That's the problem with humans, we rationalize. You (and I) would realize it was being abused and ask questions like why are we following the rules if no one else is? The reasons we ultimately must decide against abuse is both logical and based off of principle. The more people not following the system the worse it gets. Even if Disney has no method of enforcement, following the preplanned fast passes is the most logical form of crowd control. Then the principle. I believe most of us here on these boards would never purposely lie, cheat, or steal. The Fastpass abuse may not feel like any of those actions initially, but think about it.I agree they need to figure out something for when this happens again because I'm sure it will.
As for people who abused the system how do you know unless they told you that they were. It was a very busy weekend and FP lines weren't the typical short waits either. Many rides had lines to get in the line which I have experienced before.
Like I said if there was no way to stop people from doing this I probably would've done it too. Let's say I had my three booked and I used those but HM was 45 wait and I obviously wouldn't wait that so I might take advantage of the system then.
I agree no doubt and it is what it is the systems seemed to be running today. That's the problem with humans, we rationalize. Lie= lying to Disney and CM
Cheat= cheating and breaking the system
steal= stealing from other guests and from Disney.
Can you and I just do any of the those three things?
This Fastpass abuse shows how fragile human society is. What happens if the power goes out in a major city? I'm sure a lot of people could rationalize a lot of reason to rob. Scary thought.
This is why I feel strongly that we must avoid breaking these rules, because we'll always be in the moral right.
Following the Disney Water Parks strategy. I don't blame them as Disney Water Parks are two of the less recognized greatest accomplishments of Walt Disney World.Volcano bay or whatever it will be called looks to be happening

They're getting there. It's getting more and more stable. Just not quite there yet.
Going without a backup is a problem. Printing thousands of paper ones is out of the question... They're going to have to put their heads together on that. It goes to show that it's important to have the app with verification before leaving for the park.
Nothing is perfect, but I really did hope that people didn't get in the way of those who honestly took the time to reserve the FPs in advance. What if it was a families' one and only trip to Walt Disney World for a lifetime? They'd spent a couple hundred to get in the gate, and they followed all the rules. Why should they get burned because some opportunistic tourists get in without planning? It's cruel and despicable.
Some of the guys over at wdwmagic were kind of doing it to stick it to the man. Really sad that their rational is so off.
And just think Disney just laid off 500 IT workers...Major outages like this are a good thing, in the long run. Let's face it, Disney was never recognized as a "player" in the systems big leagues. Quite the opposite, actually. NexGen changed all of that.
The more the big guys get real world understanding that all of their customer facing apps are one big system that can cause one big problem when it goes down..... the more they'll invest in getting and keeping the real smart folks who can keep it going and keep it improving.
Can't keep viewing systems and IT as an expense line like before......
this will do well at Universal and continue to cement them as a resort destinationVolcano bay or whatever it will be called looks to be happening
