Take this with a grain of salt but WDWNT is reporting several Shanghai attractions will come to the U.S.

Hmmm...Wishful thinking?

I always felt Test Track was "Tron" enough...even if it's not Tron themed. I don't see the need for a tron ride, unless they take the ride track and technology and re-theme it.

I can definitely see the Captain Jack's Stunt Spectacular making it's way to HS.

I wouldn't want Peter Pan to change too much, it's a classic!

I rode the Pony Express at Knott's Berry Farm which I believe has a similar ride vehicle (except it's a horse instead of a motorcycle) It was a lot of fun. I wouldn't mind seeing something like that at WDW.

It does sound like wishful thinking. Out of that list, Star Wars Launch Bay and Buzz upgrades seem like the most plausible to me. I doubt Peter Pan is big enough for the plans they have for Shanghai. Eye of the Storm could replace one of DHS shows, but who knows.

I don't understand why they are building Tron attractions. Both movies are horrible and the latter one tanked it at the box office with only 33 million in North America.

What's next a John Carter attraction?

While this is true, I think the concept of the ride is awesome. If they gave it some generic name like, "Motorcycle LightSpeed" would you be okay with it in the park?

Where did you pull that number from? I wouldn't say it was a smash hit by any means, but it crossed $43 million during its opening weekend in North America.

$172,062,763 overall in North America.

Ah, now I see you confused the box office numbers for the original movie with the box office numbers for the newer one.

Definitely not, but they could have gone with another theme altogether like Star Wars, Marvel, Stitch or Emperor Zurg. Something that people at least like. Tron is more lame than the Lone Ranger and Treasure Planet combined.

That's your opinion and your entitled to it. Numbers that would be interesting to see is how the movies did in China. If they did well there it explains why. I have never seen tron and haven't really been interested to. However I still think the ride concept is great and wouldn't complain if it came to WDW.

Google, it only got 33 million in the U.S. and Canada.

To be clear: That 33 million figure is in reference to the ORIGINAL Tron:

He later produced the American science fiction film Tron (1982) for Walt Disney Productions, the first computer animation-based feature film.[30] Although the film garnered some critical praise,[31][32] it generated only modest sales at the box office — the cumulative North American gross was just $33 million.

The "later" movie (aka, the one produced later) was Tron: Legacy...and the 172 million figure is the correct one.
