News Round Up 2016

I personally like the resort specific mugs...my question was why did they have to go cheap and get rid of them in the first place? The reader chips completely eliminated the need anyway.

Maybe they found out what they could have asked a lot of us: people like resort specific stuff...always have. Especially the DVC/annual pass types.

What they don't like is the generic branding.

I just think the idea to leave and renter a ride system within the show building is logistically impossible.

1. Disney rides have to be high capacity

2. Wdw probably has the highest number of ecvs/wheelchairs per capita of any place this side of shady pines...I don't see how it could work.

I want to believe this (even from screamscape)...but the logistics don't seem realistic.

But, the automated guy on the bus says no eating or drinking. So, you buy your nice little rugrats a drink and then the bus comes. I see what is coming and it isn't going to be very user friendly to the others riding the bus. WAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH! I WANT MY DRINK! All the way to the MK.
People actually follow those rules?

New Soarin' was cute. We were seated on the far left side which gave a huge curve to everything on the screen - the Eiffel Tower looked like the front end of a parentheses . ( I don't remember that being an issue with the California version, but maybe I just never rode it that far to the side. Anyone else have that experience?

Yes! It was definitely pretty comical. Great ride, too bad they dropped the ball on something like that. Maybe they should've filmed round things instead

What about the wheel chairs...I would think that the vehicles would need to be able to accommodate them as a roll on like Spaceship Earth, but then wouldn't it slow everything down to have to load and unload them?

Just have a separate loading/unloading station for ECV/wheelchairs like Toy Story Midway Mania. That would be easy with a trackless ride. Those folks can take extra time without affecting the flow of the attraction. Once ready, the ECV/wheelchair guests simply join the next group that arrives.

It's really not all that complicated, as far as I'm concerned.

Does EVERY ride have to be able to accommodate all guests? Many of the "best" rides in Orlando don't (I mean, Forbidden Journey is the gold standard of my family, but if you don't have the right body size, you can't ride)...if they are seeking "best" ride status, maybe this one won't be able to seat everyone...

Umm... yes? Sorry I missed the memo on which rules were okay to break. ;)
I've never had a bus driver yell at me for drinking on the bus. I've never eaten on the bus though except for the rundisney coach buses which don't have those rules.

Okay the pizza discussion made me laugh a lot. I don't understand what the test is though - they've had coke vending machines at bus stops at resorts for at least the past couple years. Are they testing fountain drinks?

Maybe this is a CM standing out there with a cooler selling bottled drinks. I feel like this would only be necessary during busy and hot days.

You know the answer to that...

THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY

They won't do anything with an excitement Factor above a 1.5 because sleeping babies can't ride it...

How do you want your eggs? Wait...it's gotta be sunny side up...

In theory...I like your take...in practice by semi inebriated college programmers?

Nope...there's has to be some kinda new failsafe on this...maybe you get off and then snake through a second half into the Chinese toy dump...

Can't envision how re-entry would work...unless there is no exit for assisted riders...but that's a hard one to explain in 8 words with "magic" shoved in there as a headfake

We were there 10/9-10/14 and I can second that insane crowd level. Granted, it's been a while since we've gone in the fall, and maybe we just ended up traveling with the pack, but there were just so many people. I will say that ride wait times were manageable (with the exceptions of SDMT, Peter Pan and Space Mountain), but trying to walk anywhere felt like you had to maneuver through walls of humanity. We only went to MK and EP.

Notes related to recent discussions here:
  • MK bathrooms were consistently disgusting across the park. Not just "not up to Disney standards" - disgusting. There was literal poop smeared all over the floor at the Pinoccio bathrooms at one point. I've never seen them in that bad of shape before. I didn't see a single overflowing trashcan in the park though.
  • The Tomorrowland rocks look really nice in person. They fit in well with the new paint scheme.
  • There seemed to be some sort of FastPass testing or issues happening in Tomorrowland around Buzz Lightyear and Splash Mountain on 10/12 and 13 - not sure if anyone has heard anything about that? We had long FastPass return lines both days; it didn't seem to be an issue earlier in the day.
  • Epcot was very crowded, and many of the adults I saw were well on their way to stumbling drunk. Every single bathroom in the world showcase had a line starting at 4pm and increasing through the night. It was rather disappointing - not a scene I was very proud to show my kids. I don't feel the need to ever go back during F&W.

The new soarin had a lot more cgi effect to it than the original and didn't compensate for the screen curve.
