News Round Up 2016

They have only been updating it about a month out and I think usually come out on Friday, so hopefully this Friday they will extend them

They build infrastructure just for this show so I can't imagine it won't continue at a minimum to the end of the year but likely well beyond. I suppose in theory they could reduce the number of nights they do it during slower periods but I would be shocked if it is just totally ended anytime soon

I agree - there's no reason to think it won't continue. They need everything they have to keep people in that park for the evening.

I really hope that dosn't happen as I feel the MSEP floats should be saved(at least the main/popular ones) as I feel that MSEP is apart of Disney Parks history.
History hasn't stopped Disney before. You'll also hear the common "Disney parks aren't museums". In my opinion though it's time to put MSEP to rest it's seen better days. Maybe keep one float or whatever but it's time for it to go.

While I do agree it it is time to retire it, I do think a few floats should be saved should be saved.

How exactly to the turn floats like that into another parade as most of them are very distinct shapes and some made of what looks to be a mesh type material.

Well not really news but I thought it was interesting. I was reading the Facebook comments for tower of terror parks blog post today. Comment after comment was negative and bashing Disney for making this decision to get rid of ToT.

A lot of Disney parades are repurposed. The original WDW electrical light parade (the current one is the Disneyland one) was used to make new floats for various parades. The frames should be fine which is really the main part they would be using I would think.

I have to say, the way they described the ride in that long news story you linked to earlier today it made the ride sound pretty cool and interesting ... though would be better if it was a new ride rather than requiring the removal of ToT

... though selfishly I am happy it is happening only (for now) to the one in DCA vs in DHS

Not surprising.

Who would take the time to come out in support of something like this? No one. Only the haters will say or do anything, and then once the haters start the lurkers jump in with the "yeah, me too". By that time, anyone even remotely in support or neutral or wait and see will be shouted down as an apologist, fanboy, or otherwise dismissed. Follows a pretty standard feedback loop.

Which is why social media gets exactly .001% of consideration when decisions are made. You have to have a reaction plan, and a social media presence, but any company that gives weight to social media needs help. :D

Yup. The pods the VIPs ride at the end of PTN are actually the same pods that the SpectroMen rode on for the opening of SpectroMagic.

We don't know that the AP changes led to a decrease in attendance though. It very well could've been the Brazilian/European economies and/Or several other factors.

I thought when the attendance figures came out they showed that international tourists are the same, that donestic attendance was down. Am i remembering that wrong?

The information we got shows that Universal's new pass structure was adding benefits not just increasing cost. Did the Disney APs add anything new, i didn't notice any changes? A black out pass that saves you money on parking may be worth it to some. I know that early park admission definitely perked my ears since I like to show up at Universal in the morning and leave at lunch.

Well, the Disney Annual Pass includes the Photpass this year. Don't think anything else was included over the previous years passes.
