News Round Up 2016

To add on to that...

The 1.0 and 2.0 Play Set Piece (Themed Game) does not work with the 3.0 disc....Nor do the Power Discs.

That is incorrect, the power discs are forward compatible. You can use any disc from the first 2 games in the third game. Now, they are not backwards compatible. So you can not buy version 2 or 3 discs and use them in version 1 (for obvious reasons)

If they were going to go that path, I would have preferred if they'd released all variations at the same time. I disliked the addition of light-fx characters months after the original in an attempt to get people to buy the same toy twice. If they'd just gone with character tiers: regular play pieces for kids and gamers only, light-up edition as a fun special edition higher priced variant of same, and 12" for collectors, but all released at the same time, so you can choose what you want, I'd have found it less of a distasteful cash grab.

The irony is of course that it seems to be the cost of over inventory that tanked Infinity. I wonder how much this was merchandising having to much say in the running of the game division.

The LightFX star wars figures were annoying to me as well. Early purchasers were essentially punished by not waiting.

Honestly though, what is the point of a new Buzz Lightyear or Elsa (no matter what dress she is wearing)? Unless you still have V1 laying around, you have no playset for Buzz. And Else never got a playset at all. So you drop $15 or so to have one more person that can hang out in the hub.

Granted, I never had the time to go and build my own playsets, nor did that mode seem all that fun to me. But I don't get minecraft either, so maybe those non-playset figures were more useful for those folks.

I can say, that I tried downloading the "top rated" toy boxes on a few occasions, and always found them to be extremely lacking.

I have to chuckle a little when people point out that it's tacky that the infinity line was going to start being repetitive/double dip...

Have you ever heard of the second most repackaged and resold company/brand in history?

This thing called "Disney"?

Have you ever heard of the #1 repackaged property?
...this thing called "star wars"

Who doesn't need 8 different versions of pinnochio and empire strikes back on VHS?

I chuckle because most people complain about these things while they are handing over their cash.

You mean you don't have the Limited Issue, Gold Collection, Collector's Edition, Platinum Edition, Diamond Edition, and Special Edition of Snow White?

And you call yourself a Disney fan...

So because they repeatedly put movies in and out of their vault, we should be cool with them doing the same thing in all other aspects? Sometimes you seem to have trouble figuring out where you stand on stuff like this. The LOL I know says we should never get used to being "reamed by the corporate man". But if someone else points out something, "Oh hey, it's Disney, move along, nothing to see here."

It appears at times you are more interested in being contrarian than consistent.

Besides, there is no benefit to buying a movie twice. You own it once, you own it as long as you have a way to play the video. On the video game side, they were tying content to these things. Buy the same physical item twice for two different digital benefits.

I chuckle because most people complain about these things while they are handing over their cash.

I don't see anyone here claiming they were forced to buy anything twice. I know that while I have a "complete" infinity set, it includes no slightly different duplicates. Or later releases of the same figure. I think the closest thing that I got roped into there was when they put Captain America out a second time, this time without a mask. But he was bundled with the Battlegrounds Playset, which was released fairly cheaply, making the dupe Cap' essentially free.

So I guess if I ever flip my set on eBay, I'll have to put in a caveat
*Does not include multiple versions of star wars people, some of which have light up sabers.

Yes you are correct.

What I misread was that the "Toy Box Game Disc" from 2.0 is not compatible with 3.0.
