News Round Up 2020

Again, why are you on a Disney trip planning forum if all you want to do is be negative about everything Disney does and constantly compare it to Six Flags? What joy does that bring you? Because for the rest of us, Disney brings us joy, and todays announcement is a major happy news drop!

Why are you bothering to read and comment?

It is good news, but allowing basically unchecked hopping after the first park seems odd at best and shortsighted at worst. They should require a park reservation after each hop to keep things under control, rather thab just crossing their fingers and hoping for the best. The park reservation system works, aside from the bucket issues. Use it.

It’s subject to park capacity. It’s not a free for all. If you tap in Disney knows how many people are in the park. This is how they had managed capacity for decades.

So if I take the 1 hour resort transportation trip from animal kingdom to studios and the park hits capacity during that trip.... then?

I was also confused by the comment. Disney doesn't use the reservation system to track park numbers.

You can't get in until someone leaves? I'll assume a line will start forming if there is some kind of overflow.

However that will probably never happen because Disney probably knows that no park hits/stays at capacity from 2pm onward.

How often have we seen a park that wasn't already at capacity for the day, reach capacity for the day during all of this?

Has AK started with capacity one morning and then the buckets switched to at capacity later that same day?

Why is everyone's hypothetical situation about hopping TO HS? Disney has already stated hoppers to HS won't get to ride RotR, so there's no point.

Requiring a reservation for the second park (even made day of) would reassure us that we can get in before we "hop".

Although Disney isn't saying this.....

And it might add more phone follies, some kind of 2 pm "hop drop".

On a normal day I think youre right, but I have the feeling they will be ramping up "capacity" with this as well. I dont ever see a problem getting into epcot, but MK and HS can be issues on the right days.

Park hopping returns! Wow. I don't like the thought of being "turned away" .. but considering not EVERYONE can park hop, I don't think it will be an issue .. capacity should balance itself out, right?

I guess capacity probably won't be an issue except maybe HOPPING over to MK (or whatever park is open the latest).. even then .. after 2:00 PM, I am sure a lot of people have left.

The question is .. what if I leave a park to go back to the hotel and want to come back later. Is there a possibility of being turned away because the park is now full?

I think this will lean even MORE guests to start their day at DHS (to try and and get on Rise) .. and just hop over to another park after they get their rides done. DHS may be less crowded in the afternoons because of the ability to hop .. say over to Epcot.

This will help EPCOT immensely. That place will definitely get more people in the evenings.

See that’s why I will love this. HS should be relatively empty in the afternoon and evening so we’ll probably actually visit that park more. I have no desire to ride ROTR so being able to just wander around TS land and GE without the heavy crowds in the morning will be great.
