Lots of hidden "changes in direction" seem to be slowly evolving at the ole DVC. The upfront cost is rising at a rate that is starting to gut any "savings" that once existed with the program. The per night points charges are meeting the first Point in the middle...the real cost of a nights stay is climbing. Third...the apparent plan to dump the one and two bedrooms at poly... While its good for my tastes...what does the elimination of the kitchens and laundry in favor of "rack rooms" with no housekeeping say about where they're going? Just a thought or thrice

I am torn on whether to appreciate they found a way to allow more rooms at Poly DVC by going the studio route - or thinking they are gauging us again by not putting in any rooms with kitchens...,I do think they needed to do something extra (like adjoining studios) as a result of the limited availability of the bungalows....

Agree that DVC has gotten out of hand in up front cost. But again people keep buying. The poly in fact I bet will sell very quickly.

As far as the studios, I am a little surprised by the limited number of 2 bedrooms and even no one bedrooms, but having more studios makes a lot of sense. Studios always run out first, and in doing so take some two bedroom (lock offs) with them. Especially T the higher buy-in, they will have fewer people able to afford a one bedroom. It would be smart of Disney to build in a higher % of studios going forward.

So they increase the amount of low points rooms in order to raise the per point cost of buy in...to maximize the number of owners...Now all these new owners will eventually migrate to the other resorts with lower points requirements for their studios.... meanwhile the 1 bedrooms start to be left empty.... so the point adjustment slowly is skewed to raise the point cost of the studios, and reduce the 1 beds--- So the new difficult booking will be the 1 bedroom due to the reduced cost per building "block", and the studios will follow beginning with the lower view category... Except at the poly, where they only have studios and 2 beds.... so the only way to increase the studio room points will be to reduce the bungalows....

Then I don't get why someone who can only afford enough points to get a studio for their stay requirements wouldn't buy resale. Maybe most of the new sales will be add ons for existing owners...

So, your saying that more studios will make studios MORE popular and 1-bed rooms less popular, which in turn will adjust points to make studios more expensive, which will then make 1-bedrooms MORE popular, which will then make 1-bedrooms hard to get? Seems a stretch.

I think that's going to be one of the problems. Buyers buying at those price points will probably be a higher concentration of wealthier folks, which will be MORE likely to want to buy in for the bungalows.

However, you need to realize that a LOT of people don't even know the existence of the resale market. Even myself, who (not to brag) considers myself pretty up on Disney stuff, didn't realize how much less expensive resale is than buying through Disney until just this year, at which point I jumped at it. Before that, I thought DVC was untenable as an option BECAUSE of Disney's prices. I'm sure many people have no clue the options beyond buying direct. And Disney certainly isn't going to tell them.

On top of that, the Poly is a BELOVED resort. I think much, much more affection is out there for the Poly than the Contemporary or Grand Floridian. I read somewhere (I can't remember where) that the Poly is the top deluxe resort on "repeat" business. (A higher % of people stay there that have stayed there before.) So, really, I do think they will sell contracts for the studios as well

But, consider that the 2-bedrooms might go for at most 4 times the points of the studios (and more likely based on other resort roughly 3 times the points). Even at 4 times the points, the 20 2-bedrooms will account for 20% of the total points for the resort. My guess will be sales based on the bungalows will be higher than that. (In fact I totally expect another "fixed week" sales a la the VGF.) Therefore, the demand will likely be higher than the supply, and those bungalows, regardless of how outrageous the point values, will be completely unavailable to anyone outside of the Poly owners.

Hopefully the entire ride gets a big update and not only the entrance. I'm still concerned about the size of the building though.

I'm still convinced that the testing for FP only riding was done in preparation for this ride and meet and greet. If they go that route they won't need a huge amount of space for the line.

You could be spot on.

The logistics of crowd flow and control throughout that area simply can't support a high demand attraction.

Any chance at stand-by could generate an army of little princesses and their families milling around that bottleneck just trying to get on....

I saw one of the mimes last year. I don't know which one but he was hysterical. Easily the the best part of the show.

A young teenage boy ran into the stadium ahead of his parents and the mime offered to help him into the swim tank. The kid ran back and told his parents. The mime got a (fake) concerned look on his face and starting looking for a place to hide. His improve was so quick I would have sworn it was all scripted.
