News Round Up 2016

Would make sense actually if the "pucks" have a replaceable battery. If not...then what's the point?

As the article says, it reduces the cost of limited edition bands since they would no longer contain their own RFID chip. It would also reduce the number of RFIDs associated with your MDE account.

You would effectively be able to replace the battery of any band you bought under this format.

I just remember carrying one of my kids out in a catatonic state. Didn't they simulate a security guard getting killed in the dark, complete with "blood" spraying across your legs?

Yep. While intense, somewhat out of place, and not small-child-friendly, it was actually a really well done attraction (I never refer to it as a ride since you are stationary the entire time).

I absolutely loved it as the Extra version:). It was in my Top 4 park experiences at the time...now, this is from a kid who watched Terminator with my dad on home video at 6, but if I could have that experience recreated anywhere, I would be so happy. Everything worked - the preshow and the actual event...
I can take or leave Stitch - it's definitely a huge downgrade...
The Extra Terr was the absolute best of anything I ever saw in that theater. (Starting with Mission to Mars.,not sure what was before that.) My whole family was devastated when they replaced it. Our kids saw it when they were fairly young, but I never did understand those who disregarded the warnings about dark and loud intense sounds and brought in very young kids...it's OK for some attractions to be for older kids and adults...not everything has to be for the very young children,

I won't even comment on our opinion of Stitch - but for sure agree that it's WAY over due to be replaced,

The reason we loved the ET so much was mostly due to Tim Curry's character, and the whole pre-show. We loved the satire and story. Inside the theater was secondary to the pre-show for us! We often still quote (or mis-quote) some of it..."Profits are simply a by-product that we've just learned to live with..." There was thought put into that story, and we loved it.

This is a ride that NEEDS to be re-done - and I bet you would not find a single person that would really complain about it, even stitch die-hards.

Stitch Die-Hard checking in. Not sad to see it go. (I would like one last ride on it, but I'll probably get off thinking I wasted my time, much like every other time I go on it)

Did I see Allstars for $74 this fall? Had a pop up but now I don't see it anywhere.

DVC already has changed their policy--they put on the booked DVC Resort Reservation, " NO Magic Bands wanted ",
unless you tell MS that " Yes, I want MBs sent out with my reservation(s).

I did get a passholder e-mail with that rate in it. I didn't look at the details of it though.

There are probably a few select dates with that rate but i doubt you could get a week with that rate.

Screenshot software didn't work correctly for the email, so I had to take that in 2 screenshots. The page with the deal is below the email.

EDIT: I thought the boards allowed the full image size to be viewed, but I guess I was wrong, here is the offer page in multiple screenshots:

Another Disney animation to live action movie is in the works: The Little Mermaid

Variety Reports: http://variety.com/2016/film/news/l...ittle-mermaid-producer-songwriter-1201838485/

I don't have much faith in this. A lot of the movie would need to take place under water. There's no way to do this without CG. A LOT of CG. While the mermaids in the 4th Pirates movie looked nice, I don't remember them ever needing to talk underwater. You know, what Ariel, Triton, and the other fish do a lot. I just see it turning into another CG nightmare like Oz and Alice.

I also don't know how it's going to be without Howard Ashman. He had so much to do with the lyrics of the songs, hard core directing the script readings and song recordings, and influenced a lot of things that went into the movie. I don't know if someone else is going to be able to do it.

Lots of CG like Jungle Book? ;)

I understand where you are coming from, but maybe Cameron has made it work in his next Avatar movies. I've heard parts of the sequels take place underwater. Maybe Disney will leverage that technology that he is creating to make it seem better than what we can imagine.

Wishful thinking?
