I like that they are theming the seating area. That much concrete in the middle of AK wasn't exactly pretty.

By the way, I read they were starting to cast the performers for this show. Any details on that?
Nothing other than they want powerful story tellers.

What the heck? Talk about insanely short notice. Of course this is smack in the middle of our stay at BLT. Will disney let me switch my fast passes and ADRs around so I can change my pool day to a day my toddlers can use the splash pad? Rhetorical question, but this kills me. We are 3-days away from starting our trip.

Ok - I'm done over reacting, but still am a little bummed.

I'm confused. What is short notice?

Oops - in my panic stricken state (mostly caused by my trip being 3-days away), I replied to and quoted the wrong post. I went back and edited my post. Sorry for the confusion.

Yes yes and yes. Thank you. But midichlorians aren't in the same league as Watto. I'm not Jewish, Chinese or Jamaican but of all the moronic, racist slurs in the prequels I think that one is the.most offensive.

I'm sure Lucas isn't one bit racist. He was just tying to be like an old-school Charlie Chan movie in what he thought was a funny and devil-may-care way. Then when people saw Phantom Menace and told him he was stupid, it got up his nose and he decided to be defiantly stupid in the next two movies.

None of which is an excuse for whoever thought up and then greenlit this idiocy.

What was racist about Watto?

I don't know if you paid any attention to the big Apple event today in San Francisco. (I sure did, I am a big apple geek, yes I have an apple watch)

In today's event a new generation of Apple TV was announced. With that Disney Infinity for Apple TV was announced with it. This is another option to play Disney infinity without a console. Bob Iger was also spotted in the audience of the event.

According to Twitter DCA's Aladdin musical show is ending 1/10/16 to make way for a new frozen show...

Edit: here is official release from Disney

This kind of sucks. I've seen videos of the Aladdin show and it looked great wish I could've seen it in person. Haven't we had enough frozen already.

And according to the responses on Twitter this isn't wanted all that much...

I cant believe it. Havnt we had enough! Aladdin is a show that you could watch over and over. Im not having much hope for this Frozen show.

I will also say that the consensus on Twitter has also been that Aladdin has run its course being there for over a decade that it was time for something new. I just don't think everyone wants frozen again.

I think that's right. Remember that DLR is a locals park, so as many frequent goers are sick of say Indiana Jones at WDW, imagine all the passholders that have had their fill of Aladdin. The show is (was) really good, but it won't devistate me that its closing. It does however seem like Disney is overdoing Frozen quite considerably. Admittedly it doesn't have as much presence in DLR as it does in Florida, but enough is enough.

What was racist about Watto?

Many of the characters in the horrid cgi movies have been attacked as portraying outdated stereotypes in thinly veiled, alien form...

I am perturbed by watto because - frankly - it's an awful character that just plain sucks...not because he's racist.

Nute gunray...on the other hand...is almost overtly racist. It seems.

I agree that it was time for Aladdin to go. Sometimes DL locals have to accept that (Quoting Marty Sklar) the parks are not a museum and they have to change and evolve. However, what can they really do with Frozen that we haven't seen already? I'm sure it will have better quality than the current sing-alongs, but still... Been there, done that. And I have to say that I'm not a Frozen hater. I'd just rather see a cruise line show like Toy Story or Tangled.

There are 2 splash pads, and at least one will be open. It's Sept 15-16 (returns 17) and 17-20 (returns 21). Not a big deal.

I LOVED Aladdin when I was over in Anaheim. I can understand the locals being tired of it after so long, but most of the uproar is over it being Frozen overload. Now they'll finally get a taste of what we've been dealing with.

Overall, I understand that the Disney Parks are not a museum and things need to change. Obviously, there was a point in time when the Aladdin musical was going to go away. However, the Aladdin musical is one of the best shows that Disney Parks has to offer. The genie puts this show head above the others. I always think that comedy makes any show better. IMO it is better then the Beauty and the Beast show at Hollywood Studios and any of the other shows based on movies even Festival of the Lion King. It stinks to know that Frozen is going to replace this show. Frozen has been shoved down guests throats like none other. I hope that they do not replace the Beauty and the Beast show with a Frozen, I really hope they choose to do Tangled. Frozen will not have the comedy impact that Aladdin because the genie character was so flexible. (I am not really a fan of Olaf, I kind of wished he melted at the end of the movie.) I am so glad to get the chance to see this show one last time in September when I go to Disneyland.

It is crazy how much support Frozen gets from Disney Parks. Yet, there is very little Big Hero 6 and Inside Out to be seen in the parks. Both of those were successful movies, I personally thought were more enjoyable movies to watch.

End of rant.

Be careful what you wish for. DHS was built in a hurry in the first place to capitalize on the popularity of studio parks and beat the competition to market. Because of the hurried, haphazard approach, the park flow and some attractions weren't thought out as well as they should have been. I want a quality product. If that takes time, then I am fine with waiting.
Remember that originally the park made much more sense. While some could argue that the park showed ineffective future planning, I'd counter by saying it was just a highly specialized and focused offering. Much of what became the park we now know today, and that is going away, was part of an extensive ride and walking tour. The reason it doesn't feel right or flow is because it never was supposed to, except on board a tram. I'd say that as much as Epcot has lost focus of what it's supposed to be, MGM suffered in an even more dramatic fashion.
