Hopefully they begin looking at Tomorrowland next. That entire chunk of the park is starting to feel dated.

I agree. They MUST do some serious work on Space Mountain and Buzz especially. A few changes on the overall look of the area wouldn't hurt either.

Buzz rehab is apparently in the works, but other than minor improvements, I don't think we're going to see many extreme changes unfortunately. Disney doesn't have a lot of IP's that they can use for the area, meaning we're going to be stuck with SGE and Monsters.

Not much to do there IMHO. CoP could do with a refurb. Buzz needs a bit of a spring clean too. Other than that, nothing much, except a complete rebuild of Space Mountain's track, a total replacement of Stitch, anything at all where the Speedway currently is[1], and a general all-round refresh of Tomorrowland Terrace.

[1] Seriously! Put a Koi pond there, and I'll be cool with that.

The only thing I could see them doing is something Big Hero 6 related.

It'd be a shame if they've lost the will to do anything that isn't backed by a merchandisable IP, but even so, they could leverage Tron easily enough. If they're willing to raid their back catalog, Blackhole is ripe for a do-over. It's also debatable how much Monsters Inc fits in Tomorrowland, so if they're willing to cast that wide, why not just drag The Incredibles in there. A futuristic super hero ride aimed at kids would probably be very popular.

Yes Buzz refurb is supposed to be set for a month and a half starting in January. I wouldn't expect any changes except fresh paint, and a major refurb of the ride.

Frontierland is currently being looked at

Is that 'currently being looked at', as in they're actively redoing some facades, and BTMR is up for a refurb next year, or 'currently being looked at' as in they have bigger plans? Cos the former I get, but Frontier Land is pretty solid as is, so I don't see the need to add to it really. Especially when Tomorrowland looks so sad.

AP Discounts only for Platinum or Platinum Plus?

In this morning's Tampa Bay Times there was an article on Disney raising AP prices and what each entailed.

According to the graphic in the article, Discounts on Resort stays are only available to those with a Platinum or Platinum Plus AP.

This is the first I've heard of discounts being based on your level of AP but it strikes me as something that the bean counters would just love.

I'm a FL resident with a Seasonal AP. I usually go for 2-5 nights 3 or 4 times a year, often solo, with an AP or FL resident discount. I don't think that's going to be happening in the future.

Here's a link to the article. The info about Resort discounts is in the graphic near the bottom.

They're limiting AP discounts on rooms to only the upper passes?

Omg...I almost never am surprised by anything when it comes to the "company"...but this took my wind out of my sails a bit.

So you have to pay more for the privilege of buying a room on an average 15% discount that is pulled out of what is determined as unused inventory based on the occupancy forecast?

I think I wrote that right...let me read it again so my eyes go crossed.

I'm not sure the author went to the WDW site for research while writing this article.

The Platinum Plus, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Epcot, and Weekday Select all state special offers for stays at Disney Resorts hotels are available.

Both. Frontierland is being looked at for a decent expansion...

No big changes necessary. They just have to clean the vehicles, fix some of the pieces and some fresh paint.

I agree because the ride just looks old and worn down. However I wish some upgrades did happen because Disneyland has the guns that aren't mounted and it seems every buzz attraction improves upon the last. Shanghai's looks to be the best.

Those guns do make a difference, so that'd be cool. Hopefully they'll consider a more modern version of the ride at some point in the future. I'd be happy with clean vehicles and moving pieces for now though.

As for the Frontierland expansion, I'm really curious about that as well. Sure, Disney owns just a few IPs that could fit into TL, but they have nothing popular to fit into Frontierland besides that Woody's Roundup thing that I'm really not a big fan of. They've been doing non-IP rides for the Asian parks in recent years, so I wonder if they'd be willing to go back to original attractions in the US parks.

There's not a ton you can do back there, aside from maybe rip out CBJ and refurbs. That corner of the park just feels lost and very small to me.
Reducing the size of rivers of America... Going behind and to the left of HM...

CBJ is supposed to stay and possibly get its holiday overlays back

I've heard a nice D or E ticket attraction is being discussed for a frontierland expansion. Of course nothing green lit yet and probably won't be for a while but it's definitely being talked about.

Along the northern line of the railroad? That would cut quite a bit out of Rivers of America and the island.

Oh ok...
Makes sense

Now can you explain to me what all those earth tone nonsense titles mean?
