and you can no longer use it, given that you're working for the company. Isn't that the case?

It depends on the nature of the work. If Disney (or any entertainment company) contracts you to create something, even a pitch, then you're doing work-for-hire, and they own everything that comes out of that work. In this scenario the creator would be paid an agreed amount for the time invested. If you create the pitch on your own, then try to sell it to Disney, you own the pitch, and you're trying to sell it on spec. This is by far the more typical modus operandi, and if you think about it, who would spend months creating an idea for a show, only to be told by the first group they pitched it to that, while it wasn't wanted, they couldn't take it to anyone else either.

Looks like a lot of fun. Hopefully they'll find a way to make the story fresh even if it's the same concept as the first one.
Well there are new characters and instead of Nemo getting lost or taken they are on the search to find Dory's family.

That's true. I'm just very skeptical about giving their own movie to any sidekick, no matter how funny they are. I didn't enjoy Cars 2 because of Mater, and I think I can live without ever seeing another minion again. I think Pixar does a great work at finding ways to make their stories fresh, though, so I'm sure they'll come up with something creative.

Finding Dory Teaser Trailer is out

I know people don't necessarily like sequels but I'm excited for this movie. I can't wait to see it.

Well - I think the biggest knock on Pixar of late is spending too much of their time on sequels. Between Up and Inside Out in a 5 year window we got 3 sequels and 1 original (Brave). After the two new ones this year - we have 4 sequels and 1 original in the next four years. Making between 2009 and 2019 only FOUR original concept PIXAR films which is a real shame.

That said, Pixar has a pretty great track record on sequels - 2 great (Toy Story 2 & 3), 1 pretty good (M:U) and 1 well, should we say not so good (Cars 2). A great movie like Finding Nemo leaves you wanting to spend more time with the characters and the story feels like a departure from the original (Not just Nemo getting lost AGAIN, and Marlin chasing after him AGAIN.) - so I have no problem with a sequel to this and I am looking forward to it as well. Incredibles the same thing, and even "Toy Story of Terror" and "Toy Story that Time Forgot" makes me feel like maybe Toy Story 4 has some merit (though truthfully it feels like we are at the point of diminishing returns here). Cars 3 is the only one that makes me shudder,I actually liked the first Cars movie a lot, "Mater's Tall Tales" are cute but disposable, Cars 2 was just very "meh" and the first Planes movie was terrible (A bad rehash of Cars.) such that I haven't even seen the 2nd one. The likelihood of me seeing Cars 3 in the theaters is very, very slim lest it get stellar reviews or focus solely on Luigi and Guido. (I'd pay for more of those guys.)

Oh - and this teaser is cute...good enough to make me want to come back - though I do get the feeling you better really like Dory on this one.

Which a lot of people do and Ellen herself was big into getting a sequel she really wanted it. I am guessing that's why they went the Dory route.

Oh, no doubt Dory was the breakout character and I like Ellen (and Dory) a lot. However, the greatest flaw (to me) of Cars 2 was that Mater was the breakout character of Cars, but having him the central character for an entire movie didn't necessarily work. Dory isn't as annoying a character as Mater so I think it can work OK, but it's just something to be wary of.

I look at the Minions as a another case of this - where as minor characters they are hilarious and I give Despicable Me 2 credit to keep them as minor characters, but the Minion movie - while it did well - is NOT nearly as good a movie as the two DM movies, mostly because the main characters are basically blanks. Again, not saying Dory is in the same category as the minions, but there's always that risk when you take a side character and make it the lead.

Admittedly Dory also really was the co-lead of Finding Nemo - moreso than Nemo was, so again maybe not a good comparison...

I saw minions and I was like this is just not good. They don't speak and listening to gibberish was not fun for me. However I like mater and didn't have a huge problem with cars 2 but it definitely wasn't as good as the original.

Finding Nemo is really a buddy film between Marlin and Dory. Nemo was not nearly the central character that Dory was. I see no problem examining Dory with the help of Nemo and Marlin.

Opened earlier in the week/last weekend but saw the pedestrian bridge at Hotel Plaza Blvd. is now open to Disney Springs. Both bridges now open so hoping that helps with the traffic issues around there come holiday time which is quickly approaching.
