They missed Rivers of Light...and now Frozen...

And yes, the price increases and the more for less has also been a big factor...but the more for less goes into the deadline missing...
Frozen hasn't had an announced date. I've heard it will still open in June even if it is late June.

MK got a few improvements in the past few years, but nothing mind-blowing a la Harry Potter @ Universal, EPCOT has been stagnant forever, Pandora is still a ways off, Star Wars and Toy Story lands are just a glimmer in Mickey's eye right now, a bunch of stuff has closed/been removed from DHS, and just about every shorter-term project is either 'late' or there hasn't been any hard and fast date set for their opening. It's no wonder that people are a little shy to pull the trigger this summer. When we made our decision, it was over a year ago - before many of the closures and also anticipating that some of the new things (a la Frozen, RoL) would be running.

The price increases hurt, but that's nothing new. We only hit Disney maybe once every 3 years, so I expect it to be our 'big trip'.

I agree about the more for less being the key - Disney has always raised prices but people felt it was worth it for a premium brand. Now I think they are questioning the "premium" aspect

Also, people who only go every few years probably waiting at least for Pandora if not Star Wars land

Lastly, small sample, but I know several people (including myself) who went to Disneyland instead for their 60th

So this 7am deal. Is that just the tick-over time for what constitutes as the next day in terms of reserving your fast pass+ selections? If so then I have no idea why it makes any appreciable difference since no one is generally getting first-crack at an specific day's allotment (unless I am just missing something).

It's about when you can make your FP+ selections. It used to be that you could make them starting at 12am 60 days out. Now you have to wait until 7am 60 days out (or 30 days, etc depending on your ticket type). For our last trip I was up at midnight on a sunday night to make sure my girls got to meet the Frozen princesses. Now I can sleep in until 7am instead.

I'm totally thinking this Force thing will be the DHS version of an in-park game to help kill time between rides. MK has SOMK (and the pirate adventure thing in Adventureland), Epcot has Agent P, and AK has Wilderness Explorers. DHS is the only park without a game like this, so I can totally see them rolling it out. I would think that it wouldn't involve light sabers, though. They already tape them down and don't allow deployment of the build-your-own in the park, so I can't imagine them creating a game where a light saber can be swung around freely.
We were there in February, and every kid and some adults had their light sabers out and wielding them on their whim........with many a parent looking on making sure their kid didn't inadvertently hit someone.

Ok then I did understand it correctly. I guess I never considered waiting for the clock to tick over to reserve my FPs. While I do reserve them at the 60 day mark, I just do it at some point that day. I figure the benefit of doing them that second is minimal as most people are waiting for the 30 day mark, and people with rooms have already been reserving FPs for days ahead of when I am able to (aka if my reservation window opens June 10th, there will already be reservations in place on many of my vacation days by folks who have multiday passes that begin up to 10 days before my trip - potentially starting June 1st).

Maybe it is because I don't go at peak times, but I haven't ever had an issue reserving any time within the day I am allowed to start booking. Has anyone here ran into a problem at the 60day mark before?

Absolutely, I have run into problems! Of course, I'm booking fastpasses for 6 people and we needed to see Anna and Elsa last September. I was able to get them for later in our trip but even at 60 days out my options were limited.

Ah meet and greets. That was the missing piece of the puzzle! I guess I luck out not having gone with anyone who wants to do them. They seem like a scheduling experience all their own.

We need a thread to collect all of our EPCOT refurb ideas!
I nominate Mission:SPACE, then! Need a better system for seperating the tickets....one time a woman who got Green Team tickets supposedly wanted YELLOW team instead and started screaming at a CM. I believe she meant Orange... They should honestly renovate that area a bit to make sure nobody goes on orange when they want green, or other way around, idk...just somethin'.

I personally think the ride itself could use some TLC. Great concept, and the feeling is unreal in the launch section. But the graphics are Google earth esque effects and can be vastly improved on. But hey the building isn't vacant so I guess I shouldn't complain too much

Epcots Sum of all Thrills in Innoventions is possibly closing later this year.

Bummer:( We love this ride. Maybe it will still be open in July, and we can do it twice for the last time. They need to quit closing stuff there and open up some new stuff. They may have to rename Future World as Ghost Town:(

NOOO!!! Never got the chance to ride that one! Can anyone tell me what it's like, and if I should give it a try before it disappears? I'm terrified of drops and being upside down, if that helps..

First, you get to design a roller coaster. They factor in the physics behind the movements, ie loops, corkskrews, etc. The car needs to have enough speed/momentum to make up inclines or through loops. You get to pick from different vehicle types: bobsled, jet, normal ride vehicle. They have different characteristics/speeds. Then they upload your ride program into the simulator. It's a robotic arm with 6 degrees of freedom/movement. It has a seat on the end and shoulder harnesses. There's a lid that closes over you. The lid contains a display. The display shows your program, while the robotic arm moves to mimic the program. It would be nice if the display was 3D, but generally, it's still pretty cool, especially the build part. The ride does really mimic the ride you design, as opposed to Test Track, which is the same no matter what you design.
