News Round Up 2016

Just pointing out - last year "Mahalloween" was a special event that you had to sign up for the special night outing. The cost was I think around $150 and as part of the event you got a special limited edition mug. This may be the case for this one as well - in which case you can't just go and pick one up.
Well, that would suck.

This place claims they'll be available starting September 9. No idea where they got that info (but I have recruited my CA cousin to snag one for me).

It was already mentioned - but this was announced a few months ago. They are also renaming the EXISTING Wilderness Lodge Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge while the new one is Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

What wasn't answered to you previously is that yes indeed - these WILL be TWO separate DVC resorts within a single resort. This was always very likely, as they couldn't justify combining units with a 2042 end date and a $90 resale price point with units that will have a 2068 end date and a $180 per point price point.

I seriously doubt they will try and price these cabins at the same rate as the Poly. They'll still be overpriced, but not THAT overpriced.

Will both the old and new DVC share amenities such as the pool? Are these amenities separate from the hotel amenities?

I don't think anyone knows the answer to that for sure - but I don't see how they can really separate amenities such as the pool or laundry services and such. In fact, MOST amenities are also shared by the actual hotel...so those certainly can't be exclusively set. As I said, it's a tricky bridge that Disney is trying to cross with this one. What is the grand selling point for the new DVC versus the old WL DVC? Is it the cabins? Because 90% of the people purchasing won't be able to afford those. We're probably another year or so from finding out....

Right...but the poly bungalows got some bad press in that and it's a tad of a "bad show" on the other side of the bridge too...me thinks.

I think the name (first I'm hearing of it) is more the tactic to try and upsell the second half of the same DVC development under different terms and try to ease it under the door.

...and i think it's coming at probably 4 other properties. Really...it's what is going on in the parks too...repackaging older stuff at a higher price.

Not that I don't agree about the 200%, but they do need a way to differentiate between the two different ownerships--- It would be really lame to call it VWL 2.

And the better part of the new VWL is that it will be located in the main building-- instead of the "oh we built a DVC out here" building. (think BCV..) Kind of in the back and out of the way.

You mean the one at the end of the short covered staircase

...you're joking right?

Maybe they will all be club level...

Not really-- not that I'm saying I would pay for it (I caught up in this thread now) as Pete said-- but IMO it is "better" location. I don't really get the staircase you are referencing-- just that the DVC's at WL and BC are in a separate building with really no amenities. That's all.

The staircase leads from the lobby to the DVC unit...

I'm not disagreeing with you guys...people will pay for a matter of feet and break their arms patting themselves on the back afterwards...

But amenities "in the building" is so weak...

Like for those 11 days a year that the weather drops below 75?

Are you serious?

They don't "segregate amenities" except in weird circumstances like bay lake...and that hasn't exactly gone great
Yes. I was. And thank you for referencing the "weird circumstance" that had me thinking about it in the first place. Sheesh.
